I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -
Chapter 904: Isn’t This Courting Death?
Chapter 904: Chapter 904: Isn’t This Courting Death?
Suizi escorted Chen Lijun out and they sat down on the chairs in the hallway. She took out a newspaper from her bag and handed it to Chen Lijun.
Mother and daughter shielded their faces with the newspaper and whispered to each other.
"What are you stirring up now?" Chen Lijun asked.
"Just sit and watch. Jiaojiao said it’s more entertaining than the melodramatic TV series you watch at night. She’ll clean your house for a year."
At this, Chen Lijun perked up and immediately straightened up, her eyes darting back and forth across the edge of the newspaper.
They had appointments with specialists, and two rooms away was the general gynecology clinic.
A bit further was the hospital lobby, bustling with people coming and going.
Chen Lijun nudged Suizi.
"Look at that person next to the sign in the lobby; doesn’t he look bizarre?"
It was a young man in his twenties, clutching a camera, lurking and looking around sneakily.
In the particular environment of the hospital, where everyone is usually in a hurry, the presence of such an individual was highly suspicious.
"Congratulations on finding the highlight. Keep quiet and continue watching."
The door to the general gynecology clinic opened, and Jiaojiao walked out.
The man by the sign immediately raised his camera, ready to capture Jiaojiao, but someone pressed down on his shoulder.
The man turned around impatiently: "Who the hell—ah!"
Dada threw a punch, landing a black eye on the man and said expressionlessly, "I’m your father!"
The man was caught off guard by the blow, and the camera fell from his hand onto the ground.
Dada briskly stepped forward and snatched the camera before the man could react, pulling out the film inside.
Old cameras have film that can’t be exposed to light; once exposed, it’s ruined.
"Are you crazy?!" The man had begun taking stealthy photos of Jiaojiao and Liu Meimei as soon as they entered the hospital.
He was quite skillful, only capturing shots where Jiaojiao was alone in the frame, deliberately missing Liu Meimei.
All that hard work vanished in an instant with Dada’s intervention, leaving the man’s efforts up in smoke.
"Yeah, I’ve got a condition that makes me feel restless if I don’t punch you!" Dada kicked the man in the stomach.
Jiaojiao stood in the corridor, seeing Dada hammering someone, a slight smile curling at the corner of her mouth.
It seemed she didn’t need to intervene this time; Dada finally became a true hero all on his own.
Whenever Dada had gotten into fights before, he always needed Jiaojiao’s help to escape trouble. This had bothered Dada quite a bit, so he had sought advice from Yu Jingting.
After learning a couple of practical moves from Yu Jingting, his fighting skills significantly improved.
Only after subduing the man did Dada realize he looked somewhat familiar.
"Are you Li Tiehui?!"
The man also recognized Dada and hurriedly covered his face, trying to get up from the ground, only to be kicked down again by the rushing Jiaojiao.
Jiaojiao’s kick was swift and powerful; Suizi nodded in approval and shared her thoughts with Chen Lijun:
"It’s good for girls to have long legs. Not only do they look good in clothes, but their kicks pack a punch too."
Chen Lijun nodded, watching intently.
"Why are they fighting? Shouldn’t we go help Jiaojiao?"
"Our kid is not at a disadvantage. Why the rush? Let’s just keep watching."
Suizi’s gaze also remained fixed on the scene, noticing Dada holding the man down and questioning him, appearing to recognize each other.
"How do you know Liu Meimei’s brother?" Jiaojiao asked Dada.
She had already recognized him, the man she had kicked to the ground was Liu Meimei’s stepbrother.
Liu Meimei was not related to him by blood, as her mother had remarried to Li Tiehui’s father, making them siblings in name only.
"He’s a chess player too, I’ve played against him."
Although Li Tiehui was already in his twenties, he was just an amateur chess player. Whether he was an amateur 5-dan or 6-dan, Dada couldn’t remember.
Dada’s professional ranking had come from a national competition, where he moved up from amateur 7-dan to professional 3-dan by defeating Li Tiehui.
A single game had widened the gap between their statuses, with Dada advancing in rank and securing a chance to compete internationally in winter, while Li Tiehui had to start all over again.
"You couldn’t possibly be trying to undermine my morale using Jiaojiao, leading me to make a mistake and lose my qualification for competition, to take my place as a substitute, could you?" As a professional chess player, Dada immediately connected all the events upon seeing Li Tiehui.
Amateur players of more than 6-dan could act as substitutes in matches, but only if something went wrong with the professional chess players ahead of them.
In Beijing, among the thirty-six people with official chess player qualifications, Dada had the least experience and was the last to be promoted.
If Dada ran into trouble, he would have a chance to be a substitute.
"I was just passing by, taking a few photos, don’t accuse me unjustly!" Li Tiehui broke free from Jiaojiao and scrabbled to his feet, vigorously defending himself even as his eyes involuntarily darted forward.
Following his gaze, Jiaojiao saw Liu Meimei, head lowered, hurrying outside.
This was a sign she had been caught in the act and was trying to flee!
Jiaojiao pointed at Liu Meimei and shouted, "Liu Meimei! Your B-ultrasound images are still with me!"
Liu Meimei, without turning her head, hurriedly picked up her pace, the door just in front of her.
Just as her hand was about to touch the door, a long arm blocked her path.
Liu Meimei looked up to see Yu Jingting chewing bubblegum, blowing a large bubble, and waving at her.
Liu Meimei’s pupils dilated, not understanding how her well-laid plans were falling apart. Neither Dada nor Jiaojiao’s brother were supposed to be in her scenario.
She had arranged with Jiaojiao to come alone with her.
Then she tricked Jiaojiao into going inside to fetch her medicine while her brother waited outside to take pictures.
She intended to take a few photos when Jiaojiao came out and post them on the school’s bulletin board. That way, Jiaojiao would have a hard time avoiding expulsion.
But from the moment Dada knocked Li Tiehui down, the situation had spiraled out of control.
Yu Jingting popped his bubblegum and smiled at the man beside him:
"Principal Zhang, isn’t this a coincidence? We’ve run into a student from your school."
Only then did Liu Meimei notice the man standing next to Yu Jingting; he was their school’s Principal.
She went pale with fear, unable to find her voice.
How could the Principal be here?
"Which class are you from? What are you doing here?" Principal Zhang scrutinized Liu Meimei, with no recollection of her.
Principal Zhang had been brought here by Yu Jingting, whose wife had a gynecological tumor. Yu Jingting had found a doctor for him, and today he had "coincidentally" taken him to meet the doctor.
The network of Yu Jingting and his wife was not to be underestimated. If they wanted, there was no opportunity they couldn’t create.
"Good afternoon, Principal!" Jiaojiao ran over.
Principal Zhang recognized Jiaojiao not only because her brother and sister-in-law had donated a lot to the school, but also because Jiaojiao had won several national piano championships. Even among key middle schools, she was a source of pride for the school; teachers always kept a deep impression of students with good grades and special talents like her and Dada.
"Yu Jiaojiao is here too?" The Principal looked from Jiaojiao to Liu Meimei, sensing that something was amiss.
All of a sudden, Liu Meimei burst into tears and said, "Jiaojiao, there’s no hiding it anymore, you’re pregnant. I just accompanied you here."
Chen Lijun who had come to watch couldn’t hold back her anger, as the child was blatantly lying!
"Pfft!" Suizi chuckled, and Yu Jingting also curled his lip.
Wasn’t this asking for trouble?
