I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 241 - 239 Spine

Chapter 241: Chapter 239 Spine

"I get it," Wei Tianyang said. "The things she creates can’t last long or be very large if they’re to have practical use, right?"

"But some things don’t need to be large... like a gun, or a nuclear bomb..." Chiharu replied.

"I knew you guys would definitely have her do this. In other words, she’s been in your hands the whole time, undergoing all sorts of experiments, right?" Wei Tianyang said.

Chiharu nodded.

"So it’s nothing to you that Fujiwara Makoto is experimented on in your hands, but you feel sympathy when Xi suffers in the containment station?" Wei Tianyang said.

"I feel for Makoto too... But Hasegawa Pharmaceutical couldn’t defy the cabinet’s demands... I also tried to minimize her pain as much as possible," Chiharu argued.

"Everyone makes excuses for themselves, I’m not here to blame you. I’m only concerned with what happened here. You said she could control other people, so are you saying a ’language virus’ is real?" Wei Tianyang said.

"It’s not actually a virus, but a form of thought hypnosis. A blocking device is all that’s needed to prevent it. But it takes a great toll on her energy," Chiharu said.

Wei Tianyang touched his chin, no wonder all these people from Churi Country were wearing masks. The headset he had on initially had the same function.

But he had taken off his headset halfway through, so why hadn’t he been hypnotized?

"What are you Churi Country pharmaceutical companies doing in Libitelli?" Wei Tianyang asked again.

"What I’m about to tell you could bring you mortal danger," Chiharu said seriously.

"Tell me, what’s really going on?"

"This involves two organizations larger than any state’s power, one called ’Human Dawn’ and the other ’Lingxian Sect.’ Once they learned about Fujiwara Makoto, they both sent people to Richu Country, trying to take Makoto away," Chiharu explained.

Those two again? Wei Tianyang knew of these organizations.

Spencer had told Wei Tianyang that Human Dawn was a foundation dedicated to encouraging the exploration of the next step in human evolution, and Zhao Ling had shared with him that Lingxian Sect was a secretive high-tech organization specializing in collecting various superpowers.

Fujiwara Makoto’s abilities were indeed formidable. It was no wonder that both organizations were simultaneously trying to doorstep her. Even he might not receive such attention.

"Both organizations are asking states for a person?" Wei Tianyang said.

"They don’t regard any country. Let’s not speak of Churi Country... even Yin Country and the Sethiyan Federation are seen as entities they can exploit and threaten," Chiharu said.

"Your country didn’t compromise, did they? No matter what, Fujiwara Makoto is still a person from Churi Country," Wei Tianyang said.

"The cabinet... compromised," Chiharu said, looking down.

"Doesn’t your country have the Trinity? No matter how powerful those organizations are, they can’t possibly oppose an entire modernized nation, can they?" Wei Tianyang said.

"Lingxian Sect holds almost all the superpowers in the world. They sent 20 Trinity-level superpower users just to negotiate... and Human Dawn has huge political backing. With a bit of manipulation, Churi Country’s economy would suffer for 20 years, the raw materials for the production of the neutralizer would be embargoed... Churi Country couldn’t endure it..." Chiharu said, sounding resigned.

Wei Tianyang shook his head and said, "So in the end, you came here to deliver a package?"

"That was the original plan... I was designated by the consortium to handle this matter, but I’ve been trying to find an opportunity to let her go," Chiharu said.

"But from the way she spoke, she seemed eager to kill you," Wei Tianyang glanced at Chiharu’s abdomen wound.

With a sigh, Chiharu said, "The Libitelli military kept a tight watch. Makoto felt I betrayed her. Upon our arrival here, she took the opportunity to damage the containment pod and escaped."

"I think I understand now," Wei Tianyang nodded.

The full scope of the incident now had a new version, assuming Chiharu wasn’t lying.

A little girl naturally possessing superpowers appeared in Churi Country, Fujiwara Makoto.

Hasegawa Pharmaceutical was responsible for testing her abilities, and as the scion of the conglomerate, chairman’s eldest daughter, and lead scientist, Chiharu personally managed the project.

Lingxian Sect and Human Dawn both set their sights on Fujiwara Makoto, forcing the Churi Country cabinet to hand her over. Under pressure, the cabinet caved in.

The handover location was chosen to be in Libitelli, which didn’t quite make sense. Perhaps, this involved a confrontation between Lingxian Sect and Human Dawn.

In other words, Libitelli might be the main base of Human Dawn’s faction, or at the very least, a member state relationship.

Then, Fujiwara Makoto broke free of her confines here and began her revenge...

But something didn’t add up later.

The Fogen Government dispatched the military and sent a Trinity capable of reading memories to suppress the situation, yet Chiharu claimed that Zoe came to kill her...

Wei Tianyang looked at the ceiling, once again sinking into bewilderment.

It felt like everyone was lying, mixing truths with falsehoods in their deception, making it extremely difficult to discern.

Fujiwara Makoto had the power of Illusion Creation. The sanatorium, the mutated corpses might all have been fabrications, complicating the analysis even more.

He pulled out his phone, wanting to read Zhao Ling’s text messages, trying to find inconsistencies in Fujiwara Makoto’s story, but he suddenly realized the message list was empty...

He scrolled to the call log to check, and except for the call from Spencer that got through, Zhao Ling’s calls had not connected at all...

"Damn... I’ve been played," Wei Tianyang muttered under his breath.

Turns out, he had been hypnotized back at the hospital. His conversation with Zhao Ling was all faked.

But at this moment, something clicked for Wei Tianyang, "No... last night she took me to the sanatorium, and along the way, she hinted a lot about me. She should have been able to see my short-term memories too. Miss Chiharu, are you really sure Zoe is dead?" Wei Tianyang asked.

Something suddenly dawned on Chiharu, and her expression turned frantic as she said, "Right! Where’s my briefcase?!"

Wei Tianyang bent down, pulled the briefcase from under the bed, and tossed it onto the mattress.

Chiharu immediately pulled the briefcase to her chest to check the locks.

"Don’t worry, I haven’t opened it," Wei Tianyang said.

"Zoe is indeed dead... you’ll understand when you see this," Chiharu said.

Saying this, she struggled to sit up, placing the briefcase flat on the bed. She pressed a fingerprint sensor on the briefcase that prompted an iris recognition camera to pop out. Chiharu scanned her iris and with a click, the briefcase unlatched.

Wei Tianyang watched her open the briefcase and was immediately hit with a foul smell that made him wrinkle his nose.

"Damn, that stinks... what is it?" Wei Tianyang said.

Chiharu turned the briefcase around for him to see. Inside laid a section of blackened spine, wrapped in a special transparent seal within a thick liquid.

"This is Zoe’s spine... I personally extracted it," Chiharu said.
