Yu Shuilian looked at Suizi not as one would look at a person, but more like looking at a piece of merchandise.

Suizi felt something off.

Yu Jingting was not at home. If he were, she could have shared her thoughts with him and expand her ideas.

Now she had to ponder all by herself.

Suizi was mulling over Yu Shuilian’s affairs, and she fell asleep leaning against the headboard in a daze.

In a hazy moment, she dreamt that Jiaojiao was missing, and no one could find her even after a thorough search. Wang Cuihua was sitting on the ground, weeping loudly until her voice was hoarse.

Suizi sat up right away, her forehead covered in sweat.

Her heart was pounding incredibly fast. She had just woken up and couldn’t distinguish the dream from the reality. She looked out the window, and it was pitch-dark outside.

Suizi slipped her feet into her slippers. She needed to see Jiaojiao for reassurance.

Wang Cuihua was rubbing the sheets in a large washing tub.

"Mom, where’s Jiaojiao?" Suizi asked.

"Her homeroom teacher needed help organizing his storage, so I sent her to help."

Jiaojiao’s homeroom teacher lived in the same block, just a 2 to 3-minute walk away. Wang Cuihua was always helpful, willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.

The dream had left Suizi feeling unsettled, and she wanted to see Jiaojiao right now.

After telling Wang Cuihua, she headed out. The two kids in her belly stirred at just the right time. Suizi stopped at the door and touched her belly.

It wouldn’t be right to leave empty-handed.

She picked up an axe lying on one side, quickly tucked it into her waistband, and covered it with her clothes. Feeling reassured, she headed out.

Wang Cuihua looked up just in time to see Suizi tucking away the axe.

She hadn’t seen Jiaojiao on her way here.

Her mind was filled with images of Jiaojiao being snatched by a human trafficker. She didn’t even have time to discuss further with the teacher, turned around and hurried off, picking up speed.

Jiaojiao hadn’t returned home so she might have gone to the convenience store to buy candy.

The convenience store was down the street, at the end of the road around the corner.

Just as Suizi was about to turn the corner, she was gripped by a pair of arms.

Without thinking, she swung the axe.

"Holy shit!" Yu Jingting narrowly escaped.

What was going on?!

He had only been away from home for a few days, and this was how his wife welcomed him?!

" Jingting!" Upon recognizing her husband, Suizi dropped the axe to the ground. Her lips quivered, and tears started pouring down her face.

"Did I do something to upset you?" Yu Jingting hugged her. This welcome ritual seemed a little too much.

"Jiaojiao! I need to find Jiaojiao!" Suizi shoved him away, remembering the dream again.

Just as Wang Cuihua caught up with them, both mother and daughter-in-law asked Suizi what was going on.

"I dreamed that Jiaojiao was taken by a human trafficker."

"How can you take a dream so seriously?" Wang Cuihua laughed out loud, "I keep dreaming that my late husband is still alive."

He IS still alive! Suizi roared inside.

"My wife is pregnant, so it’s normal for her to overthink. Besides, it’s getting late. Once we find Jiaojiao and get back home, everything will be alright." Yu Jingting had hurried back as soon as his work was done just to see his wife sooner. He didn’t want to delay even a single night.

Yu Jingting and his mother followed Suizi along the way until they happened to see Jiaojiao bouncing out of a small shop with a picture book in her hands.

Only then did Suizi let out a whole breath, while Wang Cuihua gave her a light pat with a smile.

"Aren’t you relieved now? Haven’t people always said that dreams can’t be taken seriously? Our security has been so good these past few years, where could a child kidnapper come from?"

Suizi bashfully smiled at her mother-in-law. It was her who overreacted.

"Brother!" Jiaojiao caught sight of Yu Jingting, then flung her arms open and ran towards him. She had missed her brother after not having seen him for a few days.

The tender sibling moments lasted barely three seconds, before they reverted to their normal teasings of each other.

"Little girl, come over here, let me see if you’ve gained weight," Yu Jingting lifted her with one hand, his face filled with disdain.

"You’ve gotten fatter. You’ve been pestering your sister-in-law for yummy food again, haven’t you?"

"Look who’s talking! How come your face is as black as coal? Sister-in-law, don’t share a blanket with him tonight, he is too filthy."

The village didn’t have a place for bathing. Yu Jingting had indeed gotten quite dirty after a few days of farm work.

"Jingting, where is your tractor?" Suizi asked.

"It had some minor issues, so I left it at the Repair Factory. I’ll fetch it back tomorrow."

While the family was walking home with laughter and chatter, Suizi felt as though there were a pair of eyes on them from behind.

She turned around with suspicion.

In the dark narrow alley, there was nothing out of the ordinary.

"What’s wrong?" Yu Jingting asked.

"Nothing, I guess I got spooked by the dream."

"Don’t worry, I’ll burn some newspapers for you to help calm your nerves when we get back."

"Stop it, will you?! Last time you burned newspapers to exorcise spirits, you burned my hair!" Her hair still hadn’t fully regrown.

After the family walked off into the distance, a figure stepped out from the depth of the alley, his face filled with regret.

"I was so close to snatching that little girl. She’s so pretty, she could’ve been sold for a good price... "

Not having seen Yu Jingting for several days, he was welcomed back warmly by his whole family.

Not only did his wife personally cook a delicious bowl of noodles for him, but his sister also followed him around like a little tail, which greatly satisfied his vanity.

However, his joyful return was short-lived. After enjoying a moment in the spotlight and a meal, he was then disdainfully kicked out by these women to take a bath at the bathhouse.

Even though the mother and daughter-in-law brushed off the dream with laughs then, it did not take long for the laughter to fade away.

Tomorrow is Labor Day and Suizi plans to take the family for a nice outing.

While lying in bed, she and her husband discussed the idea of taking mother-in-law and the little sister-in-law to the park.

Despite living in the city for so long, Wang Cuihua had not yet had the chance to stroll around. This holiday could be a good opportunity for the entire family to relax and enjoy.
