I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 388 - 386: Meeting
Chapter 388: Chapter 386: Meeting
7:12 AM.
A top-secret intelligence report was swiftly delivered to Old Bideng’s office desk.
After Steijie died, Congress had called an emergency meeting, and the Deputy Ruler had resigned due to health issues. With his prestige and experience within the party and wielding Lilith—a weapon capable of countering Wei Tianyang—Old Bideng was put forth by various factions as the temporary ruler.
Transition to the official role was merely a matter of time.
He wasn’t too fond of the White House, nor did he like the hustle and bustle of Georgetown. Compared to the noisy national capital, Old Bideng preferred his small villa back home, so even after becoming the temporary ruler, he continued to work from his own house.
At the age of 77, he had finally reached the position he dreamt of.
"Don’t panic."
He spoke while picking up the file on the desk, pulling out a stack of reports, and putting on his reading glasses to examine them.
Last night in New Jide State, two police officers had died. When the National Guard arrived, they engaged in a fierce battle with a group of monsters, leaving no survivors among the civilians in four apartment buildings—one guard was killed and twelve were injured.
He put on AR glasses and accessed the combat videos from the incident.
After just 12 seconds, he took them off and tossed the documents onto the desk.
"How many people know about these things?" Old Bideng asked.
"The information is temporarily sealed. Do we need to contact the Federation Army system?" the Director of Homeland Security inquired.
"No, there is no need to contact them." Old Bideng shook his head and sat back behind his desk.
Several officials stood at the door in silence.
"This matter is not very important. Have them clean up the scene thoroughly," Old Bideng instructed.
"Mr. Ruler, I would like to repeat, 127 civilians died in this incident..." the Director of Homeland Security said.
"Don’t make me repeat myself, Mr. Director." Old Bideng turned his chair toward the window.
"Go now, do as the Ruler has instructed," Old Qiao said.
The Director of Homeland Security nodded and left the room.
After the officials had gradually left, Old Qiao looked at Bideng, who remained silent.
At that moment, Lilith appeared in a corner of the room, and the rich scent of coffee accompanied her, making the atmosphere in the room turn strange.
Lilith sat on a small stool, holding a little porcelain cup, her gaze at the two men unfathomable.
"The incident last night—it involved you, didn’t it?" Old Qiao asked.
"It is part of our collaborative relationship. And last night, your people caused me losses," Lilith responded.
"I sincerely apologize to you," Bideng stood up at this time and slightly bowed to Lilith.
"Those people could have ascended, but due to your intervention, they died there. What a waste," Lilith shook her head.
"We will compensate for your loss," Old Qiao quickly added.
"It’s not just my loss, but yours too. Eventually, you would ascend under my leadership, escaping this aging, diseased, and doomed mortal shell. Last night those people could have been among the first electorates to demonstrate the glory of becoming immortal. Now, we have to start all over again," Lilith sighed.
"Please do not speak like that... Great Lilith, we can make up for it, and we won’t waste time..." Bideng said.
He was almost 80 years old, and he didn’t know if he would simply never wake up from sleep one day.
When people reach the age of 60, they count their days, and dying of old age is humanity’s greatest flaw.
"Ascending is a lengthy process," Lilith smiled.
"I will deploy the full force of the nation to assist you in accomplishing this task. However, it would be better if we could first eliminate our biggest concern," Bideng said.
"Wei Tianyang is not a problem. If I could first elevate everyone in this nation, perhaps you yourselves could deal with Wei Tianyang," Lilith said.
"His whereabouts are erratic and his actions are entirely based on his own whims. If we don’t deal with him first, we worry that he will eventually come to destroy our great endeavor," Old Qiao added.
Bideng nodded quickly and said, "On this planet, the strongest political entity are the Yixu people. Without Wei Tianyang, we can utilize many political tools, employ military power, and even cultural invasion to gradually dissolve the will and strength of other nations. On this planet, besides the Yixu people, the others can only be called animals."
Old Qiao nodded in agreement.
"We have a grand plan, and you are our final piece. You complete us! You will be our master, and we will become the masters of the sheep. The only obstacle is Wei Tianyang; he stole your power and should not be allowed to live too long," Old Bideng said.
Lilith sighed and set down the small porcelain cup.
"I really like your coffee. I don’t know why this bitter liquid has a power that keeps me alert and enhances my sensitivity to everything around me," Lilith changed the subject.
Old Qiao quickly responded, "Coffee has had a stimulating effect since ancient times."
"I will need more coffee beans," Lilith said with a smile.
"We will specifically cultivate a coffee plantation for you to supply the coffee beans," Old Qiao said.
"Yes, absolutely, there is no problem at all," Bideng quickly added.
"Then...let it be so," Lilith said with a smile.
Having said that, she then vanished into objective reality and left the place.
Bideng, somewhat impatient, picked up the phone and summoned his secretary.
"Go to Baria, find the best coffee plantation, and buy it. Do it immediately," Bideng instructed.
"Yes, Mr. Governor," the secretary bowed and then retreated.
"I feel Lilith is avoiding Wei Tianyang," Old Qiao whispered at this moment.
Hearing this, Bideng shook his head and said solemnly, "I won’t make such an assumption. I think she has other plans. I need to look at the autopsy report. I hope that the group of people in New Jide State last night really did elevate..."
In a blink, Lilith had traversed half the globe, transforming into a voluptuous, beautiful woman with deep tan skin, clad in a brownish-red crop top and light beige long skirt, landing in Heiside State.
At this moment, it was deep night.
She wandered the streets, immediately attracting many malevolent gazes.
Five black men surrounded her, teasing her with their words.
She compliantly let them lead her into an alley.
When the sun rose, Lilith walked out of the alley, followed by five black men with red flickering lights in their eyes. They treated her with utmost respect, like loyal guards to a queen.
She saw a black goat carrying a white-haired woman wandering in front of a coffee shop. Lilith smiled and walked toward them.
Baphomet noticed her.
It hurried into the coffee shop where Wei Tianyang was settling the bill.
"He has come!" Baphomet said.
"Who?" Although Wei Tianyang asked this, he felt an unprecedented pressure.
"The one who shattered me!" Baphomet said.
As he turned around, he saw a beautiful dark-haired woman standing behind him, her pupils as deep scarlet as his own.
"Let’s have a drink together; I bet you can still handle it," Lilith said with a smile.
