I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -
Chapter 905: Ultimately Took a Different Path
Chapter 905: Chapter 905: Ultimately Took a Different Path
After Liu Meimei finished speaking, Principal Zhang looked at Jiaojiao in disbelief, too stunned to utter a word.
He then turned his gaze to Yu Jingting, eyes filled with suspicion.
How could Jiaojiao, a student excellent in both character and academics, and with such outstanding elder siblings, possibly commit such an act of rebellion?
"Liu Meimei, I gave you a chance which you didn’t cherish," Jiaojiao said expressionlessly, her eyes even filled with sympathy.
"As for who is really pregnant, I think the outpatient doctor and the doctor who performed the ultrasound will remember. Just ask them."
As soon as Jiaojiao finished speaking, Liu Meimei realized how foolish her words had been, but by then it was already too late to take them back.
At that moment, Liu Meimei had a complete blank in her mind. Her plan was totally beyond what she had anticipated, and she didn’t know how to respond, so she could only look towards her stepbrother for help.
Li Tiehui, who had participated in Liu Meimei’s scheme from the start, was also utterly dumbfounded at this point. Seeing the plan exposed, he turned around and left without a second thought for Liu Meimei’s fate.
"Li Tiehui! Are you even a man? It’s your child I’m carrying, and you just walk away like that?" Liu Meimei yelled furiously.
Suizi and the others’ mouths formed ’o’ shapes—there was an unexpected twist?
This plot was far more thrilling than anything Suizi knew.
Although Li Tiehui and Liu Meimei were not blood-related, they were still called brother and sister. Their relationship would certainly be condemned by society.
What surprised Suizi even more was how young Liu Meimei was and yet she had so many men!
"Does she have more romantic experience than me?" After saying that, Suizi felt a chill nearby; Yu Jingting was giving her a cold look.
That look was clearly saying, "You’re envious of this? You want to find a few more boys?"
Realizing she had misspoken, Suizi quickly cleared her throat, attempting to shift the conflict.
"Such matters shouldn’t be spoken of lightly. For safety’s sake, we should still consult the Director—Jingting, weren’t you just about to introduce the Director to the Principal?"
With one sentence, Suizi kicked the ball out of her court, handling everything so naturally and smoothly, sealing Liu Meimei’s fate completely.
At that moment, Liu Meimei felt the world spinning, her vision darkening.
Just before she passed out, she saw Jiaojiao.
Jiaojiao reached out to support her.
Jiaojiao’s arms were as delicate and beautiful as she remembered, those slender fingers the prettiest Liu Meimei had ever seen, evoking an envy she had never voiced.
The first time Liu Meimei saw Jiaojiao, what struck her most were those hands—beautiful to the extreme.
Back then, Liu Meimei was shocked by her impression of them: slender and elegantly narrow, as white as sculpted jade.
Other students’ hands would show some cracking skin during winter, but Yu Jiaojiao’s hands remained as white as jade all year round. Liu Meimei had seen with her own eyes that Yu Jiaojiao, after washing her hands at school, would take out a small box containing fragrant cream.
Something others would hesitate to use on their faces was what Jiaojiao carried to moisturize her hands. After school, those soft, pale hands would slip into warm gloves, every detail accentuating a delicate preciousness out of step with the era.
These meticulous aspects were all enforced by Suizi, who was particularly attentive because Jiaojiao’s hands were meant for playing the piano.
The aunt and niece had no idea that such a detail they thought insignificant had caused Liu Meimei to harbor envy and jealousy for over two years, which ultimately turned into hatred.
Liu Meimei could never understand why Yu Jiaojiao was born into such a good family, while she herself was like a drifting duckweed, living a nomadic life with her mother, reliant on others, and unable to speak out even when violated by her stepbrother.
She felt she would never possess hands like Jiaojiao’s, hands that only constant care and pampering could nurture—refined, delicate hands that represented a chasm she could never cross in her lifetime.
So when someone made the request for her to deal with Jiaojiao, Liu Meimei agreed without hesitation.
If she couldn’t be the little princess adored by thousands like Jiaojiao, then she would pull Jiaojiao down from the clouds, make her stand in the muddy, dusty world alongside herself, and watch the world’s murky indifference—then she wouldn’t be alone.
But when her deeds were exposed, her schemes unravelled, and she was left with no one to turn to, the only person willing to help her was Jiaojiao.
It was the same pair of hands, but what Liu Meimei felt now was emotion beyond jealousy. She remembered those two years when those hands had given her caramels, braided her hair, and even held her hand as they walked together along the school’s stone paths through spring, summer, winter, fall...
These memories flashed quickly through Liu Meimei’s mind. She reached out to hold Jiaojiao’s hand, but was too weak, and darkness engulfed her last thread of consciousness.
There was no going back.
The last bit of warmth had been strangled by her own hand, and now she truly was alone...
Jiaojiao held the unconscious Liu Meimei in her arms, while Yu Jingting furrowed his brow, about to scold his sister.
Why hold such a thing, sullying your hands.
That Liu Meimei, so young and already full of wicked schemes, should be dropped on the ground.
A bump on her head would serve her right.
Suizi pulled at Yu Jingting, shaking her head at him.
"Jingting, what on earth is going on here—?" Principal Zhang was confused.
"We’re not exactly sure about the specifics, but since this involves a minor, I think it would be best to inform her family first. As for what to do next, that is a matter for the school and her family to deal with."
Suizi clearly didn’t want to get involved in the matter, and it was obvious that Liu Meimei’s transfer was inevitable.
Whether she would be expelled or have her record marked depended on her family’s influence.
Regardless, the love triangle with her stepbrother and Chen Lun would ultimately lead to Liu Meimei reaping what she sowed, beyond redemption.
Leaving the hospital, Yu Jingting wore an expression of dissatisfaction.
Suizi knew that Yu Jingting was displeased with how things were handled. His preference would have been for Liu Meimei to take a hard fall, ideally to the point of miscarriage—it would be nothing less than what she deserved.
Yu Jingting looked at Suizi’s ever-smiling face and said irritably, "Jiaojiao’s misguided compassion all comes from you."
Suizi nodded. Yes, it was very much like her.
Jiaojiao handled the whole affair decisively, waiting for the other party to make a move first and then countering each move, letting them suffer the consequences without dirtying her own hands. She had indeed learned from the best—Suizi.
"You still don’t understand women, Jingting. A blunt knife to the heart causes the deepest pain. What Jiaojiao did today will be enough for Liu Meimei to regret for the rest of her life."
Especially that final act of support, Suizi was very pleased with it.
Jiaojiao had grown into exactly what Suizi had hoped for—her heart harboring deep complexities, adhering to her principles, witnessing the world’s cold realities. Yet, she still held an undiminished love for the world.
Jiaojiao and Little Luobo did not take the family car, but went to the park to row boats and unwind.
"People only realize what they had and regret it after they’ve lost it. Childhood friends... such a precious thing. Liu Meimei had the chance to grow up with Jiaojiao, what a pity..."
Suizi looked out of the car window and saw a few kids, about the same age as Little Luobo, running and playing in the alleyways.
Each pursuing their own paths, yet never to meet at the summit.
Ultimately taking two different roads.
