Leng Kai quickly approached the main door and peeked through the crack.

He held the gun at his waist and slowly pried the door open, checking for threats on either side before observing down the corridor.

In the corridor to the left of the first-floor staircase, he saw more than a dozen bodies of county police and special forces troops.

Blood had soaked the red carpet black, and there were bloodstains on the walls, but no bullet holes. It was unclear what had killed them.

He slipped in, found a wall to use as cover, and looked down at the bodies at his feet. They had holes in them; they had been shot, but no casings were found at the scene.

Dizzy, Leng Kai soon passed out after getting into the car and woke up at 9 am in the council’s hospital.
