Chapter 112: The Hunter’s Trap
---
Tayo hovered in the air, her delicate yet powerful wings radiating a faint glow in the dim surroundings of an abandoned building.
The scent of decay and mildew hung heavily in the air.
She scanned the area beneath her, the desolate structure teeming with vampires.
Her sharp eyes darted over the figures, noting their positions and numbers.
It was evident that this wasn’t a random encounter. They were waiting for her. All of them.
Moments ago, Adam had been beside her. His presence, a source of reassurance, suddenly vanished without explanation.
She had sensed his departure, a silent ripple in the air as if pulled by some urgent call.
"Why did he leave without a word?" she wondered, her brows furrowed. But there was no time for doubt. Whatever the reason, she knew Adam wouldn’t abandon her without cause.
Below her, the vampires moved with intent. She noticed a peculiar focus—unlike their usual chaotic assaults.
Tayo was no ordinary opponent, and the vampires knew it. This wasn’t a random skirmish. It was a calculated move, orchestrated to eliminate her.
At the forefront stood three distinct figures. These weren’t just any vampires; they were Diamond Generals—the most dangerous elite soldiers directly under the Vampire Lord’s command. Each exuded an aura of confidence and deadly precision.
Sophia, an 18-year-old girl with jet-black hair and glowing red eyes, stood confidently.
She wore casual attire—a black leather jacket and ripped jeans—that belied her lethal prowess.
Beside her, Ethan, a sharp-featured 19-year-old with raven-black hair and glasses, adjusted his spectacles.
His crimson gaze carried a cold, calculating gleam, and his neatly buttoned shirt and casual trousers gave him an air of calm intellect.
The last was Brian, a muscular figure with flaming red hair and matching crimson eyes.
His hands were buried in the pockets of his black trench coat as if he were utterly unbothered by the battle about to ensue.
Tayo descended slightly, keeping her sharp gaze on the trio. The air felt heavy with tension, like the calm before a storm.
Sophia smirked and took a step forward, her voice echoing with mocking confidence.
"You’ve caused us far too much trouble, little bird. But this ends today. You won’t escape alive."
Tayo, however, wasn’t focused on her taunts. Her mind flickered back to Adam.
She couldn’t shake the feeling of his abrupt departure, his sudden absence leaving a void. Taking a deep breath, she shook the thought from her mind.
"Focus, Tayo. You’ve dealt with worse."
Raising her hands, her slender fingers glowed faintly. The trio immediately tensed, recognizing the danger.
"Don’t just stand there!" Ethan barked. "Keep moving! Her attacks aren’t something you can block!"
Ethan has seen the attacks of the tayo so he is telling everyone so that they have a little chance to escape from the light attack of the tayo.
Sophia and Brian exchanged amused glances, disappearing into a blur as they split in opposite directions, leaving Ethan to orchestrate the plan.
Brian, with a grin, extended a hand, forming a gun shape with his fingers. His voice was low but brimming with malice.
"Fire."
From his fingers, sharpened nails shot out like bullets, their speed almost imperceptible.
Tayo caught the movement from the corner of her eye. With a calm command, she whispered, "Matter State."
Her body shimmered, becoming semi-transparent. The projectiles passed harmlessly through her, vanishing into the shadows behind her.
Seeing this, the brian gets very surprised and then a small smile comes on his face and he says in a very low voice, "You were right Ethan"
---
Without hesitation, Tayo countered. Her wings flared as she surged toward Brian, who stood with an unshaken grin.
But Brian was ready. With a quick motion, he grabbed two nearby vampires and hurled them into Tayo’s path.
Tayo barely blinked. Her hands extended forward as she activated her Burning Touch, her palms glowing with searing energy.
The two vampires erupted into flames mid-air, their screams echoing through the hall. But Brian only smiled wider.
"Let’s see how your ’state’ handles this," he muttered darkly.
A split second later, Tayo noticed something beneath the smoldering vampires’ clothes—hidden explosives. Her sharp eyes widened.
"Damn!"
The explosion was instantaneous. A deafening blast filled the space, shaking the very foundation of the building.
The impact was powerful enough to knock Tayo out of her Matter State, sending her hurtling backward.
She barely managed to stabilize herself mid-air, her wings beating furiously to regain balance.
As Tayo hovered again, shaking off the effects of the explosion, Brian raised an eyebrow. His expression wasn’t one of victory but curiosity.
"Impressive," he mused. "Most would’ve been torn apart by now. But you’re still standing."
Tayo didn’t respond. Instead, she extended her hands once more, activating her powers.
High-level vampires surged toward her from all directions, but Tayo met them head-on. As they lunged, she whispered again, "Matter State."
She passed through them effortlessly, her form shimmering. Each vampire that touched her was burned instantly, their bodies convulsing as they were reduced to ash.
But this time, there was a grim realization. One by one, the vampires around her began to detonate, their bodies rigged with explosives just like the first two.
The synchronized blasts overwhelmed her, forcing her out of her Matter State once again.
The impact flung her back, crashing her against a wall. She gritted her teeth, pushing past the pain as she steadied herself with a flap of her wings.
Sophia’s laughter echoed through the chaos.
"Look at you, struggling already. I thought you’d be more fun."
---
Tayo rose to her full height, brushing off the dust. Her expression was unwavering.
"You think this is enough to stop me?" she said coldly, her voice carrying a sharp edge.
Seeing Tayo’s condition, all the vampires there get scared and look towards the Diamond General.
Brian smirked, cracking his knuckles.
"Let’s find out."
With that, the battle raged on.
---
The Chapter ends with Tayo standing her ground against overwhelming odds, her fierce determination unshaken even as the Vampire Generals close in.
