I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 458 - 456 Life

Chapter 458: Chapter 456 Life

p.m., dusk.

Pei Guode Hotel on the 27th floor, room 2740.

Starbucks had finished her own dinner and wiped her mouth with a silk handkerchief.

The meals were always plentiful, and tonight, she had roasted squab, mashed potatoes, rice, sweet salad vegetables, and some unnamed vegetable broth, accompanied by a small dish of red petite fruits and a steaming latte for dessert.

The hotel’s staff had a dedicated kitchen to separately prepare their work meals and dinners, which were not made with leftover ingredients but with specially purchased ones.

Thunder rumbled outside the window, and the deep black slowly pushed back the sunlight. Clouds moved east, with blue lightning flickering within.

Rain was on the way.

She clasped her hands over her chest in silent gratitude for Wei Tianyang changing her destiny that night. Then, she picked up the pure gold tray and left the room.

Asihar happened to emerge from the staff elevator, pushing a cart filled with stacks of porcelain bowls and golden plates. Starbucks exchanged a smile with her.

Asihar was probably in her early thirties, a single mother who had become a kitchen cleaner here six years ago. She was tasked with delivering meals to the mysterious guests above the 21st floor and was also the first person Starbucks got to know at the hotel.

"Let me help," Starbucks said.

She stacked the bowls on top of the others and then placed the golden tray to the side.

There was a green trash bin at the front of the cart for collecting kitchen waste, which was quite heavy for one person to push.

The two of them chatted and laughed as they entered the elevator.

"There are more and more kids," Asihar said.

"Wei... He’s rescuing the war orphans and other children in perilous circumstances who can’t get care. The hotel is large enough, and there are many vacant rooms from the 21st to the 27th floor," Starbucks said.

"No matter how big the hotel is, it can’t accommodate all the orphans in the world. I keep watching the news, and there are wars everywhere... it’s just too sad. Did you see the news from Rums recently? That place has started to become chaotic too," Asihar said, shaking her head.

"The more it happens, the more grateful I am to have been rescued. I can’t imagine what my life would be like if I were still in Yin Country. That scam gang’s dark room haunts me for life," said Starbucks, feeling a shudder at the thought.

"Isn’t that the truth, dear? Look at me; I had a child at 16 and spent every day on the streets hustling for odd jobs, uneducated and illiterate. If Pei Guode Hotel hadn’t taken me in, I might have ended up on the streets with my child. He provided me with a job and living conditions that I wouldn’t even dare to dream of, and it’s a lifelong employment contract too," Asihar expressed her gratitude.

"I’ve read some reports about him; many people don’t like Him, and the opinions about Him from different countries are very contradictory. I don’t understand why these people won’t admit He’s God," Starbucks said.

"They’re not afraid to admit it, you know, there are many religions in this world. They worship gods that they can neither see nor touch. What does that mean? Their beliefs are meaningless, merely granting a group of individuals privileges. They won’t admit He’s the real, the only God, simply because they don’t want to give up their privileges," Asihar said with a laugh.

Then, she added, "In this hotel, we have dignified work, generous income, good food, respect, and protection. There’s no abuse or discrimination here, and even drug lords and warlords that come in don’t dare to show us a nasty face. Did you know? Our boss Rada Gan even bows and greets me. When the President of Libitelli stayed here for a week, he would humbly chat with the meal delivery staff every day, and when he checked out, he was reluctant to leave. I used to be an atheist, not anymore."

"They know He’s here. They want to see Him. And we get to see Him every day," Starbucks reveled in her contentment.

"That new boy, he’s a bit unruly," Asihar said.

"Yishenmali... I was teaching him the Yin language, and I could tell He was quite fond of that child. I heard from Quigui Ge that Yishenmali was a name He had used before. Do you know what that means? It means he’s a child of divine selection. So am I! The name I was granted was that of his former companion..." Starbucks chuckled.

"I’m really envious of you all... but I am already satisfied, I will work here for a lifetime, as long as I am breathing, I will serve Him plates, unless He decides to abandon me, but I won’t hold a grudge against Him. By then, He will surely have His reasons," Asihar said.

"Don’t think like that. He wouldn’t do that," Starbucks said.

"I am willing to accept any decision He makes, without complaint. Among the children we’ve taken in recently, there are two infants. Rada Gan has entrusted one of them to me; it requires some time to take proper care of him. The other children, especially the three older ones, are still somewhat wary of this place. I worry they might do something inappropriate, like Yishenmali did," Asihar expressed.

"That was seriously over the line, Yishenmali didn’t know he was blessed! He was only slightly punished; his arm was just twisted. I hope he learns something from this," Starbucks commented.

"I mean, that’s why his arm is in a splint. Actually, He could heal him instantly, but this time, Yishenmali has to patiently wait for his body to heal itself. He was really angry this time," Asihar added.

As the two chatted, the elevator reached the first floor. This elevator went directly to the kitchen without passing through the lobby or the main hall.

The chubby, 40-year-old African American Uncle George was clearing kitchen waste, while dozens of dishwashers were working hard in the cleaning room next to it.

"Hey, ladies," George greeted with a smile.

"The kitchen is about to start making the dessert for tonight, right?" Starbucks asked with a grin.

"We always make some extra. After 9 o’clock, you girls can come and take a look," George replied with a chuckle.

"Come on, don’t waste ingredients; save some money for the hotel," Asihar said.

"Oh, old maid, you’re always such a killjoy. How about this, we’ll be done by 11 tonight; you free then?" George asked.

"I have to take care of the children; go find someone else to date," Asihar laughed.

"Don’t be like that, bring your son out, we can go for a walk in the park together," George suggested with a laugh.

"My boss has entrusted an infant to me, you know, it’s His mission," Asihar said seriously.

George became serious as well, nodded, and said, "Alright, I understand. That matter is probably more important than anything."

"But George... you can come over to my place to see the child. I believe you could help out," Asihar suggested.

After she finished speaking, she went off alone, pushing a cart into the cleaning room, where the sound of washing dishes was endless.

George made a victorious fist gesture with one hand.

Starbucks smiled and said, "She’s also interested in you, George."

"A weight off my heart, Starbucks! I won’t let her down, I promise," George replied with a smile.

Starbucks smiled back, watching him drag two trash bins out through the service exit, then running into the cleaning room to help with the dishes.

This world is filled with pain, and many people’s lives have little meaning.

But love, love indeed makes life so much more beautiful.
