I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 490 - 488: Concerns
Chapter 490: Chapter 488: Concerns
The next day.
On the street next to the Pei Guode Hotel, black official cars filled the area.
Bunub brought his staff once again, entering the hotel through the side door and directly ascending to the 28th floor with the help of a receptionist.
It was the same empty room; Helena Mina had been waiting at the table for a long time. Bunub, already familiar with the procedure, instructed his entourage to bow to Helena Mina just as he did.
"I have followed your orders and brought my servants," Bunub said.
"He is coming," Helena Mina nodded.
At that moment, the door opened, and Wei Tianyang walked into the room with Baphomet.
Everyone consciously cleared a path for him, and as he walked past them, he waved his hand, and the door gently closed.
Bunub was the first to kneel on one knee, bowing his head to Wei Tianyang, followed closely by the others, as if they were knights paying homage to a king.
"Are these people the best in their respective fields?" Wei Tianyang asked.
Bunub respectfully replied, "They are the finest in the country in various sectors, I swear it to you."
To control a country, merely controlling a president was far from enough. He needed a stronger team to manage a vast organization.
A king without his right-hand and left-hand men would instantly be sidelined and eradicated; Zhao Ling was a prime example.
Now, Bunub had brought his servants here, from business to military, from domestic to foreign affairs, from culture to religion... every aspect of the country was controlled by these 26 people, the room almost bursting at its seams.
Etolia was an experiment; if he could control a country in this way, then he could emulate this control in the next.
One by one... he could consolidate power by merely eradicating a small portion of the upper echelon’s will, in exchange for the diversity and autonomy of the global human population, and unite everyone.
This was his compromise.
He was unwilling to live in a world filled only with puppets; he was not a ruler, he was a leader.
He walked among them, extending his right hand, gently touching their shoulders, planting a mark, and offering them protection.
Now, these politicians need not worry about being ruthlessly assassinated for implementing policies that did not align with domestic oligarchs or external forces.
Any harm they suffered would be transferred to Wei Tianyang; car accidents, plane crashes, shootings... such attacks, to Wei Tianyang, were at most akin to a mosquito bite.
Moreover, he did not need a phone to communicate with them; Helena Mina could sense his will and convey his words to all those who bore his mark, like a prophet of God speaking to the faithful.
Bunub knew the deed was done; fearful of wasting Wei Tianyang’s time, he led everyone away.
Helena Mina looked younger once more; now in her forties, she appeared no longer an old woman but a truly mature woman.
Her face was now hard to spot any wrinkles, and her physical strength had recovered to the level it should be in her prime, the nearly decaying body was regenerating.
"Helena, do communicating with them cause you any mental burden?" Wei Tianyang asked.
He still did not understand the principle of this communication, and he was not so clear about the characteristics of his own kindred.
"I don’t feel anything strange, as if this ability has always been inherent in me, and, I think you needn’t worry about me. Our only purpose of existence is to fulfill your wishes," Helena Mina said.
In front of Wei Tianyang, she no longer resembled a chairman; her expression as she looked up at him was filled with a sort of self-destructive passion.
Wei Tianyang nodded and turned away; he felt that Helena Mina had already died, and what lived now was merely a zealous shell.
"Baphomet, this is what I’m worried about, they will gradually lose themselves, even though I didn’t take away their minds... She is no longer the Helena Mina she used to be," Wei Tianyang communicated telepathically.
"Don’t feel sad, horned one. In front of others, she is still her; she hasn’t changed. The way she acts around you is only because your level and tier of life are far above hers. The imprint you planted not only controls her subconscious but actually, also unlocked a new kind of cognition and senses for her. Kindred can clearly sense the strength of life, similar to the natural world’s predator-prey relationships," Baphomet explained and continued communicating, "Wild animals actually possess this sense too. It’s just that humans have been at the top of the food chain for too long in this world and gradually lost this sense. Those who know how dangerous you are, their understanding stops at your destructive and violent level, not the levels of life because they don’t have that concept."
"Such an explanation... doesn’t make me feel much better. After all, Helena Mina still behaves like this when she’s with me, nodding to whatever I say, she won’t oppose me like she used to," Wei Tianyang said.
"Do you prefer others to oppose you rather than agree with you?" Baphomet asked, somewhat puzzled.
"My past experiences have made me who I am now. If the world only echoes agreement, then I have stopped growing. When everyone says I am right, at that time, this world and Hell will not be much different," Wei Tianyang said.
"Suit yourself, horned one, but a god doesn’t make mistakes, and you must get used to it. A god defines right and wrong," Baphomet said.
Wei Tianyang placed his hand on Helena Mina’s shoulder and said, "Tell everyone, I don’t want them to be too aggressive outside, I don’t want them to get into intense conflicts with others; your situation should never happen again."
Helena Mina closed her eyes, as if in a trance, and after a while, she said, "Done."
Wei Tianyang nodded and then left the room with her.
Causing conflicts was a meaningless act; he didn’t want his kindred to be running wild outside and then be targeted.
He wanted to covertly infiltrate the nations, to control the global discourse, ideally without any bloodshed.
After all, human life is the most precious resource on this planet... The stars in the sky are numerous, but the population of Earth adds up to just over eight billion; not everyone could become a super soldier, experiments would always involve significant losses.
If the kindred’s actions were too radical, it could alert other nations, complicating matters unnecessarily, as pointless military actions would only squander human lives.
Servants were waiting outside the door; after they left, several female servants entered to clean, while another attendant escorted Helena Mina back to her room.
Wei Tianyang hadn’t imprisoned her; she was free to leave. He even provided Helena Mina with a cellphone, which had Pei Guode Hotel’s financial accounts linked, allowing her to buy anything she wished, just as she had once done for him.
But Helena Mina didn’t step out of the house; she stayed in the hotel all day, either reading books or walking in the lobby, seemingly uninterested in the outside world.
Helena Mina was a capable person; it was too wasteful to let her idle away her days here.
Rada Gan was not at Pei Guode, occupied with handling the drilling platforms, and the hotel was unmanaged, reliant on individual departments to operate. Wei Tianyang made a decision, he sent a message to Rada Gan; until his return, Helena would operate the hotel in his stead.
