Chapter 128: Chapter 127 I Stab at You from the Heart of Hell
Moby Dick used Yaha as a human shield, pushing her forward as gunshots increasingly surrounded them.
Although he could not yet visually spot any soldiers, Moby Dick knew they were nearby.
He was sitting in a forward seat when the helicopter’s tail was hit. At that moment, a PMC observer was thrown out due to the high-speed rotation of the aircraft, and Elizabeth loosened her watch over him, giving him a chance to grab Yaha and jump out from the other side.
Now, Yaha seemed to have twisted her leg, walking sluggishly, her forehead bruised from the fall, half her face bloodied.
Moby Dick held onto her, planning to escape from the park and run towards the outskirts of the city.
He still had some underground contacts in West Soil, and if he lay low for a few days, he would be able to contact someone to fish him out.
He was also well aware that according to Red Pharmaceutical’s usual practice for ’abnormal-resignation employees,’ they had definitely frozen his Red stocks and pushed all the dirty work onto him.
Now, either he would die in Chicken Snake Country, ending it all, or if he went back, he would be arrested by police right after disembarking the plane, have all his accounts frozen, and after a series of show trials, be locked away in the darkest prison to be turned into Swiss cheese by the other inmates.
He was not that foolish... after the millions in Langkes in his pocket were frozen, Yaha was his ticket out of Chicken Snake Country. He just needed to contact some potential clients, and someone would buy Yaha to dismember her and thoroughly study the Black Medicine components in her spine...
"Move faster! You useless freak!" Moby Dick yelled, pushing her forward aggressively.
Still dazed from the crash, Yaha took advantage of the situation by stumbling and falling, grabbing a piece of broken rock with her heavily bandaged arms.
As Moby Dick pulled her up from behind by her shoulders, Yaha gritted her teeth and, with a burst of strength from her frail body, hurled the rock at Moby Dick’s face.
Nearby, an explosion sounded as a PMC’s rocket launcher hit an armored vehicle.
Moby Dick effortlessly caught Yaha’s arm, the rock missing him and falling to the ground.
He grabbed Yaha by the neck and slammed his knee into her soft belly.
"Dogs shouldn’t bite their masters, Yaha," he taunted.
He threw Yaha to the ground and viciously kicked her belly twice.
Yaha almost vomited her stomach out, curling up like a shrimp.
"You need to get one thing straight, you’re not Yaha, your hand is. And right now, the only thing of value in your entire body is that spine," Moby Dick said mockingly from above.
Then, he stomped hard on Yaha’s bandaged forearm.
Yaha screamed in pain, her yellow bandages turning red.
"Get up! You freak!" Moby Dick yelled, grabbing Yaha’s hair and lifting her from the ground.
Just then, a rocket whistled over their heads and struck the downed helicopter.
The explosion occurred 200 meters behind Moby Dick, the blast wave flattening everything standing like giant hands.
Both of them trembled as they lay on the ground, then felt a wave of heat engulf their backs.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the helicopter, Elizabeth, with the only two PMCs left, was awaiting evacuation.
She tried calling headquarters on an encrypted channel, but no one answered, and the signal was disrupted. Elizabeth couldn’t even establish an AR glasses visual sharing network with the PMC by her side.
"Damn it, we’ve been set up. The other PMCs are all watching us. Where did they come from?" Elizabeth cursed.
"We’ve already taken control of Wuliang Airport. Maybe the other mercenary companies infiltrated from the border! Nobody’s in charge anymore," the PMC soldier responded.
"They really don’t care about the United Council!" Elizabeth said.
She peeked out from behind a tree to observe Moby Dick and Yaha’s whereabouts but soon had to duck back as a hail of bullets came her way.
Atlas’s mercenaries had their communication networks cut off, and now they could only fight for themselves.
"What about the bait?!" PMC asked.
"Forget it! Retreat! Retreat to headquarters!" Elizabeth commanded.
The three of them backed away with their guns, several stray bullets whizzing past. A PMC by Elizabeth’s side fell to the ground with a thud.
Moby Dick crawled up from the ground and saw Yaha crawling awkwardly ahead under the torrential rain, looking like a limping white cat.
He lunged forward, grabbed Yaha by the hair, and shouted, "Don’t think you can escape me!"
At that moment, two small helicopters flew over the sky. This small Wuliang City was overwhelmed with military equipment and forces far exceeding its strategic value.
She headbutted Moby Dick in the nose, knocking him to the ground. Then, in a frenzy, she started tearing at the bandages on her arms, ripping them spiral by spiral from her wounds.
At the amputated site, the gruesome stitches were exposed outside, and the wounds had begun to come undone due to Moby Dick’s stomping. The rain diluted the blood, and Yaha, enduring the pain, stared intensely at Moby Dick and tore an opening in the cracked wound.
The pain of the flesh was the most real...
She trembled all over in pain, kneeling in the rain with blood all over her chin and arms, resembling a zombie gnawing at itself.
A segment of bone from her severed wrists poked out of the wounds, like a knife honed from bone.
"Moby Dick... I’ve been dead since the day you shot me with Black Medicine. I’ve been in Hell ever since, and now, come down with me!" Yaha roared.
Moby Dick was frozen by the scene before him, feeling both sick and cold.
"I stab at you from the Heart of Hell! I expel my last breath! Die, you damn bastard!"
Yaha lunged at Moby Dick like a madman, stabbing at his neck with the sharp bone of her severed arm.
Moby Dick grabbed the bloody severed arm, but the sharp bone still penetrated the length of a forefinger, like a fishbone in his throat.
He opened his mouth, trying to suck in air, but his throat was filled with rainwater. Moby Dick stretched out his right hand to grab Yaha’s neck, but he couldn’t stop her from exerting more force.
The bone stabbed deeper, and the blood from Yaha’s severed arm mixed with the blood from the wounds on Moby Dick’s neck, washed into a bloody river by the heavy rain.
Moby Dick looked up at the pale sky, his face purple from lack of oxygen. Yaha also lay on top of him, her body pale and bloodless.
Both gradually lost their strength, embracing each other and passed out, as the rain poured on them, forming a shallow lake of blood beneath them.
