Chapter 138: The Return of UV1

Chapter 138: The Return of UV1

The aftermath of the explosion left the hall shrouded in smoke and silence. Adam stood frozen, his eyes darting between the debris and the crumpled figure of Pratham near the far wall.

The air carried the acrid smell of burned metal and flesh, a haunting reminder of the devastation UV1 had wrought.

Mikasa stirred, her movements slow at first. Her injuries had healed entirely, the deep gashes and burns on her body now just faint marks.

With newfound strength, she pushed herself off the ground and turned her gaze toward Pratham. Her heart clenched at the sight of him—wounded, vulnerable, and barely conscious.

She rushed to his side, her voice trembling as she cradled him in her arms. "Pratham, are you okay?" she asked, her tone laced with concern.

Pratham’s eyes fluttered open, heavy with exhaustion. His breathing was shallow, his body battered and bruised.

Summoning what little strength he had, he raised his uninjured hand to touch the charred remains of his other arm, now a painful reminder of his failure.

"I... I’m fine," he whispered hoarsely, though the strain in his voice betrayed his words. "But forgive me... I couldn’t save UV1. He... he chose to destroy himself. I don’t understand what was going through his mind."

His words hung in the air, each syllable heavy with regret. Before he could say more, the faint sound of footsteps echoed through the hall.

The rhythmic clinking of boots against the floor grew louder, cutting through the oppressive stillness like a knife.

Mikasa and Adam both turned toward the source of the sound, their attention drawn to the hall’s entrance.

As the figure emerged from the shadows, Adam’s eyes widened in disbelief. Mikasa’s grip on Pratham tightened, her expression a mix of shock and confusion.

"What... what is this?" Mikasa stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Standing before them, illuminated by the flickering light of the damaged hall, was UV1. His posture was upright, his expression calm, almost smug.

UV1’s gaze swept across the room, settling on Mikasa. A sly smile curled on his lips as he spoke, his voice carrying an unsettling confidence. "Did you really think I’d give up so easily? My plans... my vision... they’re far from over."

Pratham, still cradled in Mikasa’s arms, mustered the strength to lift his head.

His eyes locked onto UV1, and a shiver ran through him. His voice trembled as he stuttered, "But... but you... you self-destructed. How can you be here? This is impossible..."

Pratham’s body shook, his mind reeling from the impossibility of what he was witnessing. UV1’s presence defied logic, his very existence a mockery of the sacrifice Pratham had witnessed moments ago.

Mikasa, her shock giving way to determination, gently laid Pratham down and rose to her feet. She stepped forward, her eyes narrowing as she addressed UV1.

"You’ve gone too far, UV1. We don’t know the full extent of your schemes, but your actions have made one thing clear—you’re a threat that must be dealt with now."

Raising her hands, Mikasa summoned her power. The pristine white tiles of the hall floor broke free, rising into the air.

They rearranged themselves into a square formation, enclosing UV1 within a glowing barrier. The tiles shimmered, their edges razor-sharp, pulsating with energy as they hovered in place.

UV1’s expression remained unfazed. His brown eyes began to glow faintly, their light intensifying until it shattered the barrier with an audible crack.

The tiles fell to the ground, their energy dissipating as if they had never been charged.

Mikasa’s brow furrowed in frustration. She extended her hands once more, ready to try again, but UV1 acted swiftly. His gaze fixed on her, his power radiating outward. Mikasa’s movements faltered, her abilities rendered useless under the weight of his influence.

Before anyone could react further, the sound of boots returned. This time, it was not a single figure but a contingent of soldiers.

They marched into the hall in unison, their green suits glinting under the dim lights. Each soldier carried a sleek, white laser gun, its center glowing with a menacing blue light.

Adam’s eyes lingered on the weapons. He had seen their devastating power before and knew they were far more dangerous than they appeared.

Mikasa stiffened, her gaze shifting from UV1 to the soldiers. She had felt the sting of those lasers not long ago and knew firsthand how deadly they could be.

Her thoughts raced. "UV1 has prepared for this... He’s gone too far. But how do we fight against this?"

Pratham, still injured and weak, began to stir. His body was slowly regenerating, though the process was agonizingly slow. Despite the pain, he forced himself to stand, leaning heavily against the wall for support.

UV1 watched him closely, his expression unreadable. He stood at the center of the hall, unscathed and commanding.

The soldiers behind him held their weapons steady, their stances exuding discipline and precision.

Pratham and Mikasa stood together, their presence dwarfed by the overwhelming odds before them.

Adam remained rooted in place, his form flickering faintly as he grappled with the futility of the situation. He could do nothing but watch, powerless to intervene.

The hall fell silent once more, the tension thick and suffocating. UV1’s cold gaze swept over the room, his lips curling into a triumphant smirk.

And so, the confrontation reached its boiling point, with both sides poised for what was to come.

The tension in the hallway was palpable, every second stretching endlessly as UV1 stood confidently before Pratham and Mikasa.

Determined to end this threat, both Pratham and Mikasa steeled themselves for another attempt to restrain him.

Their hands moved forward in unison, power surging through their veins as they prepared to unleash their abilities.

But UV1 had been waiting for this moment. His eyes flashed with a calculated intensity as he activated his own skill, a disruptive wave of energy radiating outward.

The air around Pratham and Mikasa shimmered unnaturally, and in an instant, their powers faltered. Both staggered, their control slipping away as if grasping at smoke.

The soldiers, standing behind UV1, sprang into action. They had been waiting for this precise opportunity, and now they raised their sleek laser guns, the deadly blue light at their cores glowing brighter. Without hesitation, they opened fire.

A barrage of searing laser beams shot across the room, their intense heat slicing through the air.

Pratham and Mikasa barely had time to react before the onslaught struck them. The sheer force of the attack sent them hurtling backward, slamming into the wall behind the massive drone shell that loomed in the center of the hall.

The soldiers did not relent. Their disciplined formation ensured a relentless assault, the lasers bombarding the pair without pause.

The room filled with the harsh hum of energy blasts and the acrid scent of scorched air. Time seemed to slow as the two endured the punishing attack, their figures almost obscured by the relentless flashes of blue light.

At last, UV1 raised his hand, his fingers slicing through the air like a conductor silencing an orchestra.

The soldiers immediately ceased their fire, lowering their weapons in unison. The sudden silence was deafening, broken only by the faint crackle of residual energy dissipating in the air.

UV1 strode forward, his steps deliberate and methodical as he approached the motionless forms of Pratham and Mikasa.

His sharp eyes scanned their bodies, taking in the extent of their injuries. Their clothes were torn, their skin marred by deep burns and lacerations. Blood pooled beneath them, staining the already ruined floor.

Despite their horrific state, UV1 couldn’t ignore one undeniable truth: they were still alive.

His expression shifted to one of intrigue, his mind racing to process the implications. He crouched next to them, his eyes narrowing as he observed the faint movements of their chests.

"So... you can’t die," he muttered under his breath, his voice laced with a mix of disbelief and fascination.

As memories of their past encounters replayed in his mind, UV1 arrived at a chilling conclusion. A slow smile spread across his face as he stood, his gaze now filled with a dangerous gleam. "This... this is the power I’ve been searching for."

---

UV1 turned toward the soldiers, his voice steady yet commanding. "Bring it forward."

One of the soldiers stepped out of formation, his movements precise and mechanical. Reaching into a compartment on his suit, he retrieved a small, black, square-shaped device.

Its surface was sleek, with a glowing screen embedded at its center. The soldier approached UV1, holding the device with reverence.

UV1 nodded, a signal to proceed. The soldier pressed a button on the screen, and the device emitted a soft beep.

Numbers began to flash, counting down rapidly. Without a moment’s hesitation, the soldier hurled the device toward the unconscious forms of Pratham and Mikasa.

Adam, standing off to the side, watched in stunned silence as the device arced through the air. Rage bubbled within him, his fists clenched tightly at his sides.

His mind screamed for him to act, to intervene, but his body remained frozen. The weight of his helplessness was suffocating.

Adam closes his eyes because he can’t see all this.

The device landed near Pratham and Mikasa, its countdown reaching zero. A split second later, an explosion tore through the hall.

The force of the blast shattered the wall behind them, sending shards of metal and concrete flying in all directions. Pratham and Mikasa were flung across the room, their bodies colliding with the debris-strewn floor.

---

As the dust settled, UV1 approached them once more, his expression unreadable. He loomed over their battered forms, his mind racing with possibilities.

Despite the overwhelming force of the explosion, both Pratham and Mikasa were still alive. Their injuries were severe, but their bodies were already beginning to heal.

UV1’s suspicions were confirmed. His voice, calm yet filled with a sinister undertone, broke the silence. "I was right," he said, almost to himself. "You truly cannot die."

A satisfied smirk crossed his face as he straightened. "But don’t worry," he continued, his tone dripping with malice. "I have a solution for that, too."

The scene lingered on his unsettling grin, the weight of his words hanging heavily in the air.
