Chapter 114: The Clash of Powers
Chapter 114: The Clash of Powers
The scene shifts dramatically to the exterior of a bustling shopping mall.
Adam stands motionless, his black attire stark against the vibrant backdrop.
His piercing gaze locks onto Zora, a well-built man standing a few feet away.
Adam’s mask conceals his expression, but his eyes gleam with an intensity that freezes Zora in his tracks.
The crowd gathered nearby murmurs in hushed voices. For the first time people have seen two power holders together and that too standing against each other. Some people in the crowd are excited whereas some are scared that what destruction will these power holders cause is beyond this scope.
"Is he another power holder?" a curious bystander whispers.
Zora’s confusion deepens as he studies Adam’s demeanor. Before he can fully articulate his thoughts, he blurts out, "What are you—?"
But his sentence is abruptly cut short as Adam lifts his hand. He moves with calm precision, extending his palm towards Zora’s face.
"Telekinesis," Adam utters, his voice a low, commanding growl.
An energy is emanating from Adam’s hands which cannot be perceived by any other human being, but this energy is so powerful that Zora standing in front can feel this energy on his face.
The air around his hand seems to ripple, and an invisible force explodes outward.
The sheer intensity of the impact hurls Zora backward.
This force is so great that Zora is unable to stand at his place and he flies like a feather, turns two-three times in the air and falls on the ground, bounces from there and goes back.
He crashes into a parked car, denting it severely. The crowd collectively gasps, but Zora recovers swiftly.
Zora reduced its gravity before crashing, thus reducing its impact.
A faint shimmer of energy surrounds him as he steadies himself mid-air, avoiding a harsher fall.
"I see," Zora mutters, his tone a mix of determination and apprehension. "Let’s find out whose power is stronger."
---
Zora’s power appears to be very overpowered, but that not the case here with Zora power.
Zora’s gravitational power only works within a radius of 100 meters, if a target is outside the distance of 100 meters then Zoro cannot use his power on him.
Zora can use her gravitational powers to either increase gravity or decrease gravity within a 100-meter range.
Zora is afraid that Adam might find out that he can’t use his power beyond a 100 m radius, so Zora wants to attack by keeping himself close to Adam.
Zora thrusts his arm forward, his voice booming, "Gravitational Force Field!"
The air distorts visibly around Adam as an immense gravitational force envelops him.
The ground beneath Adam’s feet fractures, spreading deep cracks outward.
The strain is palpable, yet Adam remains standing, his posture unyielding.
The people there are surprised to see that Adam is still standing despite so much gravitational force and look at Zoro, who is also very surprised.
Zora smirks, though his confidence is tinged with disbelief. He’s still standing? Impossible...
"If that’s not enough, I’ll give you more!" Zora shouts, intensifying the gravitational pull. The pressure doubles, forcing Adam’s knees to buckle slightly.
For a moment, Adam seems overwhelmed. His gloved hand brushes the ground for support.
Seeing this, Zora becomes very happy and says with a smile, "Can you still stand against my force field?"
But then, in a flash, he activates his teleportation ability.
In an instant, he vanishes and reappears several meters away, escaping the crushing force.
Zora’s eyes dart around until he spots Adam kneeling nearby, his breathing heavy.
"You thought you could escape my power?" Zora sneers, raising his hands again. The gravitational field affects everything within a 100-meter radius of Zora. "No matter where you go, you’re still within my grasp!"
Adam doesn’t respond immediately, his gaze fixed on a bystander standing unaffected near the edge of the battlefield.
Adam is very surprised to see that there is a man standing there who is not affected by the gravitational field at all.
His mind races. So, his power is limited to his immediate surroundings. The further out, the weaker it gets.
With newfound determination, Adam teleports again, this time appearing well beyond Zora’s effective range.
The shift is subtle but significant. Zora realizes Adam has escaped his 100-meter radius and frantically deactivates his force field to conserve energy.
As the gravitational pressure dissipates, the cracks on the ground become starkly visible, a testament to the sheer magnitude of Zora’s power. Adam straightens, his breathing steady once more.
"So, that’s the weakness of your power," Adam says, his voice calm yet cutting.
The words hit Zora like a hammer. His confidence wavers, replaced by unease.
Adam raises his hand again, his tone unwavering. "You won’t last much longer."
But before he can unleash another attack, Adam senses a disturbance—a faint ripple of energy approaching fast.
He lowers his hand and glances to his right. Emerging from the crowd are three young men.
---
Leading the trio is a stocky boy with brown hair, his confident swagger exuding an air of authority.
Behind him walks a tall, lanky figure with jet-black hair, his hands tucked casually into his pockets.
To their side is a short, wiry boy with similarly dark hair, his sharp eyes scanning the scene.
The group stops a few steps away from Zora. The stocky one speaks first, his voice dripping with derision.
"Is this the guy who attacked you in public?" ask hang
Zora hesitates for a split second but nods. "Yes. He attacked me out of nowhere. I don’t even know how he figured out I’m a power holder."
The fat boy exhales deeply, clearly unimpressed by Zora’s explanation. His gaze shifts to Adam, studying him intently.
Adam, meanwhile, remains silent, his mind calculating his next move. The tension between the two groups is palpable, the air thick with the anticipation of another confrontation.
And with that, the Chapter concludes, leaving the battlefield on the brink of chaos.
