Chapter 427: Chapter 425: This Spiritual Energy is Deadly
"Is there a possibility—I mean, is there a chance that I could borrow your abilities, combine them with mine, and then create a bug?"
In a top-floor meeting room of a skyscraper, a group of over a dozen people had gathered.
Their attire varied, and they came from different ethnic backgrounds, all discussing something.
An Asian man in a suit stood by a floor-to-ceiling window, talking to a cyborg whose body was entirely made of synthetic parts.
From here, one could see the cityscape of Opportunity City. After that incident had concluded, the order within the city had been well maintained, with no Spiritual Energy explosion incidents for quite some time. The Spiritual Energy industry had become a sunset industry, and everyone was transitioning to blockchain and digital collectables.
"In theory, it’s feasible. I can alter the world’s rules, so that the world believes it has entered the year 2137. Then within a small range, I can trigger an event shelving, which you can exploit with your time travel abilities to go back to before the year 2137 in the real world," said the cyborg.
"But I remember you mentioned that after the event shelving is triggered, we will collide with reality and lose all our abilities. By that time, having lost all my cultivation, I would be utterly powerless to confront Divine Power Tianyang," a sword cultivator dressed in a dark blue ancient robe and carrying a bundle of flying swords interjected from one side.
"A king does not speak of defeat in front of his subjects. I’m sure this clanking fellow will find a way!" A European Knight donning black armor approached, his left hand resting on a gem-studded sword hilt, a red cape draping down one shoulder.
"This is a bug. Once he jumps in, he’ll retain a certain degree of his abilities. But he can’t use too much force, or else..." the cyborg said.
"If... he overexerts, will our friend disappear in that world?" asked the Knight.
"No. He bears the White King within his body, which is the essence of our world. He won’t disappear, just be repelled back here," the cyborg replied.
"What... what’s the price then?" the Knight inquired again.
"Such a jump requires a huge amount of energy. I can use my ’lifespan’ to boost him, possibly spending nearly all the lifespan I’ve accumulated on just one jump. But that means, once I’m there, aside from only being able to use the most basic superpower, I would also have very limited time. If my lifespan hits zero, I would also be repelled back to the Illusion Dream Core," said the man in the suit.
"The opportunities are limited. Rewriting the world’s laws consumes precious materials like star cores, which can only be produced by dying stars. And I only have two in my possession," the cyborg said.
"It’s worth it," stated the man in the suit.
"Right... there’s one more thing I forgot to mention... your black pistol and white shotgun, their essences are cosmic entities. You cannot take them with you. Just sending you over consumes one star core, let alone those two... they’re not worth my effort," the cyborg mentioned.
"It’s alright; I don’t need to use anything too powerful," the man in the suit replied.
"We just need to go back to before he became Divine Power... It should be quite straightforward," the Knight suggested.
"Killing someone relies on precision and determination, both of which I possess. I’m a professional," said the man in the suit.
"It’s just a pity that if we could have defeated Divine Power Tianyang at his peak, our fame would have resonated throughout the heavens," the sword cultivator lamented.
"Rather than fame, I’d prefer to resolve this issue securely," the man in the suit declared.
The sword cultivator did not speak, but smiled and shook his head, while the Knight turned and walked away to chat with a group of Witches.
The cyborg moved to stand in a corner and announced, "Divinity Extraordinary, transfer me over. Unit number three."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the blue camera lenses in the cyborg’s eyes lost their glow. The body gradually faded to an iron gray, and the two large cooling fans inside shut down.
The man in the suit knew the cyborg was now preparing aboard the spacecraft. He saw in the innermost part of the room, a hulking figure silently fiddling with a military saber.
He approached and said, "I’m off to visit the world you once knew, any travel tips?"
"Find him, kill him," the bulky figure replied.
"You always get straight to the point," the man in the suit said with a smile.
"Listen closely," the bulky man said, rising to his feet—he was a full head taller than the man in the suit.
The man in the suit looked up at him.
"No mercy, no hesitation. No matter what he looks like when you find him, kill him immediately," the bulky figure ordered.
"I am an Assassin," the man in the suit declared.
"I am the executioner," the bulky man said.
The man in the suit shrugged, "Okay, I agree, no autographs, just get to work."
The bulky man sat down slowly, continuing to play with his military saber.
At this moment, the grey mechanism of Sai Bo standing at the wall began to activate again. He spread his palm open, sweeping across his right arm with blue scanning lights, and a part resembling a hand cannon gradually appeared on his right arm.
"3D printing complete," a crisp female voice emanated from inside Sai Bo.
"I had it set to silent notifications." Sai Bo said.
"I turned it on of my own accord, who can blame me for liking to talk?" the female voice chuckled.
The man in the suit stepped forward, and by now, everyone else in the room had drawn close.
Some sections of Sai Bo’s right forearm unfolded, and the head of the hand cannon split apart, with a three-pronged structure starting to spin, and an orange star core the size of a coin emitted a dim light in the center.
"I thought that thing would be much bigger," the man in the suit said.
"Big is not always better, are you ready?" Sai Bo said.
The man in the suit looked at the people around him.
"Two chances, don’t be scared," a voluptuous, athletic Latina woman gave him a thumbs up.
"It’s best to get it done in one, remember, jump to before he became Divine Power Tianyang!" Sai Bo said.
After speaking, a series of formulas appeared before him, the tip of the hand cannon spinning rapidly as he aimed at the man in the suit.
The Knight’s cloak fluttered in an invisible wind, and the Sword Cultivator stood still, staring intently at Sai Bo.
The man in the suit glanced at the bulky man, who nodded in return.
He stretched out his right hand and muttered a number to himself.
The year 2119!
Then, he snapped his fingers.
A radiation of formulas shot out from Sai Bo towards him, altering the world’s rules on his body, and the thunder that traversed the nine realms took him rushing towards the real world.
Everyone watched as the man in the suit disappeared before their eyes.
"Can things really be that simple?" the Sword Cultivator inquired.
"It’s just killing someone, Chen Ke can do it," the Knight said.
In the Sethiyan Federation, the year was 2119, late at night, with thunder rumbling through the sky.
Chen Ke suddenly appeared on a street.
He was wrapped in a white light membrane, a paradox protection shell, that gave him a brief moment when he appeared when no one could perceive him—allowing him time to run to a secluded place and reappear in a less abrupt manner.
Chen Ke glanced at the corner of his eye; only 12 hours left of his lifespan.
...
This expenditure was way beyond his expectation; just two shots with the Spiritual Crystal Gun would deplete his lifetime...
He ran into an alley, pulling out a Glock pistol smeared with blood on the muzzle and ejection port—it seemed that he could only rely on this now, but it should be enough...
Chen Ke emerged from the alley, feeling the streets here were no different from those in the United Federation. As he looked around, he spotted the President Mansion and wondered, what would they call it in this world?
