I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 42 - 41: Return
Chapter 42: Chapter 41: Return
Li Fei put on her shoes and packed a few things into a small backpack before she and Wei Tianyang exited the villa through a side door.
Seeing the shattered corpse on the ground, even the battle-hardened Li Fei could not help but frown in disgust.
"Let’s drive out, there shouldn’t be any blood on the car," Wei Tianyang said as he pulled open the car door and checked the seats.
Li Fei found the bodies of two staff members, and without a word, she tore off their overalls.
"Put this on, it might buy us some time at the gate," she said as she put on the garment herself before handing the other one to Wei Tianyang.
The back of the jacket was heavily stained with blood, having soaked in it when the body fell, but fortunately, it was night, and they would be sitting in the car, which should make it less noticeable.
After Li Fei had dressed, she picked up a rifle, checked it, and then tossed it into the driver’s seat.
She suddenly remembered something and asked Wei Tianyang, "When you were killing outside earlier, you made very little noise. What weapon did you use?"
"My hands," Wei Tianyang replied.
Li Fei shook her head with a smile, "If you can’t handle the gate, I’ll shoot, but then everyone on the mountain will start chasing us."
Wei Tianyang nodded.
"Whether you can make it out alive by then, it depends on fate," Li Fei said.
"What about you?" asked Wei Tianyang, puzzled.
"My life is tied to politics, they can’t afford to let me die. But you are different, even if you’re not killed on the spot, you’ll be captured and severely punished. I assure you, they have many ways to deal with people. I doubt your slight frame could survive a night," replied Li Fei.
He didn’t respond but got into the passenger seat and slammed the door shut.
The car started and followed a path in front of the villa to the gate.
Wei Tianyang glanced at the rear-view mirror, spotting a squad of patrolling soldiers heading towards the back door of the villa, making him tense up.
There were only two men at the gate, one sitting inside the booth and the other approaching the passenger’s side, smoking a cigarette.
Li Fei reached for the grip of the 81-type rifle as Wei Tianyang rolled down the window.
"Leaving? You’re a bit late today..." the soldier said with a smile, but his expression froze when he saw Wei Tianyang.
Kacha.
The Bone Knife plunged into his eye socket, exited through his skull, and accurately crossed over to stab into the forehead of the other soldier through the booth window.
He calculated the angle perfectly to kill two with one strike.
Retrieving the Bone Knife, he wiped the warm filth from his hand on the seat, glanced at Li Fei, and signaled her to drive quickly.
"You’re pretty skilled at killing...who taught you?" Li Fei said, somewhat surprised.
"I was born with it," he replied.
The van descended the mountain smoothly.
It was deep into the night, and they drove several kilometers away from He Mountain, leaving it far behind as a dark bulge on the horizon.
Only then did the sound of alarms come from the direction of He Mountain.
But by then it was too late, the two had changed out of their work clothes and abandoned the car on the outskirts of Kongse City before walking away.
As they parted, Li Fei fished a beret out of her backpack, put it on, and said, "By the way, young man, what do I call you?"
"Call me Ishmael," Wei Tianyang replied.
"That’s an odd name. Alright, I’ll remember that. If fate allows, we’ll meet again, perhaps on television next time," Li Fei said with a laugh.
"Do what you must, otherwise, I can’t answer for it," he replied.
Li Fei was about to leave, turned around, but then paused and looked back, "Oh, one more thing."
Wei Tianyang waited.
"When you see them again, tell them, ’The little girl has grown up,’" Li Fei said.
Wei Tianyang nodded, and she turned around satisfyingly and left.
The two went their separate ways.
Kongse City had entered a curfew state due to the street fires during the day.
Wei Tianyang avoided the patrol teams as he walked in the direction of Pei Guode Hotel, relying on his memory.
He only remembered that the hotel was on the other side of the downtown area, surrounded by a large artificial forest...
At that moment, a blue sedan pulled up beside him.
Yaha’s car?!
The window rolled down, and Kacha poked his head out.
"Get in!"
He opened the car door, sat down, and the car headed toward the hotel.
"Where have you been? We were all looking for you! Yaha even wanted to use his connections to retrieve someone from He Mountain."
Kacha sat in the passenger seat, turned sideways towards the backseat, his tone both surprised and anxious. The driver next to him remained silent.
Wei Tianyang said, "I went out to hide for a while and only dared to come back at night. By the way, how’s Starbucks? She was severely injured."
"Yaha transferred her wound. But he is very angry," Kacha said.
"Who is angry?"
"Yaha."
"I don’t think he’s that angry."
"You haven’t seen him lose his temper. He was dead worried after he found out you and Starbucks were separated."
Wei Tianyang shook his head; he wasn’t that easy to die now, as long as he didn’t act recklessly.
They chatted idly for a while, discussing the curfew.
Kacha told him that there had been some conflicts between the peacekeeping troops and conservative soldiers, as the latter wanted to search the refugee camp.
Obviously, the United Council wouldn’t indulge these militia.
As they talked, the car drove into the forest, and the dark hotel was intermittently visible among the trees.
It was not until the car stopped in front of the cracked, dry fountain that Wei Tianyang thought to ask why Yaha’s car could move unobstructed during the curfew in Kongse.
Kacha just smiled without speaking, and led him into the hotel entrance.
Candles burned on the chandelier frame, bathing the lobby in an orange glow.
When they entered, Du Yan and Li Bin, along with a large group of guerrilla fighters’ specters, were gathered in the first-floor lobby.
Yaha, with his back to the door, leaned on the reception counter, scrolling through his phone, dressed in a white coat, his long white hair cascading over his shoulders. From the back, he looked entirely like a woman.
Upon hearing the door open, he immediately turned around, and seeing Wei Tianyang and Kacha entering together, the gloom and resentment on his face quickly swept away.
"Ishmael!"
Yaha ran forward, hugged Wei Tianyang, and buried his face in his shoulder.
This gesture was overly affectionate, making him somewhat uncomfortable.
"I thought you all would be waiting for me in the lobby," Wei Tianyang joked.
"Everyone else is busy, it’s enough that I care about you," Yaha said.
He smiled, his eyes slightly tearful, like a woman who had almost lost a lover.
Wei Tianyang stepped back slightly, struggling out of Yaha’s embrace.
At that moment, Du Yan, standing behind Yaha, asked with a smile, "Is everything settled?"
Wei Tianyang answered, "Everything is settled."
"It wasn’t a difficult task; I just didn’t expect them to have the gall to turn on each other," Yaha said.
"Did she say anything?" Du Yan asked again.
Wei Tianyang smiled and said, "I’ve grown up."
