I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 434 - 432: Deja Vu

Chapter 434: Chapter 432: Deja Vu

To reach the northern great forest in Chicken Snake Country, it would take more than ten days by foot.

Chen Ke didn’t have that much time, he needed a car, and he could handle that himself.

This country was full of soldiers on the streets, but these soldiers looked no different from local thugs.

Propaganda floats moved slowly through the streets, continuously broadcasting the words and calls of the local faction leaders, and the expressions on people’s faces were grave as they went about making a living while worrying about the future.

Anyone with discernment could see that this country was on the verge of a civil war.

As for when it would start? That required a trigger. At least for now, there were no signs of it.

Chen Ke left the city, walked along the highway for a while, and then stood by the roadside waiting.

A car would pass by eventually.

He just needed to pick an unlucky one.

He let several old civilian cars go by as well as some trucks, and after a wait of nearly half an hour, he saw a military truck coming.

From afar, the cargo bed was empty, with three in the cab.

Chen Ke walked into the middle of the road, watching as the truck rapidly approached.

The truck honked its horn to warn him but he didn’t budge; he kept his right hand behind his back and drew his Glock.

The other side had no intention of slowing down.

The vehicle was only ten steps away from him and was even speeding up, the several-ton truck rushing at him with a gust of hot air; behind the windshield, the three soldiers wore sinister smiles.

Just as the truck was about to reach Chen Ke, it suddenly stopped right where it was, and a semi-transparent white sphere enveloped this small three-meter radius section of the road.

Time stalled inside it, and the cruel smiles were still on the soldiers’ faces, while the sand and pebbles that had been kicked up around the wheels also hung in midair.

These three wanted to kill him—after all, they were soldiers; whether they ran over someone or not didn’t matter in Chicken Snake Country.

Chen Ke thought the same.

He jumped onto the cargo bed, then lifted the time freeze.

The vehicle thundered forward as if nothing had happened.

The truck moved about twenty meters forward, slowly decelerated, then stopped. The three soldiers got out, chattering, and walked back along the road they came from; one even lay on the ground to check under the vehicle.

At that moment, Chen Ke stood in the cargo bed, raised his gun, and fired two shots at the two unsuspecting soldiers, the Divine Blood Bullets shattering the backs of their heads, and instantly, their brains splattered all over.

He jumped down from the cargo bed, his eyes seeing through the vehicle, and spotted another soldier picking up an 81-style rifle hanging by his side, firing at the cargo bed.

Chen Ke ducked down and shot through the bottom of the vehicle, shattering his feet.

He heard the soldier cry out in pain, so he circled around the vehicle to see the soldier lying on the ground clutching his broken limb, his face contorted in agony.

Chen Ke walked over to him and fired two more shots into his heart, the bullets’ force was so great that it shattered his chest.

He hopped into the truck, looked around—it was an old-fashioned manual truck with a military map clipped to the dashboard and a bottle of water placed in front of the steering wheel.

Chen Ke closed the door, turned the key, and re-started the engine, then unfolded the military map to take a look.

To get to the northern forest, they had to pass through a small city called Kongse, and the military vehicle might attract trouble, so Chen Ke found a detour on the map that skirted around Kongse through the countryside.

The truck’s fuel tank was full; such a truck, unburdened and with a full tank, could easily run over 400 kilometers.

Half an hour later, he had already driven more than 20 kilometers out; the surrounding landscape was desolate, either yellow soil or messy cracked grassland.

At that moment, two small silhouettes by the roadside ahead were waving their hands at him.

Chen Ke looked closely—two people, not particularly tall, coming closer, he saw they were two women.

These two dared to stop a military vehicle? Could they really be military prostitutes?

He merely glanced briefly, one woman with white hair wearing a baggy white short-sleeve shirt and jeans, and the other with red hair donned in a black tank top and jeans.

Their age was similar to his own...

As the car passed by them, Chen Ke checked the rearview mirror, thought for a moment, and then hit the brakes, before slowly reversing.

The two women walked towards the car. Chen Ke leaned out of the window, his right hand holding a gun concealed below, and asked the women, "Need a lift?"

The two women nodded with smiles.

The white-haired woman was delicately beautiful, with a pair of impressive amber eyes. Her white hair gradually turned tea-colored at the tips and was tied up with a deep red silk ribbon drooping over her shoulder.

The red-haired woman had a valiant look, her tank top outlining a well-built physique with evenly muscled arms that appeared capable and efficient.

Neither of them carried anything, nor did they have bags.

The white-haired woman smiled and said, "If you don’t mind, could you help us out? We’re headed to Kongse."

Chen Ke gestured for them to get in, then put away his handgun.

The two entered the cabin from the other side. Chen Ke paused for a moment but then noticed the red-haired woman sitting in the middle and the white-haired woman on the right, who shut the door with a clang.

"The bed of the truck is empty," Chen Ke said.

"There’s blood on it, and sitting outside in the hot wind is bad for my skin," the white-haired woman said, tilting her head to avoid the red-haired woman, smiling at Chen Ke.

"You see blood and still dare to get in my car?" Chen Ke asked with a smile.

"Time is life, isn’t it? Let’s not be strangers~ Meeting on the road is also fate," the white-haired woman replied with a smile.

This person revealed a bright smile to Chen Ke, her tone lazy, her voice sounding like that of a prepubescent boy, her appearance enchanting and seductive. The loose white shirt slightly bulged at the chest, yet it seemed like it didn’t.

"Are you dressed as a man or as a woman?" Chen Ke couldn’t help asking.

"Does gender matter?" The white-haired woman asked with a smile.

"It’s quite important..." Chen Ke said, confused by her statement.

"My name is Yaha, and this is my friend, Starbucks. We’re backpacking. We might be short on money, but trust me, we’ll compensate you," Yaha said with a smile.

"What do you plan to pay me with?"

"I can compensate you," the red-haired woman said, looking at Chen Ke.

"You’ve got a small folding knife hidden in there," Chen Ke said, looking between her legs.

She hurriedly covered that area, her eyes glowing bright red, but she also saw a blue halo flickering in Chen Ke’s eyes.

"This just got interesting," Yaha said with a laugh.

"We’re just hitching a ride; we don’t want any trouble. Are you special forces from Yin Country or from Churi Country?" Starbucks asked.

"You also have superpowers," Chen Ke said.

"We’re different from you; we are..." Yaha extended her hand to show an unsealed inverted triangle mark.

So they were Medicine People.

"Are you fugitives?" Chen Ke asked.

"We can’t disclose that unless we trust you," Starbucks said.

"I understand, I won’t ask further. How do you think I’m special forces?" Chen Ke asked.

"You are professional, you dare to hijack military vehicles, and I’ve never seen Medicine People dressed in suits; you look well-supported. We’re not the same," Yaha said.

"If you’re fleeing, Kongse isn’t a good destination," Chen Ke said, opening a military map to show them.

"Look, there are barracks being constructed near Kongse, and several factions have outposts around," Chen Ke added.

"We’re not running away; we’re preparing to retaliate," Yaha said with a smile.
