Chapter 513: Chapter 511 Assassinate Wei Tianyang
Council Headquarters, Chairman’s Office.
Price stormed out of the office, while Pence yelled inside, "If you want to destroy yourself, don’t drag us all down with you!"
Price walked to the corner of the corridor, where Leng Kai and Wang Mingxue, their arms bandaged and in splints, their faces also wrapped in gauze, were standing with Soap, Gates, and Ghost, waiting.
"What’s the word?" Leng Kai asked.
Price didn’t speak, and everyone knew it wasn’t the place for such discussions, so they each went their separate ways.
As night fell, at a backstreet underground bar, Leng Kai and Wang Mingxue were searched by the bouncer at the door, then led through the common area into a small room inside.
Price and the others had arrived earlier, but hadn’t started their first round of drinks yet. True to his word, Ghost wore a black skull mask.
This was Price’s place, the owner owed him his life, and it was absolutely safe to discuss sensitive topics here.
As soon as they sat down, Price spoke, "That damn Pence is even planning to award him a medal."
"Damn it, Wei Tianyang is not a hero—he’s gone mad!" cursed Wang Mingxue.
"You don’t really think the council would take your word and make an enemy of such a humanoid weapon, do you?" Soap said.
"He’s become a threat, but no one is cautious. Pence thinks by killing Johnny and destroying his stronghold, all is well," Price said.
"He might have done that... but I can’t respect him. He’s not a soldier, doesn’t have the slightest appearance of one," Leng Kai shook his head.
"You’re gravely mistaken if you treat him as a soldier," Price said as the bartender brought in a dozen beers.
They opened the cans and toasted each other, wetting their throats.
"I don’t believe Johnny’s operations were all destroyed. I have some old friends in the intelligence agency. They say that Etolia is consolidating the resources of Heavenly Falling Objects in Heiside State," Price whispered.
"Heiside State has no pharmaceutical companies, and Etolia has no intention of developing Black Medicine... They’re all selling those things to other countries, aren’t they?" Ghost asked.
"That’s exactly the issue. Etolia’s doing it; the intelligence hasn’t spotted the Heavenly Falling Objects, but... the researchers and related equipment are indeed being transported in large quantities. The President of Etolia is now negotiating with other chiefs, asking them to stop selling Heavenly Falling Objects to the West, which is highly unusual," Price explained.
"Such an overt action, without a strong backing, Etolia wouldn’t dare do that," Soap said.
"Wei Tianyang is in Etolia. I don’t even have to guess—it must be his demand that the President act this way," Wang Mingxue said.
"He’s like a superpower vacuum cleaner. Maybe... it’s to make himself stronger, but what concerns me are the children he’s taken from war zones; I have a bad feeling about it," Leng Kai remarked.
Price took a sip of beer and said, "I’ve never quite believed he truly destroyed Johnny’s assets, but the council won’t investigate him. It’s up to us."
"Our intelligence isn’t sufficient, we don’t have enough equipment, and moreover... the person we’re investigating is no ordinary individual; it sounds like a suicide mission," Ghost said.
"I know a hacker who can extract some intelligence from the council’s servers. In fact..." Price pulled out a kraft paper bag from under the table and threw it on the table.
"Holy shit... you already..." Gates was shocked.
Everyone opened the envelope and passed around the files inside.
Contained within were all the top-secret intelligence on Wei Tianyang since 2106, the activity patterns of Johnny Bloodface over the last decade, and records of contacts with various countries.
"So many Heavenly Falling Object corpses, 58 bodies... truly a shocking quantity," Leng Kai commented as he read.
"If I’m not mistaken, everything should be in Wei Tianyang’s hands now. Whatever he’s using them for, it’s abnormal, and we can’t be without a supervisory mechanism, especially if he still considers himself one of us," Price said.
"I saw from them that... Wei might have never considered us his own people," Soap glanced at Leng Kai, said.
Everyone took a sip of beer; Leng Kai crushed his empty beer can and said, "That was my most embarrassing day. I had heard some stories about him, I thought he would be a hero..."
"Such good people don’t exist in this world, Kai," Ghost said.
"We have intelligence, but what about equipment?" Wang Mingxue asked.
Price leaned back in his chair and said, "I have a partner who will provide the equipment, but he can’t show up in person. I can only communicate with him through text messages, but this partner is reliable, you all can rest assured."
"What can he provide?" Leng Kai asked.
"He can provide everything we need, we just need to find clues, find evidence of the dirty things Wei Tianyang wants to do, and that’s enough to alert the council to him."
"All this trouble just for that? Not worth it," Gates shook his head.
"We are against someone who is no ordinary stuff, not a drug lord, not a warlord, nor a terrorist... when everyone thinks he is a god, we can’t do much against him. But we still choose to do this because..." Price finished his beer and crushed the empty can, "because it’s the call of our mission."
Meanwhile, in an underground bunker, Spencer sat alone in his office.
He, under the pseudonym Mr. X, had contacted the council’s Price and funded weapons and equipment for him to investigate the legacy left by Johnny.
It was just a smokescreen.
He didn’t even tell Price that he shouldn’t directly mention Wei Tianyang’s name.
Price still hoped to use current laws and military power to counter Wei Tianyang, but only Spencer knew that was impractical.
Wei Tianyang is not a threat, but a crisis.
Ezekiel recently saw another future where she wandered in a red world, surrounded by tranquil and peaceful villages, and humanity seemed to have regressed to tribal times.
In the sky, a warm sun shone through thick red clouds.
The sun wasn’t too high above the ground, the clouds couldn’t hide it, and there was no more night.
Those villagers told Ezekiel that they were basking in the glory of God and that soon, they would welcome a grand harmony.
The chosen people would be endowed with a triangular form, three people in a group, finally merging into one, becoming a trinity.
That trinity was a huge individual; Ezekiel had seen them, in front of a building resembling a temple, genderless, about five meters tall, covered in chitin armor, slender yet powerful, with beautiful androgynous faces, and long red hair.
These trinities kneeled on one knee, quietly waiting and guarding at the temple’s entrance.
And these temples, the villagers called them "Cocoons."
The future Ezekiel saw unsettled Spencer; he had already concluded that the apocalypse would be caused by Wei Tianyang.
He is not a threat...
He is a crisis...
Now, only by killing Wei Tianyang can we prevent that future from coming.
