Chapter 725: Protecting the Calf is Hereditary
Chapter 725: Chapter 725: Protecting the Calf is Hereditary
Suizi noticed the woman talking with a sour tone. Her accent wasn’t from the north, but Suizi couldn’t pinpoint exactly where it was from. The sourness in her speech was stronger than her accent anyway.Suizi wanted to ignore the comment. Her family was on the rise, so some envy and sour comments were to be expected. Ignoring one or two comments would usually do the trick.
However, what the woman said next was something Suizi couldn’t ignore.
"My son and the eldest girl from the Yu Family are classmates. Although I didn’t want to say this, don’t you notice that she, merely in her teens, bears an uncanny resemblance to a mature woman in terms of her tall stature, large bust, and slim waist? Do you know why?"
Wasn’t it because of good nutrition and ample exercise? Suizi thought to herself.
As living standards have improved in recent years, children’s average heights have generally increased as well.
Jiaojiao usually sits in the back row in her class. With her parents’ genes, Suizi estimated Jiaojiao’s genetic height to be about 165cm based on the heights of her in-laws. Depending on nutrition, exercise habits, and daily routines, a swing of 5 centimeters upward or downward could occur, with some individuals even breaking that range.
Jiaojiao was now 164cm tall. Suizi believed she still had room to grow, and catching up with her mother was merely a matter of time. As for puberty and developing curves, she believed that Jiaojiao was perfectly normal. It would be weird if a girl her age didn’t develop breasts.
But in the eyes of dirty-minded people, even normal development could be twisted into something scandalous.
"All of this is because at a young age, she started indulging in immoral behaviors! My son told me that she frequently goes to the teacher’s office after school. Her homeroom teacher is a man... You get what I’m saying, right?"
"The male teacher you’re talking about is my uncle." Suizi’s voice was heard, and she had her fists clenched.
The gossipmongering woman didn’t expect Suizi to be standing behind her, and was momentarily taken aback.
Suizi slowly emerged, her gaze sweeping over each person present, before finally settling on the gossiping woman.
Seeing this, the other women hurriedly distanced themselves from the situation.
"We certainly don’t think so, it’s all her saying this."
"Absolutely, we all know Jiaojiao, she’s definitely not that kind of child."
"I, Chen Hansui, have lived here for several years now. I am under the impression that I’ve always treated my neighbors with utter respect. If anyone has any issues with me or my family members, we can converse face-to-face. But I absolutely cannot tolerate comments made behind the backs of my children."
Suizi stated resolutely, her eyes sharp as she stared down the woman who had spread the rumors.
"Jiaojiao is the Class Leader. Class Leaders naturally have more responsibilities compared to the rest of the students. When she goes to the office, it isn’t just her homeroom teacher present. Besides, the aforementioned teacher is my uncle. Your son and Jiaojiao are classmates. Let’s bring out the teacher to confront this issue?"
"I was just saying things without thinking, how can you take it so seriously?" The woman’s face changed color upon the mention of calling the homeroom teacher. She laughed nervously, trying to pass her comments off as a joke.
"Just saying? So one can casually speak ill of a girl’s reputation? Not only am I taking it seriously, but I also remember it. My biggest strength is my good memory. I will remember you for a lifetime if this matter is not resolved!"
Suizi raised her voice, her face flushed red.
"Let it be, let’s say you’re right." The woman, having no justification, gave a dismissal statement and tried to walk away.
A knot formed in Suizi’s chest, and she didn’t feel good unless she vented it out. But she also felt that arguing like a shrew was pointless.
How would it help to argue with such a foul-tongued person for three days and three nights?
She would never realize her mistakes, and it would just be a waste of breath.
However, enduring it was like suppressing the development of breast nodules, and retreating was like inviting cysts.
Reasoning with such a woman was like talking to a dog, so Suizi decided to take a different approach.
Suizi briskly stepped forward, grabbing the woman’s collar. The woman almost choked.
"Are you insane?" The woman instinctively cursed.
"Apologize to my sister-in-law!" Suizi didn’t let go.
Had Suizi not laid her hands on the woman, she might have apologized. But Suizi purposely enraged her, and in the heat of anger, the woman started to argue.
"Why are you losing your temper if you’re not feeling guilty?"
This was the exact bait Suizi was waiting for.
She kicked the woman’s stomach, followed by a chokehold, grabbed her hair and pulled a clump out, and then started scratching, leaving the woman with a scratched face.
Even though these were shrew-like tactics and might be frowned upon, it was indeed gratifying to let it out. Suizi attacked the woman by surprise, scratching her to the point of yelling out loud. She then took a couple of steps back, built up energy from her lower abdomen, and spat in the woman’s face.
When Chen Lijun came out with her children, she found her elegantly charming daughter fighting like a shrew, beating the other woman.
"Oh my..." Without looking at the face, it was hard for Chen Lijun to believe that this was her daughter.
"Apologize! You don’t have to, but one of our families must move, and it certainly won’t be us! If anyone dares to speak ill of any member of my family, I, Chen Hansui, will not stop until they move!"
The onlooking older women initially wanted to mediate the situation, but seeing how serious Suizi was, they changed their tune and started to advise the battered woman instead.
"Qian Jun’s mother, just apologize. This whole thing is your fault. How can you talk about someone’s child without any reason?"
Intimidated by Suizi, the battered woman had no choice but to lower her head, her face hot, and muttered:
"I’m sorry, I won’t say it again."
"From now on, if I hear any rumors about my sister-in-law, I’ll attribute them all to you. If you don’t move out by then, I’ll consider it my loss!" Suizi seldom spoke with such severity.
But in today’s situation, she had no choice but to be tough. If she showed any signs of weakness, her family, and Jiaojiao in particular, would get talked about.
"Auntie, why is it you?" Jiaojiao seemed taken aback when she recognized the woman whose face Suizi scratched. She ran over to ask.
"You, come here!" Suizi jerked Jiaojiao’s arm, her tone very blunt.
Jiaojiao looked at Suizi, confused, her eyes filling with hurt. Suizi had never been so harsh with her.
"Let’s go home!" Suizi pulled Jiaojiao away, holding her arm like a clamp, not letting go. If Jiaojiao dared to look back at that shrew, Suizi would dig her nails into her arm.
Suizi was so angry she left her twins alone, and Chen Lijun led the two children closely behind.
As they passed the woman, Chen Lijun paused.
"If I remember correctly, your brother works at my office, right?"
Chen Lijun spoke very softly and gently.
Yet the woman was covered in cold sweat in the summer heat.
"This, this was all a misunderstanding...." When she was gossiping, she had forgotten what Suizi’s mother did for a living.
Now that she remembered, it was already too late.
"Watch your mouth and behave," she warned.
Perhaps the instinct to protect one’s offspring is inheritable. Chen Lijun didn’t care about right or wrong, she just wanted to protect her own, which might be a trait she passed onto Suizi.
