Chapter 428: Chapter 426 Shooting Incident
No matter how you put it, Chen Ke only had twelve hours, such a short time didn’t allow him to accomplish anything.
This wasn’t Opportunity City, nor was it the United Federation; there were no doors for him to traverse everywhere. Moreover, he had to be careful and cautious to avoid using too strong powers, which might cause him to be sent back.
Finding someone on a planet was like looking for a needle in a haystack; he needed time, and time was also his strength in battle.
People walked back and forth on the street, and at the traffic light junction, the flow of cars moved orderly, starting and stopping. The shops on the street played pop music, and nearby, a square blinked with multicolored advertisements.
He zoned out for a while, finding it hard to imagine that this was a scene from a few years before the end of the world—or rather, it should have been. Wei Tianyang at this time point should not yet have become Divine Power Tianyang; finding him would be difficult, but killing him should be quite easy.
Chen Ke needed time, and his time could increase by the killing intent of others—the stronger they were, the more time would be added.
He was getting ready for a big job.
Although this went against moral principles, theoretically speaking, this world had nothing to do with him, and moreover, if he didn’t intervene, by the year 2137, they would all be doomed anyway.
So, Chen Ke didn’t have much of a psychological burden; he just wanted to find some powerful people and provoke them.
The pedestrians on the street obviously did not meet his requirements, but killing a few passersby could attract police spectators; killing a few police could bring in SWAT teams, and killing a few SWAT members...might just draw the world’s Spiritual Agents.
Chen Ke had a way to retreat entirely unscathed; he just needed to find the right target to trigger.
But after some thought, he felt that killing people on the street was also too inefficient, so he turned his gaze toward the White House.
Thus, he swaggered toward the White House.
Approaching the large iron gate, his eyes flickered with a blue halo, his vision penetrated the walls, and the people inside the house appeared outlined with blue lines.
He counted carefully; there weren’t many people.
But this was the White House; going inside to kill a few would stir up chaos on the streets.
Chen Ke didn’t choose to shoot from outside; he wanted to find a good position, a spot suitable for exchanging fire with a large number of military and police. Moreover, when the world’s Spiritual Agents arrived, he wouldn’t be exposed immediately.
He patted the suit on his body, the assassin’s suit that he hadn’t used in a long time brought him a meme ignoring effect.
Pushing open the iron gate, Chen Ke walked in, crossed the west lawn, passed the fountain, climbed the stairs, and briskly entered the main hall through the front door.
He looked back at the doorframe fitted with a black surveillance camera, and in the four corners around the lens, four laser points kept flashing.
"Hope you guys have spotted me," Chen Ke muttered to himself.
He went upstairs, pushing open the door on the left side of the room to take a look—not good, this room was too small.
He came out and checked the second room; a lady was reviewing documents there.
Not good, too small, these were all singular offices.
He walked further inside and pushed open another door; this was a spacious conference room.
Perfect, this would do.
Chen Ke noticed the time remaining was only eleven hours and thirty-seven minutes at the corner of his eye. When the time reset, he would be kicked back to the Illusion Dream Core.
He patted his suit and disabled his concealment, just as a black man walked out of a room on the first floor. He closed the door and turned around to see Chen Ke standing by the conference room door.
The black man did not show any odd behavior, assuming Chen Ke was a colleague he did not recognize. He was about to leave when Chen Ke stepped forward to stop him.
"Wait, wait, sir," Chen Ke said, stretching out his left hand to block the man’s chest.
Noticing no badge on Chen Ke’s chest and seeing his dangerously smiling face, the black man grew cautious, his hand slowly moving to the holster inside his coat.
Chen Ke said, "I’m not targeting you."
The next second, a Glock pistol appeared in his right hand.
"Who are you...?" the black man hastily retreated to draw his gun.
By the time he had partly drawn his gun, Chen Ke had already shot both of the man’s thighs, causing him to scream and kneel on the ground. Chen Ke then stepped forward and fired a shot at the man’s forehead.
The crystal bullet, solidified from Divine Blood, was exceedingly powerful against humans. The black man’s head was blown off halfway, and his thighs burst open, blood pouring out like spilled cola, staining the carpet completely.
After the gunshot, the alarm in the White House immediately blared loudly, and Chen Ke kicked aside the black man’s corpse, grabbed the conference room door with his left hand, and set the starting point with a thought.
Then, carrying his pistol, he walked to the stairwell door, twisted the doorknob, but found the clerk inside had locked it.
He shot at the doorknob twice, blood flowing from the muzzle, and burst the door open.
Chen Ke entered and saw the clerk hiding under the table. He shot at the back of the table, killing her instantly.
He saw through the wall that the agents in the building were starting to converge towards him. He glanced at the room’s monitor again and confirmed that he was locked onto.
Chen Ke, looking through the wall again, saw three agents rushing up the stairwell. He moved to the door, and before they could react, he darted out, performing targeted shooting and unleashing over a dozen bullets, turning the three men into bloody, mangled flesh, rolling down the stairs.
The next second, gunshots sounded from behind, and several bullets hit his back, causing him to stumble. Without looking, he reached behind and shot wildly.
"I hit him! I hit him!" the agents shouted from inside the room.
Chen Ke stood up with support from the wall. Two agents burst out shooting at him, hitting his chest and abdomen repeatedly, and a large chunk of his forehead was blown away.
He sat on the ground and shot at the two men, shattering one’s lower body and hitting the other in the chest, the bullet exiting through the back, tearing out a basin-sized blood hole, spilling intestines and viscera all over the carpet.
Chen Ke stood up, his bullet wounds healing instantly. His mouth moved slightly as he spit out flattened bullets to the side.
These people were too weak, their killing intent too feeble, adding no time at all, even wasting half an hour to regenerate his body.
However, they weren’t his target. Chen Ke was hoping for stronger special forces and people with superpowers to arrive.
He looked towards the row of rooms, about ten agents had come up from the back door, hiding inside.
He holstered the Glock and conjured a Barrett REC7 assault rifle from thin air, pulled the bolt, and shot through the wall, firing over twenty bullets in three seconds, killing the agents hiding behind the wall en masse.
He heard the sound of numerous police sirens closing in, accompanied by the rumbling engines of armored personnel carriers, Chen Ke knew what he was waiting for had likely arrived.
He hurried down the stairs. At this time, the office staff on the first floor had not yet evacuated. He fired at them, killing a large number.
Outside the main entrance, four policemen with black assault rifles arrived for support. As soon as he appeared, they raised their guns and shot at him.
Chen Ke’s left hand manifested a small blue diamond, which upon his mental command instantly transformed into a tower shield, protecting his body. He placed the REC7 on the shield and blindly fired out the door.
