I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 476 - 474: Performance of the Clan
Chapter 476: Chapter 474: Performance of the Clan
Wei Tianyang had tormented Cha Na for half an hour, and the boy had no fight left, only self-blame. Thinking it was enough, he left the room.
After returning to his own room, the black girl had been waiting for a long time, the coffee on the table untouched.
Quigui Ge saw that Wei Tianyang’s right hand was covered in blood and flesh, so he pulled a golden handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to him respectfully.
He took the handkerchief and carefully wiped his hands, but the blood was too much, and the entire handkerchief turned red, his hands still slippery.
Quigui Ge then grabbed his hand and wiped it on his own sleeve. Wei Tianyang shook his head, returned the handkerchief to him then gestured for him to stand aside.
Wei Tianyang sat across the table and said, "Tess, the coffee has gone cold."
"How do you know my name...?" Tess asked nervously.
"Because you keep talking to yourself in your head, too loudly," Wei Tianyang said.
"So..." Tess began, but the voice from the TV interrupted her.
The cartoon plot was reaching a climax, Yaha stretched his neck and stared intently at the screen, gripping Baphomet’s horns tightly, while the black sheep wagged its tail.
Wei Tianyang looked at Tess and said, "Go on."
"There’s a rumor that you are the owner of this hotel and have been kidnapping those children?" Tess said.
"I’m not the owner. I don’t participate in the management. Pei Guode has a dedicated management team. As for those children, I am saving them," Wei Tianyang said evenly.
"You just killed a child in front of me," Tess said.
"But he came back to life, didn’t he?" Wei Tianyang said.
"You kidnap them just for this amusement?" Tess said.
Wei Tianyang didn’t retort. He disdained to retort. He didn’t need to explain to anyone. He remained silent for a while and then laughed.
"Who can stop me?" he asked.
Tess hadn’t expected him to say that and replied, "There’s a rumor that the real owner of Pei Guode is the hero who blocked a nuclear bomb at Libitelli over a decade ago..."
"Heroes are a concocted notion," Wei Tianyang said.
"Are you Wei Tianyang?" Tess asked.
"I give you a choice," Wei Tianyang said.
Tess looked at him, waiting anxiously.
"I tell you who I am, the truth you seek. But after learning the truth, you won’t be able to leave this hotel alive, as that’s the rule above the 21st floor of Pei Guode."
"Or, you shake hands with me now, and then... I let you leave," Wei Tianyang said slowly.
Tess already had her answer, but she wanted to hear him admit it.
Her hand slipped into her bag and pressed the speed dial on her phone.
She didn’t struggle with herself for long. Even if she died, the person on the phone would hear this conversation.
"Tell me who you are," Tess demanded.
"Why insist so much?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"Truth is as important as life," Tess said.
"Maybe not," Wei Tianyang said.
"No, truth is not a concoction, sir. Truth is the only thing," Tess said.
Wei Tianyang looked at her, silent for a while.
On the other end of the line, someone nervously held the phone by the window, barely daring to breathe.
"We shake hands, and then... you leave here, the best choice. You already have your answer, no need to die for it," Wei Tianyang persuaded.
"I want to know, I want to hear you say it, I want to know, if you are still the hero who blocked the nuclear bomb at Libitelli," Tess said.
"I..." Wei Tianyang had just begun to speak when someone knocked on the door.
Quigui Ge glanced at Wei Tianyang, received his nod, and then opened the door.
Standing in the doorway were Rada Gan and his companion, Helena Mina.
The two at the door hadn’t expected Wei Tianyang to be meeting with an unfamiliar guest and found themselves in an awkward situation. Rada Gan patted his forehead and said, "Oh dear, it seems this room can’t accommodate too many people."
"Come in, Rada Gan, come in, and you too, Helena. Quigui Ge, make them some coffee," Wei Tianyang said with a smile.
Rada Gan did not decline and walked into the room with Helena Mina.
Helena Mina looked ten years younger than during her last visit; her wrinkles had decreased and lightened, the corners of her eyes weren’t as creased, and her apple cheeks had become much smoother. The aged rings around her snowy white neck were gone, and a lot of golden threads had started appearing amidst her grey hair. With the aid of cosmetic technology, she now appeared to be just over fifty,
"Who is this?" Ms. Helen asked with a smile as she took a seat at the table.
Tess recognized Helena Mina, knowing that the person seated on her left was the chair of the United Council. For a moment, she was so surprised that she couldn’t speak.
Rada Gan sat opposite Helena, looked at Tess and Wei Tianyang, and kept quiet, maintaining the silence.
"A journalist seeking the truth," Wei Tianyang said as he looked toward Helena Mina, smiling.
"The truth is sometimes not important," Helena Mina said to Tess with a smile.
"Ms. Helen... I am... Tess, a local newspaper journalist," Tess said, extending her hand.
Helena did not shake her hand, just smiled and looked at her.
Tess awkwardly withdrew her hand, feeling that something was amiss.
"Shake my hand, then leave this place, Tess. You’re still young," Wei Tianyang said.
"Tell me with your own mouth, who are you?" Tess, gathering courage from somewhere, blurted out.
Helena Mina looked at Tess with a displeased expression, her arms crossed over her knees.
At that moment, Quigui Ge brought two cups of coffee to the table and placed the cups in front of Rada Gan.
Rada Gan noticed the blood on Quigui Ge’s sleeve.
"Tell me..." Tess said.
Wei Tianyang no longer tried to persuade her and said, "A civilized man abides by rules, yet he must also possess the capacity for barbaric actions. We use barbarism to protect the civilization we have built. Here in this small hotel, above the 21st floor, any uninvited intruders only face a dead end."
"We are civilized and also barbaric. It’s not contradictory. I was willing to bend the rules for you earlier and give you a way out. But you have repeatedly forced my hand."
"I will tell you who I am, but you must pay a price. That price is your life. It’s your choice, and I hope you won’t regret it because now there is no turning back, and I won’t give you a chance to change your mind."
Wei Tianyang took a deep breath; at that moment, Quigui Ge had already flipped open his coat, revealing a gun holster.
"I am Wei Tianyang, the one who stopped a nuclear bomb, and also the one who eradicated a million people. Whether I am anyone’s hero doesn’t matter, because in this world, apart from life and death, there is no absolute concept. Right and wrong, good and evil, these are all relative," he said.
Tears streamed from Tess’s eyes as she slightly opened her mouth.
Her bag trembled; she had already recorded the phone voice. The owner of the Pei Guode Hotel was Wei Tianyang; she had obtained his own confession. This was global headline news.
Quigui Ge was ready to draw his gun when suddenly, Helena Mina got up, extended her hands, and grabbed Tess by the neck.
"Ms. Helen...," Tess screamed.
The two fell to the floor, and Helena, with a fierce expression, pinned Tess underneath her, pressing down hard on her neck.
She couldn’t breathe and tried to push Helena away, but the older woman was stronger than she had anticipated.
She heard Rada Gan nearby, sipping coffee and saying, "Quigui Ge, your sleeve is covered in blood."
She then heard Wei Tianyang say, "It’s that little bastard’s blood; I wiped it on him."
Rada Gan said again, "Take it off and wash it."
Wei Tianyang said, "Buy him a new one."
The sounds grew fainter as the lack of oxygen caused excruciating pain in her chest. The agony of suffocation lasted for minutes, her trachea was crushed, blood seeped from her mouth, and then she fell into unconsciousness.
Helena Mina knelt on the ground, breathing heavily, having strangled the young woman with her own hands.
