I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -
Chapter 726: How Much Do I Resemble My Past Self?
Chapter 726: Chapter 726: How Much Do I Resemble My Past Self?
"Sister-in-law, what’s wrong?" Jiaojiao was led home by Suizi all the way, feeling like her arm was about to be torn off by Suizi.
"That woman, do you know her?" Suizi asked.
"Her son is my classmate."
"Is it Qian Jun? From now on, don’t talk to him when you see him, don’t go to school with him."
"Why?" Jiaojiao looked a bit frantic when she heard Suizi forbidding her to talk to Qian Jun.
"No reason! Because he has a big-mouthed mother, because I can’t stand his mother!"
"The conflicts between adults should not involve us, should they? A lot of us go to school together, you know that."
When Yu Jingting had time, he would pick up the children from school. If he was busy one day, Jiaojiao would walk with the students from this alleyway, with three to five children. The boys walked in front, and the girls followed.
"I can’t control others, but I can’t allow him!" Thinking of Qian Jun’s mother’s sharp-tongued, rumor-spreading face, Suizi still felt angry.
"Don’t naively believe that a mother is a mother and a child is a child. How can a natal family possibly be completely detached? If the mother’s conduct is bad, it is highly likely to affect her child’s values."
Suizi was extremely unimpressed by Qian Jun’s mother.
Being able to smear a girl’s reputation with such ugly speculations based on no evidence was not just a problem of gossipy nature, but of character.
"As a guardian, I will not allow anyone with ill intentions to approach you. I won’t interfere in your freedom to make friends, but ..." Suizi laid down her line.
Jiaojiao was upset by what she said. Her voice trembled as she protested.
"You were not like this before! Isn’t this just being autocratic?"
Yu Jingting came out at the sound of the commotion. Seeing his wife and sister arguing, he hurried over, embraced Suizi with one hand, and felt that something was off.
Suizi’s shoulders were trembling slightly. He was taken aback and looked down to see Suizi’s eyes were red.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How can you talk to your sister-in-law like this?"
"You’re disgusting!" Jiaojiao shouted at her brother and ran into the house, slamming the door behind her.
"Don’t cry. She’s just an idiot. Aren’t all teenagers like this? I will talk to her and have her apologize to you."
Seeing Suizi shedding tears, Yu Jingting tried to comfort her, wiping her tears but more fell.
"I’m not mad at her, I’m angry-" Tears kept falling from Suizi’s eyes.
"When you were her age, you didn’t make it easy for me either." Chen Lijun walked in with the two children. She neutrally commented, "If I were a crybaby like you, I would have been drowned in tears because of you a long time ago."
Actually, Suizi understood.
Teenagers gradually develop their self-consciousness, and they always think they’re adults. They rebel, making it the most troublesome age for parents.
Frankly speaking, Jiaojiao’s rebellion was lighter compared to most people her age. The way she had just managed the conversation with Jiaojiao was indeed flawed.
But even though she knew this, the anger was very real.
"You’re a parent, how can you let a child get you so upset? I think you should not have children, so you don’t risk dying of anger." Chen Lijun said.
Yu Jingting felt that his wife was about to lose control, and a vein popped on his forehead.
"Mother in law, don’t add fuel to the fire. Are you here to make peace, or are you a spy from the enemy?" Yu Jingting felt like his mother-in-law was deliberately trying to upset Suizi.
"What do you know? This is detoxification therapy. If I don’t get her anger out, with your wife’s introverted personality, she’ll be depressed for a year."
"I’m going to scold that little brat, Jiaojiao. I spent so much energy on her." Yu Jingting cracked his knuckles. When it comes to dealing with rebellious kids, it’s best to just scold them if they’re not listening.
"Hold on!" Suizi grabbed him, "An apology that isn’t genuine is useless."
"Mommy, don’t cry." Luo Luo ran over to embrace Suizi, and Bobo also looked worried.
Seeing her children so worried about her, Suizi took a few deep breaths. She realized that she hadn’t had control of her emotions, which wasn’t good in front of the kids.
"Mommy is fine, go play." Suizi touched the heads of her two children,
Then she returned to her room, saddened. She needed to cool down.
"You were just fighting with someone like a rooster, now you’re like a stray dog." Chen Lijun shook her head.
"Mother, if you’re worried about her just say it. Every time you say something nice, it comes out with all kinds of different meanings." Yu Jingting sighed. His mother-in-law really didn’t try to be liked by his wife.
"Did you say that my wife has fought someone? She physically fought someone?" Yu Jingting caught the key point.
Chen Lijun told everything she had seen, and the two little radishes added details of how Suizi fought back, pulling hair, scratching face. Luoluo was acting out Suizi’s fight, bringing the life into this re-telling.
After listening to the whole story from Chen Lijun and connecting it with Jiaojiao’s sudden change in behavior in the car, Yu Jingting instantly understood why Suizi was so mad.
"Mother, did you say the woman’s brother works in your unit? Where is he from?"
"I don’t pay much attention to these lower-level staff. I remember he has a southern accent. I’ll check his file when I go back."
This connected to the south. Yu Jingting had solved the case.
If it was just some ordinary sharp-tongued person, Suizi could have resolved this with a beating. He guessed that Qian Jun was the Phoenix Wood boy that Jiaojiao had a crush on.
"I’m going to talk to Suizi." Yu Jingting slapped his hands against the boy and girl twins. "You two don’t go to your aunt’s room right now. She’s being an idiot. I’m afraid she’ll scratch you."
Yu Jingting pushed the bedroom door open, thinking his gentle wife would be wiping her tears.
She was indeed crying, but not the kind of tearful beauty that evoked sympathy. She was crying while cracking hazelnuts with a big iron clamp.
Yu Jingting laughed.
"If you’re really angry, you should use the clamp to break the front teeth of that idiot. Why are you cracking hazelnuts? You’re wasting good stuff."
Jiaojiao likes to eat hazelnuts. When Suizi and her husband have time, they would prepare some for her. Jiaojiao has to play the piano, everyone in the family cherishes her and is afraid she will hurt her hands.
"Why would I break our children’s teeth? I just hate the wild boars out there who covet our cabbage, and dare to bruise our cabbage!"
Suizi squeezed hard, and the hazelnut cracked.
Suizi found it hard not to think badly of that little brat, Qian Jun. If not for what the brat had said to his mother, would the old women have made up stories about Jiaojiao?
Just because he couldn’t get her, he began to smear her. What kind of character is that?
"Tsk tsk, look at you now, who was it that disliked my ’Must-Read Guide for Women of the Yu Family’? How are you different from me?" Yu Jingting teased her purposely.
"Jiaojiao said I’ve changed from before- Jingting, look at me, how much do I look like I used to?" With a pair of pliers in her hand, Suizi asked grimly.
"Well..." Yu Jingting hesitated. This was a question loaded with danger.
