I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 240 - 238 Witch

Chapter 240: Chapter 238 Witch

Wei Tianyang brought Hasegawa Chiharu to a cheap apartment building.

It stood at a crossroads, with entrances and exits both front and rear, grimy inside, the stair corners even stained with urine.

There weren’t many occupants in this building, and as Wei Tianyang carried Chiharu in, several Black men seemed to harbor sinister intentions. However, upon seeing the automatic rifle on him, they dared not make a move.

On the fifth floor, he found an unoccupied room, broke the door lock, and settled in.

The room was bare, with nothing but a wooden bed plank left. He placed Chiharu on the bed and made a pillow out of his own bundled-up coat for her head.

Wei Tianyang hadn’t brought much in the way of supplies on this mission, for he didn’t expect things to be difficult and hadn’t planned on staying here for so long.

Checking his resources, he found no more hemostatic gauze, only half a can of spray left, and just two compressed biscuits, but there were still plenty of bullets for the automatic rifle.

Besides loose bullets, the backpack contained a drone, which was currently useless. So, Wei Tianyang emptied it and went out with the empty bag.

Wei Tianyang searched along the streets for a while. The supermarkets and shops were open but empty of goods.

Coincidentally, at noon three airdrop boxes floated down to the street near the apartment. People rushed towards them, and he had intended to use "Illusion Creation" to gain an advantage. But then he remembered that people in this area would appear simultaneously in both worlds, making it impossible.

So, he ran with the crowd, and upon reaching the airdrop boxes, a few people who were maintaining order started asking for everyone to queue and take only what they needed. Wei Tianyang used his ICR rifle to gain priority in line, securing four cans, two packs of biscuits, three bottles of mineral water, and a medical case.

Back at the apartment, Hasegawa Chiharu’s eyes were closed, her expression one of pain as her body twisted restlessly. The hemostatic cloth on her waist and abdomen was soaked red with blood and had dried into a crust.

Wei Tianyang approached the window, opened the medical case, and prepared tweezers and medical alcohol to treat her wounds. Chiharu woke up, suddenly grabbing his wrist.

"Who sent you..." she asked weakly but with determination, speaking in Japanese.

"United Council," Wei Tianyang said.

"What are you going to do?" Chiharu asked anxiously.

"I’m going to treat your wounds and then, ask a few questions," Wei Tianyang replied, looking at her.

Chiharu was doubtful, but after staring at Wei Tianyang for a few seconds, she let go of his wrist.

Wei Tianyang undid a few buttons on Chiharu’s blouse, exposing her wounds, and even a little of her lower breast.

She turned her head away in embarrassment, gripping the edge of the wooden bed plank with her hands.

Wei Tianyang tore off the dried-up hemostatic cloth with tweezers.

"Hisss..."

Chiharu drew in a breath of pain.

The two long cuts on her abdomen had scabbed over. As Wei Tianyang pulled off the cloth, some of the scabs came away, revealing pale flesh and the blood began to seep out again, slowly.

Before, he had crudely stitched the wounds with a military quick-sewing device. This left the wounds looking very rough; the knife hadn’t gone in too deep but was not superficial. From the outside, it seemed that the organs were not damaged.

Chiharu had a strong build with noticeable abdominal muscles. While not as fit as Zhao Ling, she was certainly better than many women who didn’t manage their figures.

Wei Tianyang disinfected the wounds with medical alcohol, applied military medical spray, and ointment provided in the medical case, then, covered them with a gauze bandage.

Reluctantly cooperating, Chiharu propped herself up, lifted her blouse, and exposed her waist and abdomen, with her hands holding up beneath her breasts to facilitate Wei Tianyang wrapping a layer of bandage around her upper abdomen, in a much more professional manner than before.

After the bandaging was done, Chiharu still didn’t let her guard down around Wei Tianyang. She leaned against the headboard, adjusted her clothes, and looked at him with a hostile gaze.

"Don’t look at me like that," Wei Tianyang said.

He packed up the medical equipment and handed a bottle of mineral water to Chiharu.

"You... killed Xi... you beast..." Chiharu said through gritted teeth.

"You can hate me, I don’t mind. I understand that feeling," Wei Tianyang said.

He sat at the foot of the bed, placing the mineral water beside Chiharu’s hand.

"You’ll never understand, you could never possibly understand what Xi went through," Chiharu said.

"She wasn’t from the Superpower Special Department, was she? At best, her ability was a half-finished product," Wei Tianyang said.

"She volunteered to become a Medicine Person to raise medical funds for her younger brother, Xiao Jing... almost died in the containment facility, such a good person... You have no idea, the superpowers you use, they were gained through the lives of those Medicine People! I watched her suffer, and I brought her out from that facility, yet you killed her so carelessly..." Chiharu raged.

Wei Tianyang was silent for a while, realizing that this Xi, like himself, had also come out of a containment facility.

"You know what it means to die without regrets?" Wei Tianyang asked.

Chiharu looked at her and didn’t speak.

"I faced her in battle, neither of us would back down, she attacked me with the resolve to protect you, ready to face the consequences. Being a Medicine Person is a dead-end path, by pulling her out, you essentially gave her a second life. The rest of her life was for that moment," Wei Tianyang said.

"Xi..." Chiharu lowered her head and began to sob.

"My name is Wei Tianyang, have you heard it before?" Wei Tianyang asked.

Hasegawa Chiharu shook her head.

"Well, let me introduce myself. I’m sent by the United Council to investigate the disease spread through language in this city. That Zoe, used her own superpower to possess a retired veteran to deceive me into rescuing you... If it wasn’t for this mess, I wouldn’t have been hostile to your people."

Chiharu didn’t speak but still seemed somewhat incredulous.

"You said Zoe is dead, what exactly happened? What is P13?" Wei Tianyang asked again.

"Zoe... was killed by P13," Chiharu spoke solemnly.

"Zoe was a triad, P13 is that powerful? Based on the records I’ve seen... forget it, maybe all the records I’ve seen are fake," Wei Tianyang shook his head.

He was now unsure who to trust.

"Zoe could read other people’s memories. She was originally sent to kill me... but after seeing my memories, she chose to help."

"That actually aligns with what I’ve heard. What is this P13 you’re talking about?" Wei Tianyang asked.

"P13... is directly related to the language virus you’re investigating. If you don’t even know about P13, it seems you’re not here to kill me..." Hasegawa Chiharu said.

"I’m just a dumbass who’s been deceived twice..." Wei Tianyang mocked himself, "Tell me about P13."

"P13 is a 15-year-old girl named Fujiwara Makoto. She is entirely different from the Superpower Special Department, naturally possessing extremely strong superpowers. She can interfere with other people’s thoughts and even create anything out of thin air, including human beings, but doing so exhausts her..." Chiharu said.

Wei Tianyang frowned, to create anything? Isn’t that like a god?

"Can she create food? If her powers were used rightly, she’d be a savior," Wei Tianyang said.

"Yes, but whatever she creates eventually vanishes, the food and water she creates cannot sate hunger and are tasteless," Chiharu shook her head.

"What about... factories? Manufacturing tools and such, that could save a lot of costs," Wei Tianyang said again.

"We’ve thought of what you’re suggesting and have tried it. Her ability is strong, but also heavily limited. To maintain her creations on a large scale for a long time, she herself has to remain stationary and enter a state of deep sleep," Chiharu said.

"Hm... so she becomes like a battery," Wei Tianyang said.

"In such a state, she can’t control her creations, she can only passively repair them continuously, it’s like they’re dead. We tried having her create a car and maintain it through her sleep, but the car simply couldn’t be driven. That’s why we call her ability ’Illusion Creation,’ and she is the ’Witch Project’ of Hasegawa," Chiharu explained.
