I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -
Chapter 667: This is the Gift from Suizi
Chapter 667: Chapter 667: This is the Gift from Suizi
As a child, her mother never affirmed her, but as she grew older, she was willing to tell her mother, during her moments of confusion, that she deserved everything she had.
Perhaps that is the meaning of family.
Letting a group of imperfect people come together to create a possibly perfect ending.
After Suizi finished speaking, she felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted off her chest. These words, which had been suppressed in her heart, were not only a means of reconciliation for her, but also a form of salvation.
Chen Lijun, moved to tears by her daughter’s heartfelt sharing, felt as if her heart was filled to the brim, almost overflowing.
"Mom, you need to have some faith in my wife. She’s no longer the little girl who needed you to throw stones to protect her."
Yu Jingting’s embrace was around the still strong Suizi, who was in tears.
Chen Lijun turned around, only this time, her direction was towards the restaurant’s lobby.
Seemingly in a daze, Suizi heard words from her mother that she had never heard before.
"Thank you."
One second she was crying her eyes out, the next second she hiccuped and asked Yu Jingting.
"Am I hallucinating?"
The always stubborn Chen Lijun, Suizi had never heard a "thank you" or "sorry" from her mouth.
Such people seem to be born with a strong belief in their own righteousness, steadfastly believing that they never make mistakes, and could never possibly lower their noble heads, especially not to their juniors.
Even when Chen Lijun is wrong, she always finds ways to shift the blame onto others.
In Suizi’s words, being overly self-centered in a collective society is simply selfish.
To make a selfish person express sincere gratitude is an astonishing achievement, Suizi’s words, had indeed touched Chen Lijun’s soul, reaching into the depths of her long-cold heart with a pair of warm hands.
Fan Huang watched as time slowly passed by and felt certain Chen Lijun would not show up. Even though he had mentally prepared for it and even had countermeasures in place, he still felt a bit disappointed.
Suizi and her husband didn’t show up either. He guessed that the kids must have tried every possible means to persuade Chen Lijun. Even if they hadn’t succeeded, they weren’t lacking in effort.
Fan Huang saw how much effort Suizi had put into organizing the wedding banquet. Even though he considered himself to have detached himself from materialistic desires, he couldn’t help but feel a little unbalanced.
He felt unbalanced, thinking about how such a good child was born to his good-for-nothing brother. The more he thought about it, the less bearable it became.
Just as Fan Huang was lost in thought, Chen Lijun walked in.
The appearance of the elaborately dressed Chen Lijun caused a sensation in the room, and Fan Huang was overjoyed.
The young couple, Suizi and her husband, really had some capabilities - they could actually invite her.
"I am late because I had some car problems on the road. You all didn’t make things difficult for my husband Fan, right? He can’t hold his liquor, so please don’t keep pouring him alcohol," Chen Lijun greeted everyone in the room, laughing heartily.
Chen Lijun was quite capable when it came to socializing. Her arrival shattered everyone’s assumption that only the groom would be toasting, and it also removed the weight off Fan Huang’s chest.
Seeing that her eyes were slightly red but she seemed to be in quite good spirits, not showing any signs of anger, Fan Huang made a mental note to revoke the couple’s motorbike.
Replace it with a small car.
The two kids are worth it.
"Is there alcohol in your glass?" Chen Lijun leaned in, speaking in a voice only the two of them could hear.
"There is."
"Change it, where is Meng Jun? Why didn’t he help you ward off some alcohol?" Chen Lijun frowned, unable to find Fan Huang’s secretary.
Just after she had asked, Meng Jun hurriedly entered from outside. He came over and whispered a few words into Fan Huang’s ear, causing his eyelid to twitch.
"You have a work emergency? Go deal with it, leave the rest to me. Jingting and the others will be here soon." Chen Lijun mistakenly thought that Fan Huang had to attend to some official business.
Fan Huang shook his head and gave his secretary a look. Meng Jun then lowered his voice and reported to Chen Lijun:
"Sister-in-law, it’s not something from the office, it’s Fan Hui...."
Fan Huang’s good-for-nothing and profligate younger brother, Fan Hui, was sent to teach in a faraway place. He threw tantrums and cried about wanting to come back home every couple of days.
Communication was slow in that remote place. It took almost a month to send a single letter.
Two days ago, Fan Huang received a letter from him.
As soon as he opened it, he was enraged.
Fan Hui seemed to have procured pig’s blood or duck’s blood from somewhere and used it to write a ’blood letter’. He threatened that if he was not transferred back, he would become a monk.
A ’blood letter’ that had been left for a month, was stinking already.
Even though Fan Huang didn’t think highly of his good-for-nothing brother, he sent people to find him on the mountainside overnight out of fear that he would actually become a monk.
Meng Jun had just stepped out when there was a phone call. It was from their people on the other end.
Midnight researchers went up the mountain but could not find any trace of Fan Hui becoming a Monk. Instead, he was spotted roasting chickens with a widow teacher in the playground. The chicken was stolen from the villagers’ home, and there were rumors that Fan Hui and the nearly sixty-year-old teacher were getting along very well.
Age couldn’t come in the way of love, it seemed, in a place where there were not many women around.
Meng Jun did not want to share this with his boss and his wife, but he was afraid that the unpredictable Fan Hui would make a scandal about his age gap love affair. If that happened, his boss would have to clean up the mess, so he had no choice but to tell them what was happening.
"Transfer the female teacher to another place. His passion will fade once he isn’t able to see her anymore. Didn’t he say he wanted to become a monk? Donate some money to the local temple and ask the master to go preach to him once a week. Cleanse his filthy soul and avoid unnecessary issues. Get this sorted immediately, and when you see Jingting, bring him over here. He keeps pampering his wife but forgets that his father-in-law can’t handle his alcohol. Ask him to come over quickly."
Chen Lijun took it as a joke and casually suggested a bad idea to make things worse for her first love.
When a mature woman like her looked back at her first love, she could only think, "Wow, was I as stupid as an ox back then, to have liked such a thing?"
Meng Jun left obeying her orders. Chen Lijun replaced the alcohol with water, and nudged the still grumpy Fan Huang.
"You’ve known about his character for a long time, why are you upset?"
"If it wasn’t for Suizi’s sake, I wouldn’t even care about his life or death." If Suizi didn’t have such a problematic biological dad, Fan Huang would have dealt with his unreliable brother long ago.
"Aha, then you better not give my maiden any trouble. My maiden has nothing to do with him. Why are you looking at me like that? It’s true, Suizi’s father is you."
"Yes, it’s me."
"What I am saying is, her biological father, her biological father is you. It happened when you were sick. I wonder if it’s because you were delirious from the fever that it affected the child’s quality. As a result, Suizi’s intelligence fluctuates. When it’s high, I can’t beat her, when it’s low, she only knows how to cry. She is a born warrior, but she prefers to act weak. After making me suffer, I have nowhere to cry, and she becomes the pitiful one. She cries her eyes out like she’s a poor little thing. She might even be hiding somewhere, crying her eyes out in her man’s arms..."
"Suizi does love to cry, but her intelligence is definitely not low. Wait a minute, what did you just say... I had fever... You mean it wasn’t a dream?!"
