I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 365 - 363 A Type of People

Chapter 365: Chapter 363 A Type of People

Panic surged through Ling’s heart as she realized that the Heavenly Emperor was already dead, the restrictions lifted, allowing Zhao Ling, who had transformed into a black dragon, to break free.

Her mind raced with fear, utterly panicked. If she were captured by Zhao Ling, her cruel methods were notoriously well-known. Li Ruyun, who had once followed her closely, had suffered a truly miserable fate.

Ling hurriedly turned to flee. With her face, penetrating the lower-level security forces should be no problem.

She shouted, "Someone, help!! Assassin!!" and dashed out of the reception room, running down the corridor.

By then, the black dragon had already alerted the entire security force of Lingxiao Palace. She vaulted over the railing, plunging into the glass dome garden’s pool, wading through the water toward the stairs on the opposite side.

The cool pool water barely covered her ankles. Throwing decorum to the wind, she simply kicked off her high heels and fled barefoot through the water.

Just when a long shadow passed over the water’s surface, a giant dragon descended from the sky, its mouth clutching two corpses.

Upon landing, the black dragon dissipated into a vast fog of darkness. Shortly after, the mist contracted and solidified, transforming into a naked woman.

Zhao Ling stood before Ling, only 20 steps away. In each hand, she held half a corpse; a spine segment jutting from the crimson flesh, each head bitten off halfway, the sinews and flesh barely clinging to the white bones—these people had been dead for a while.

"Emperor... Emperor..." Ling murmured unconsciously.

Zhao Ling’s eyes flared with a green light, her expression fierce as she spat, "You whore, what right do you have to bear my face?"

Ling turned to run, but Zhao Ling cast aside the corpses. Her body emitted a green aura as she leapt into the air, delivering a heavy kick straight to Ling’s back!

The kick instantly broke Ling’s spine and shattered half her body.

The once beautiful creature was instantly reduced to a lump of mangled flesh wrapped in a blood-soaked garment.

Zhao Ling landed, the green patterns flowing across her robust body. She frowned and clutched her abdomen, dropping to one knee and vomiting a mouthful of black blood.

The traitors had pinned her down earlier, pounding on her abdomen—her liver was indeed smashed...

She couldn’t understand what had happened, but somehow, the Heavenly Emperor’s restrictions were abruptly lifted, and, enduring the agony, she transformed into a black dragon to break the siege.

But now, all her strength was spent, and warm blood flowed from the inside of her thigh; the pain in her abdomen reverberated and intertwined, making it impossible for her to stand any longer.

Suddenly, the air around her grew chill. She turned and saw a woman in a black coat and hat standing in the distant corridor.

The woman slightly lifted her head, ice-blue light flickering in her eyes.

She was from the Lingxian Sect...

Zhao Ling tried to rise, but the pain in her abdomen was unbearable. She lay in the shallow pool, gasping in pain, when the sight of four black hooves entered her field of vision.

Zhao Ling looked up to see Wei Tianyang’s pet goat standing before her.

"Uh..." She coughed up more black blood.

Lady Mo raised her hand, and the water beneath her feet suddenly froze. Then, over twenty ice spears as thick as small arms materialized, all aimed at Zhao Ling.

Zhao Ling grabbed the goat’s fur and managed to mount its back.

"Can you take me away...?" Zhao Ling asked softly.

As the ice spears flew towards her, in the next instant, the black goat vanished with Zhao Ling on its back into the pool, eluding the ice spears.

Lady Mo frowned but was helpless. She didn’t know the origins of the black goat; their attempt to assassinate Zhao Ling had utterly failed. Only Ling’s dismembered corpse was left in the pool.

Baphomet carried Zhao Ling through the surface of objective reality and returned to the red courtyard.

It shuddered, shaking Zhao Ling off its back onto the ground, then ran to the lakeside to drink.

Zhao Ling, clutching her abdomen, sat up with a haggard face. The distant attendants, seeing Zhao Ling in such a state, hurriedly dashed over.

Having experienced betrayal by Lingxiao Palace, she now found herself unable to trust anyone, yet she indeed needed treatment. She hurried back to Wei Tianyang’s room, took out a backup phone, and called Venerable Xu.

The assassination attempt that morning soon alerted the entire Fengrao City, and upon receiving the signal from Zhao Ling, Venerable Xu’s face hardened.

He knew that people within the court had long wished to take action but hadn’t expected it to be today.

Within less than two hours, Venerable Xu locked down all communications, then ordered the Qian War Zone to declare martial law in Fengrao City. He came to the Red Courtyard with several trusted aides and a battalion’s worth of troops.

Zhao Ling was strong and sturdy, but now she seemed like a candle in the wind. The military doctor provided her with emergency treatment, and she was advised to lie in bed to rest.

All the people in the courtyard were identified by the troops, and meanwhile, all the entrances and exits, big and small, were fortified with defensive lines.

"The hand of Lingxian Sect... Damn it... They seized the chance while Wei Tianyang was away... I saw... that woman in black clothes..." Zhao Ling struggled to speak as she lay on the bed.

Venerable Xu’s expression was just as grave as he replied, "Emperor, rest up. If she is still in Fengrao City, we will definitely catch her. Damn it... Why did they take action so suddenly?"

"I... I was so close to finding... the main gate of Lingxian Sect..." Zhao Ling said.

"I understand... Emperor, this is too risky. You were about to wipe out their stronghold, forcing them to react. Moreover, now that Wei Tianyang is out of reach, I just didn’t expect their infiltration of our ranks to have gone this deep..." Venerable Xu said.

"There must be a mole... It’s not just the Inner Guard; they also seized control over Lingxiao Palace’s energy and firewall..." Zhao Ling said.

Venerable Xu nodded, but at this moment, Zhao Ling suddenly grabbed his hand, her face showing a rare vulnerability.

"Xu... now, besides Wei Tianyang and you, I don’t know who else I can trust..." Zhao Ling said, her voice breaking into a cry.

"Don’t panic! Emperor! What kind of behavior is this? I’ve been with you for decades and have never seen you shed tears!" Venerable Xu said.

"To hell with it! If I... If I could be like Wei Tianyang... they wouldn’t have dared to act..." Zhao Ling said angrily.

"We can’t just ask for that kind of strength, but we have our methods. Emperor, first you need to heal. We’ll deal with internal problems internally, starting with Fengrao City," Venerable Xu said.

Zhao Ling nodded and lay down. She watched Venerable Xu leave.

At that moment, she saw Yaha standing at the door, his eyes not as innocent and foolish as before, but rather calm. Disturbingly calm.

"Yaha..." Zhao Ling tried calling out.

"You’ve felt it too, haven’t you?" Yaha suddenly said.

Her tone was completely different from usual, a composed and restrained voice that Zhao Ling had never heard before, as if coming from someone who had experienced much.

"Felt... what?" Zhao Ling asked.

"The pathetic weakness, the malicious betrayal," Yaha said.

"Who... are you?" Zhao Ling asked.

"I am... I am the one who was chewed up and then pieced back together... I am like you," Yaha said.

At this moment, Baphomet appeared in the room, nonchalantly using its horn to open the refrigerator and hooking out a bottle of fruit tea.

"Big Black!!!" Yaha suddenly reverted to her previous demeanor, rushed over to Baphomet, and leapt onto its back.

With the bottle of fruit tea clamped in its mouth, Baphomet trotted away carrying Yaha out of the room, leaving Zhao Ling alone on the bed, her mind in turmoil.
