Chapter 812: Chapter 812 Is There Such a Possibility
Yu Jingting moved some prepared gifts from the car trunk, obviously arranged in advance.
Fan Huang’s mother was somewhat baffled. Was he really not afraid at all?
"Let’s go, since we’re here, how can we not enter? Don’t just stand at the door, come on, hurry up. You guys from the Mei Family, aren’t you coming in too?" Yu Jingting asked the people who had gotten out of the car behind him.
Everyone was shocked by his bold move.
This... isn’t he Fan Huang’s most proud son-in-law?
How come he’s more enthusiastic than all of them?
These people were also pushed into this by Fan Huang’s mother, intending to make a show of force without wanting to blow things up.
Now they hadn’t yet started to get real, but Yu Jingting had already shown an enthusiasm beyond the ordinary, which puzzled everyone and even scared them a little...
Without giving the Mei Family a chance to think, Yu Jingting directly called out loudly.
"Uncle Wang~are you at home?"
"It’s Jingting and Hansui who have arrived, come on in," a woman came out smiling to welcome them, "Your Uncle Wang was just saying, it’s been a long time since he played chess with you, and here you are—oh, is Elder Sister-in-law here too?"
This kind of superficial conversation, purely without emotion, was something Suizi and Yu Jingting were used to.
How could these youngsters have such great prestige on their own? This was all out of respect for Fan Huang.
Speaking of which, Uncle Wang was half a notch higher than Fan Huang, but Fan Huang held the real power, and Uncle Wang didn’t dare to touch Fan Huang’s people.
Fan Huang’s mother didn’t even understand these relationships before she dared to threaten Fan Huang and Chen Lijun. Suizi could only lament that the old lady had no political sensitivity whatsoever.
"Ah, we, well..." Fan Huang’s mother stammered, now truly at a loss for what to do.
It was like she stood on the rooftop, wanting to threaten others with jumping in order to achieve her goals—she didn’t really want to die—but now, Yu Jingting had forced her hand, putting Fan Huang’s mother in a difficult position.
"Don’t all stand outside, come inside to talk," Lady Wang was astute, sensing something was going on, she hastily welcomed them in with enthusiasm while exchanging pleasantries with Yu Jingting.
"You’re here already, what are you carrying?"
"My dad has been craving the pickles you make, and I couldn’t just come empty-handed to ask for some, so I brought some specialities from my hometown to exchange. You must do me the favor of not sending me back empty-handed."
In this exchange, they both knew very well, Yu Jingting couldn’t possibly be carrying local products. An unspoken understanding; such is the society of human relationships, like the world of Jianghu.
At this point, Fan Huang’s mother had no choice but to steel herself and have everyone wait outside for her, figuring out how to smooth things over.
Doctor Xue came out of the car behind, and as soon as Fan Huang’s mother saw her getting out, her hair nearly stood on end.
Inviting the doctor was meant to be a scare tactic; she didn’t actually want her to show up.
"Eh? Isn’t that Doctor Xue? What are you doing here?" Lady Wang also recognized Doctor Xue, a famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor in the city.
"Just accompanying an old friend to chat, and incidentally to ask for a cup of tea."
Now without any way to back out, Fan Huang’s mother had to follow everyone into the courtyard with a stiff smile on her face, her heart fluttering with unease.
Suizi saw her strut around pompously in front of her parents but turn into a pushover once outside, feeling both angry and amused.
Acting tough at home, that’s exactly what they call a bossy older princess.
A man in his fifties was sitting in the room, reading the newspaper; he stood up immediately to greet them as he saw Fan Huang’s mother leading Yu Jingting and his wife inside.
Fan Huang’s mother exchanged a few insincere pleasentries and sat down not knowing how to conclude things, her heart uneasy as she weighed the pros and cons.
Suizi saw her reaction and couldn’t help but sigh.
This old princess really wasn’t cut out for battle. Both cowardly and petty, if she didn’t resemble her dad quite a bit, Suizi would have thought they had brought home the wrong child.
Yu Jingting mingled with ease, during which Fan’s mother clearly couldn’t sit still. Yu Jingting purposely dragged on a little, tormenting the old lady to no end before getting to the point.
"I’m here to ask for Uncle Wang’s help with something. You’re aware of the new addition to my mother-in-law’s family."
Fan’s mother’s heart leapt to her throat, and her face instantly turned white.
"I’m here to play a little double act with you."
Watching the old lady’s reaction, Suizi almost died laughing on the inside. Jingting really knew how to hurt someone—never saying things directly but playing them until they couldn’t take it anymore.
"Double act?"
"According to my mother-in-law’s wishes, she intends to keep working until she’s due, but my father-in-law can’t take it anymore. She felt unwell today, and it scared my father-in-law so much he almost had a heart attack."
"Is it that serious?" Uncle Wang’s heart leaped, and he immediately started to ponder.
Fan valued this pregnancy greatly, which was obvious to anyone. Even though Lijun’s project couldn’t be abandoned, finding someone else to take it over was still better than offending Fan....
Doctor Xue, who was present, spoke up at the right time: "Chen’s pregnancy is almost three months along now. Although it can be said that the Fetal Qi is stable, the heat of summer is severe, and it’s not good for a pregnant woman to be stressed."
"???" Hearing Doctor Xue say this, Fan’s mother felt as if three huge question marks appeared over her head.
What on earth were these people talking about?
Wasn’t Chen Lijun faking her pregnancy? What was this about actually being pregnant?
Fan’s mother knew Doctor Xue, who would never falsify a testimony. This doctor had her principles, which was why Fan’s mother had thought of dragging her here to intimidate Chen Lijun.
"Given the circumstances, let’s have Lijun work from home for now. Fan has been waiting for such a treasure well into his forties. Although it’s not exactly a case of ’old-age parenting,’ it’s still precious—when I say this, I hope Hansui, your elder sister, won’t be jealous?" Uncle Wang joked.
"How could I be? I’m just as happy as all the elders. I’ve even prepared reference books for my future brother or sister in advance. Our family may not be enormously wealthy, but we value education and our home is filled with the fragrance of books."
Uncle Wang’s grandson Xiaosun ran over and, hearing Suizi talk about "preparing reference books," got so scared he turned around and ran back to his room, closing the door tightly with a click of the lock.
He feared that this beautiful older sister, who always earned high praise from his grandfather after her visits, would give him a set of reference books as well.
He really didn’t need that.
The child’s actions made everyone laugh, and Yu Jingting jokingly raised his voice, "Zhuangzhuang, should your uncle bring you a set next time? I have lots of reference books at home."
"My whole body aches, ahhh..." Zhuangzhuang’s whining voice came through the door, once again amusing everyone.
Uncle Wang shook his head with a smile.
"Silly boy, making all of you laugh."
"An ambitious kid shows promise. You can tell Zhuangzhuang is smart just by looking at him, Uncle Wang. You’ve got a successor indeed." Yu Jingting showered Uncle Wang with flattery, leaving him feeling quite pleased.
Fan’s mother was still petrified, while the others were happily chatting away about children and joyful matters. But Fan’s mother couldn’t muster a smile; instead, she felt a bone-chilling cold.
Could it be possible that Chen Lijun was indeed pregnant?
If that were the case....
Four words emerged in Fan’s mother’s mind: It’s all over now.
