I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -

Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Words and Languages
Meng Jun on the other end of the phone said twice who he was looking for, but Yu Jingting didn’t speak.
Just when Meng Jun thought he had dialed the wrong number or was being pranked, Yu Jingting finally spoke.
"Forget about the Arhat bed."
"Who are you?!" Meng Jun’s voice grew taut, full of vigilance.
"I am Yu Jingting, Clerk Meng, your memory isn’t too good, wasn’t our previous conversation in my home quite enjoyable?"
Click.
The call ended.
Yu Jingting scoffed, with just this level of psychological tolerance, how dare he act mysterious in front of his wife.
Humming a tune as he walked out of the office, he’d have to tell his wife how he had taken down the enemy’s commander in one round.
Meng Jun hung up the phone, his face pale.
After thinking it over, he reported the matter to his superior.
"Boss, I was really careful, I even went directly to the person in charge for the collection vouchers, I don’t know how it happened, but Yu Jingting knows about it."
Fan Huang was reviewing documents, his hand merely pausing slightly at these words, his head not lifted, but Meng Jun knew, he was definitely listening.
The boss doesn’t speak fast, and his reaction speed could even be said to be slow.
But as long as it’s word from the boss’s mouth, every word is heavy.
"I’ll investigate it now."
Meng Jun was nervous, wondering if this would be a stain on his professional career.
He really did not expect that Suizi and her husband, both in their early twenties, could track him down.
What’s more frightening is that Meng Jun still doesn’t know if only Yu Jingting is aware of this or if Suizi has figured it out too.
He knew nothing about that young married couple.
"No need to investigate, she knows."
Fan Huang systematically marked the document, as if Suizi’s affair to him was irrelevant, not something he focused on, just a casual mention.
"Did the principal and his wife betray me?" Meng Jun still doesn’t know why his cover was blown.
Fan Huang no longer spoke, the only sound in the office being that of the pen scratching paper.
Meng Jun stood with his hands hanging, his heart in turmoil, waiting for the boss’s next command.
After a while, Fan Huang closed the file.
"Boss, how do you think we should handle the follow-up?" Meng Jun carefully speculated.
"There’s no need to handle it, just wait for the registered mail."
"What... registered mail?" Meng Jun was puzzled.
Fan Huang didn’t answer him, just looking at him meaningfully.
"Young Meng, how long have you been with me?"
"Uh, three years."
"Three years huh... so why are you still so obtuse?" Fan Huang picked up his tea cup and gently blew on it a few times, " You still don’t have the insight of a pair of twenty-year-olds."
Meng Jun was so frightened that he didn’t dare to breathe a word, whenever it involved Suizi and her husband, he felt helpless to fathom the boss’s mind.
"Perhaps it’s because Director Chen has better genes? Boss, you know that my ancestors were all scholars, and their studies made them foolish."
Fan Huang’s mouth curled up, finishing his tea in one gulp.
Lijun has taught Suizi exceptionally well, surpassing his imagination, having this ability at only twenty.
He was really looking forward to what other surprises this girl would give him in the future.
Meanwhile, at the old Yu family...
Wang Cuihua was patting her chest.
"Oh my goodness, I can’t take it anymore! Jiaojiao, fetch your mother a scoop of cold water, I need to cool down!"
Suizi put the furniture collection vouchers into an envelope, planning to mail it back to Fan Huang.
"Suizi, tell your mother, what on earth are you thinking? So much furniture, are you just going to say no and that’s it?" After gulping down a scoop of cold water, Wang Cuihua still felt a burning sensation in her heart.
"No achievements, no rewards. I don’t even know who he is, I have no reason to accept his furniture." Suizi was just about to seal the letter and then thought that something was missing. She asked Jiaojiao to bring her brush and paper.
She spread them out on the table and started to write.
It’s a long poem, "Zi Wu Ye Ti" by Bai Juyi.
Jiaojiao peered over and stared for quite a while, until her face scrunched up like a bun.
"Sister-in-law, what did you write?"
Jiaojiao felt all her recent study of poetry and literature was in vain. Not only could she not understand the poem Suizi wrote, but she also did not recognize many of the characters.
"Little brat! I told you to study properly, but you refused. Now you regret it, don’t you?" Yu Jingting walked by holding his maiden, grabbed her chubby little hand and smacked Jiaojiao on the head with it.
"Luoluo, study hard when you grow up, or you will end up like your aunt, illiterate."
Jiaojiao was furious and pointed at him, hopping mad.
"Then you read it! Explain to me what it means!"
Yu Jingting stretched his neck and glanced at the letter.
"Oh, Bobo is awake. I’m too busy; I have no time for this."
"You don’t understand, do you?" Jiaojiao felt satisfied.
Her smug older brother ran away whenever he couldn’t understand something, despising him!
"Ha, there’s nothing incomprehensible about it. Your sister-in-law is definitely being sarcastic here. These cultured people always have the most elaborate ways to insult others."
Suizi blew on the ink on the paper, admired her beautiful handwriting, and explained the meaning of the poem to Jiaojiao.
"This poem talks about a ziwu bird losing its mother and crying in grief."
"Huh? Bro! Weren’t you saying my sister-in-law was subtly insulting someone?"
Yu Jingting left Jiaojiao with his retreating figure and a provoking remark:
"Little girl, you know nothing about your sister-in-law’s cunning tricks."
Jiaojiao’s mouth formed an ’o’. She pulled on Suizi’s arm and shook it.
"Sister-in-law, he said you’re cunning! Quick, teach him a lesson!"
Suizi remained silent with a smile, leaving Jiaojiao clueless. Why was her sister-in-law so generous?
There was only one answer, Yu Jingting was right.
The poem, the first half depicting the bird’s grief at losing its mother and the second half satirizing humans who do not mourn the loss of their mothers as being worse than beasts.
This poem would be fine for the average person, but for Fan Huang, it was full of mockery.
Everyone knows why Fan Huang tries to please Suizi.
Suizi was using the poem to tell him she had only one mother and planned to fulfill her filial duties till the end. Pleasing her would not help him at all, because she only cared about Chen Lijun’s feelings. So instead of wasting time on her, he would be better off trying to convince Chen Lijun.
Moreover, it subtly mocked Fan Huang. Since he chose to be a foolishly filial member of the Fan family, refusing to give up his power and wealth, he shouldn’t expect to gain anything from her, including affection.
No matter how many gifts he gives, in Suizi’s mind, he is no better than the beast in the poem.
Wang Cuihua watched as Suizi put the letter and the furniture voucher into an envelope and sealed it.
"Huh? You’re only mailing the furniture voucher back, what about the pearls—?"
"There’s no direct evidence that he sent those, and they are quite valuable. I need to be sure they’re from him. I’ll consider returning them when we meet."
Suizi was careful with her words.
She only caught the evidence of the furniture voucher, but she had no direct evidence that the big yellow fish and the pearl were from Fan Huang.
If she were to return them, then it would be when they meet face to face.
Whether Fan Huang will dare to see her in the future, that’s another story.
Wang Cuihua was confused. Just then, Yu Jingting came over with the baby for feeding, so she asked her son.
"What is Suizi really trying to say?"
"She wants to keep the gifts without feeling guilty." Yu Jingting translated it for her.
He did have some understanding of these "suizi’s words" of the literati.
Wang Cuihua let go of her hand from her heart and broke into a radiant smile. If that’s the case, she felt much better.
