Chapter 175 - 173 Grev

Chapter 175: Chapter 173 Grev

Wei Tianyang obtained the information he wanted and left the border city of Kanan, once again merging into objective reality, transformed into a moth, and flew for a long time in the northwest direction.

He landed on a highland by the sea, and exited objective reality, pulling out his phone to check the map of Azaha.

The place was a vast stretch of coastal highland, truly no small area. According to the map, the nearest town to Wei Tianyang was the port city of Feinan in Azaha.

Those deceased had not revealed a more detailed location. If that half-formed troop called "Beauty and the Beast" had really been pulled over to receive nuclear bombs, it was unlikely they would hide the nukes in the city area.

He didn’t want to search aimlessly like a headless fly; it was time to call for reconnaissance support.

Wei Tianyang dialed an encrypted frequency and contacted Shepherd, the commander of this mission.

"Owl calling the Nest, can you hear me clearly?" he tilted his head, wedging the phone between his shoulder and ear, freeing both hands to search his backpack for compressed biscuits.

"Loud and clear, I hope you bring good news," Shepherd replied.

"The nuclear bomb is very likely in the vicinity of Feinan in Azaha," Wei Tianyang said.

"Consider it good news, at least we’ve narrowed the search area," Shepherd responded.

"Give me a Heavenly Eye," Wei Tianyang tore open the compressed biscuit package.

"What are the search target’s characteristics?" Shepherd asked while turning his head to look at the communications officer.

"I have limited information. Help me search around the Feinan city area, and the coastal region in the northwest of Azaha, for any large vehicle convoys with suspicious movements, including container trucks, trucks, and the like; also check for any camps or factories in remote areas," Wei Tianyang said.

"Alright, hold on," Shepherd replied.

He turned around and said to the communications officer, "Call Shadow."

"Yes, sir. I have initiated a call request through the military encrypted channel... It’s connected, I’ll transfer you now," the communications officer said.

Some static came through the audio, but soon cleared up. A somewhat sharp, yet firm male voice came through:

"Shepherd."

"Grev, get the drones in the air, destination around Feinan, Azaha," Shepherd instructed.

"Understood, what are we looking for?" Grev asked.

"Any suspicious large convoys, including civilian and military vehicles. Also, search thoroughly outside the city for any suspicious building complexes or encampments, and report back whatever you find," Shepherd directed.

"Understood, ending the call," Grev said.

Shepherd looked at the giant screen in the command room, the map of Azaha displayed on it. At the same time, Grev, the commander and CEO of Shadow Company, situated in a temporary command post at an airport on the border of Alkid, near Yixu, also studied the same map.

Dressed in desert camo, with short brown hair, and a faint scar on his cheek, the thirty-seven or thirty-eight-year-old Grev hung up the satellite phone and turned to the drone operator and some support staff behind him.

"Alright, lads, listen up. We’re sending the Swan to the northwestern part of Azaha, around Feinan. We’re looking for any suspicious large convoys and buildings in remote areas. This is a nighttime operation; we need long-distance flight and close observation. Fly carefully; I don’t want our drones crashing on Azaha territory, got it?" Grev said.

"Understood, sir. The Swan is ready to take off."

"Good."

Outside the tent, a large grey drone slowly slid out from the hangar of the abandoned airport, racing along the sandy runway before disappearing into the endless night sky.

The drone crossed over the narrow border of Yixu, using stealth technology to avoid the national defense force’s aerial radar, and successfully entered the airspace of Azaha. The port city of Feinan, a cluster of lights in the central bay, was now displayed on the drone operator’s screen.

"47 minutes, not too slow; how much longer for the journey?" Grev asked.

"2 hours," the technician replied.

"We only have 1 hour. Use the high-powered surveillance camera, adjust the night vision intensity; I don’t want to miss any suspicious targets."

"Operator: We have entered Feinan’s airspace, sir."

On the greenish screen, the small port city had already fallen asleep. After Yixu blocked the sea route, Azaha could only smuggle in weapons, ammunition, and essential goods through an underground network, but no one knew where their money came from.

"Begin surveillance mission."

(Operation guide: Use W, S to zoom in and out of the lens, A, D to switch between night vision and thermal imaging, move the camera with the mouse, mark suspicious targets with the mouse left click.)

The drone flew at an altitude of a kilometer, with Grev scrutinizing the screen closely.

"The city is very quiet," the operator said.

"Take a look at the port," Grev said.

The camera moved slowly, and the port was void of any ships. After the blockade, it had become an abandoned site. The operator switched to thermal imaging, but no living people were detected.

"It’s been abandoned, there’s nothing useful in sight," the operator said.

"Search for any luminous targets in the city, I don’t believe that this city has been forsaken by Azaha’s military," Grev said.

The drone adjusted its angle and slowly veered to the left, shifting the camera towards the southern part of the city.

Under the night vision camera, there was a relatively large light source in the southwest of the city.

"What’s that?" Grev asked.

"It seems to be a factory, sir," the operator responded.

"Lower the altitude, turn off the night vision," Grev commanded.

"That could risk exposure," the operator reminded.

"Lower the altitude," Grev insisted.

The drone dived down, its altitude dropping from a kilometer to about seven or eight hundred meters in an instant. With the night vision off, the factory, the only lit building in the city, was no longer glaring.

"There are people on the ground," the operator stated.

The camera zoomed in, outside the factory, about twenty people were slowly emerging, but the distance was too far for Grev to determine if they were armed through the screen.

At that moment, a convoy consisting of a container truck and six jeeps drove out from behind the factory yard, heading towards the outskirts of the city.

"Mark the factory, follow that convoy," Grev ordered.

"Yes, sir," the operator replied.

The drone climbed again, silently trailing the convoy as it flew towards the outskirts of the city.

Meanwhile, a heat signature suddenly appeared on the screen.

"There’s another target within the surveillance range, unsure if it’s a civilian," the operator said.

"Can you identify its information?" Grev asked.

"We need to descend 500 meters for that, what about the convoy?" the operator questioned.

"We have time," Grev noted.

The drone dived down again, and the heat source reflected a green signal.

"It’s friendly forces," the operator remarked.

"Contact them through the encrypted channel," Grev directed.

Wei Tianyang sat cross-legged, waiting for Shepherd’s reply when his phone suddenly received a call on a secure channel.

"Shadow calling Owl," a voice he didn’t recognize came through.

"Who are you?" Wei Tianyang asked.

"We are Heavenly Eye sent by the Nest to support you; I’m their commander," Grev said.

"You shouldn’t be calling me," Wei Tianyang stated.

"In the battlefield, we must be adaptable. We are tracking a suspicious convoy, but there’s also a suspicious factory in the city," Grev explained.

"Send me the coordinates," Wei Tianyang said.

"They’re sent. We’ll keep an eye on the convoy, and the factory is up to you. Don’t go in too deep. During our last observation, there were at least 20 living signals in the factory. Just have a look from a distance," Grev advised.

"I’m already inside the factory," Wei Tianyang revealed.

"Are you joking..." Grev wanted to laugh, but on the screen, the heat source had vanished.

"Follow the convoy, there’s a discovery in the factory. I’ll contact the Nest later, over and out," Wei Tianyang said and then ended the call.

He crouched on top of a container, looking towards the factory with brightly lit, tightly shut gates. At that moment, several armed soldiers were patrolling outside.

Whatever was inside must be of great importance.
