I am chasing a rough man in the 80s -
Chapter 180: Turning a Bad Thing into a Good Thing
Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Turning a Bad Thing into a Good Thing
"Ah!" Suizi cried out, clutching her belly.
That cry worked wonders.
Yu Jingting withdrew his hand and rushed to her side, asking anxiously:
"What’s wrong?"
"I might be having Fetal Qi, I need to go to the maternity hospital for a check!" Suizi replied, clutching her belly.
Actually, nothing was really wrong.
But if she didn’t say this, Yu Jingting would toss these men into the hospital.
The workers caused the incident were at fault to some extent, but having them hospitalized would be a bit too much.
Moreover, she and Yu Jingting were in the right now, but injuring others would only serve to negate that valid argument.
Why not use this opportunity to go to the hospital for a pregnancy check-up?
Suizi had been wanting to go for a check-up and check on her baby’s heartbeat.
In this time and age, pregnancy check-ups were much simpler than in the future; they only checked the baby’s heartbeat after four months. Suizi was just over three months pregnant, it was not yet time.
Suizi, always a timid girl, thought too much. The fear from not being able to keep the baby in her previous life haunted her present, making her overly cautious.
She was always afraid the baby was not developing well. This check-up was an opportunity to ease multiple fears at once.
Hearing about her Fetal Qi, Yu Jingting abandoned the fight and carried her out immediately.
The mall manager also followed behind. Hurting a pregnant woman was a serious matter.
The maternity hospital was nearby. The mall staff registered for them, constantly apologizing to Suizi and Yu Jingting.
If Suizi was to miscarry due to this incident, the mall would not be able to shoulder the responsibility.
Seeing how forceful Yu Jingting was, the manager could almost envision him pouring gasoline and setting fire to the mall.
Who wouldn’t be scared when dealing with such a ruthless man!
Suizi was lying on a clinical bed, watching Yu Jingting’s tense brow tightly knotted together. She felt sorry for him.
She wanted to find a chance to tell him that she was faking it, but the mall staff were so close, she didn’t get a chance.
The lack of sophisticated equipment for listening to a baby’s heartbeat like in the future meant that the hospital was using a wooden fetal heart rate monitor. A young physician was moving it back and forth over Suizi’s belly.
While listening, he kept uttering "Hmm."
Suizi was not worried at first, but seeing the physician’s behaviour made her anxious.
"Doctor, how’s my wife?!" Yu Jingting was more anxious than Suizi.
"I can’t hear well."
"Damn! What do you mean?" Yu Jingting was about to explode
Suizi’s vision darkened, her hands trembling from fear.
Could it be...there’s no fetal heartbeat?!
Arrested development of the fetus, miscarriage...
This terrifying thought almost made Suizi forget to breathe.
"Don’t worry, I’ll call the director over. I’ve just graduated and don’t have much experience..."
"You dare to call yourself a doctor without experience?!" Yu Jingting cursed him outright, if not for Suizi’s timely intervention, he would have rushed over to grab the doctor by the collar.
The young doctor was so scared that he ran away without wasting a second.
The mall manager, a man in his forties, retreated in fear and shivered by the window.
Yu Jingting’s rage startled everyone.
Except Suizi.
Suizi was also scared but not because of Yu Jingting’s rage. She was worried about the baby in her belly.
"Jingting, I am scared ..." Suizi said, crying.
"Don’t be scared! I’m here!" Yu Jingting held her, trying to soothe her, his mind filled with thoughts.
If anything happened to his wife, he would set fire to the mall first, and then throw those bastards who had frightened his wife into the river to feed the fish.
The young doctor quickly got the director, a seasoned professional who used a goose-shaped fetal heart monitor, which gave a clearer sound than the wooden one.
Yu Jingting and Suizi endured a long two minutes.
With the stethoscope over his head and the monitor in hand, the director listened carefully.
Yu Jingting was holding Suizi’s hand, and between their palms was a cold, damp sweat, it was hard to tell whose sweat it was.
"Go and get an ultrasound." The director instructed Suizi after he removed the stethoscope.
"Is, is there a heartbeat?" Suizi was so scared she stammered.
"Calm down, the baby is fine."
"If it’s fine, then why the need for an ultrasound?" Yu Jingting asked, his fierce gaze making the young doctor retreat two steps.
The experienced director was unfazed and maintained his calm authority.
"An ultrasound would help confirm my guess, family member, you should calm down."
Right now all Yu Jingting was thinking about was Suizi. Whatever the doctor asked him to do, he did, picking up Suizi and carrying her all the way to the ultrasound room, despite all the staring eyes.
They asked him to leave, but he didn’t budge. When they tried to chase him, he just glared back.
The examiner didn’t dare to offend such a person, and simply let him stay.
It was Yu Jingting’s first time seeing an ultrasound. He had no idea what it could reveal, but as soon as the examination was over, he couldn’t wait to inquire.
"How is it?"
"It’s too small to tell the gender."
"Who the hell asked about the gender?! I’m asking about my wife, how is the baby in her belly?"
"What’s all the shouting about?" The director walked in, going straight to the frightened examiner.
"Is it twins?"
The examiner shakily handed over the handwritten examination report and could only nod, unable to speak.
The director was satisfied.
"It seems I wasn’t mistaken, there are two heartbeats."
"What do you mean? Does my child have two hearts?" Yu Jingting was confused, but he felt that from the director’s current expression, it didn’t seem to be a bad thing.
"Sir, your wife is pregnant with twins, congratulations."
"Huh?" Tears instantly disappeared from Suizi’s eyes, and she sat up abruptly.
She and Yu Jingting exchanged glances, both of them utterly perplexed.
After experiencing the horror of a moment ago, now hearing the doctor’s words felt like they were in a dream.
Yu Jingting, usually quick with responses, was speechless.
Suizi, always a split-second slower, was completely frozen.
"Sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish the heartbeat of twins. An inexperienced doctor wouldn’t find it, but I suspected it was twins the moment I heard it."
"Why didn’t you tell him just now?" The examiner asked, feeling wronged. She thought this family member was about to kill her!
The director gave her a mysterious look, thinking: You are scared, but am I not?!
This man was so fierce. If I had told him it was twins earlier, wouldn’t he have destroyed the hospital?
"My baby is fine?" Suizi asked carefully, holding her breath.
"Yes, your babies are fine. I will take your blood pressure in a bit, if everything is okay, go home and rest well - young man, the next time you accompany your wife for pregnancy check-ups, try not to get so excited."
"Yes, yes, thank you for your hard work." Yu Jingting mechanically responded, his limbs stiffening with shock.
After experiencing the great sadness, then hearing such good news, Suizi’s mood skyrocketed.
Twins...
There were actually two little ones living inside her. It was simply unbelievable.
After rejoicing for a bit, she saw Yu Jingting standing like a piece of wood. Suizi became anxious again.
When did his walk become so uncoordinated? Was it due to the shock?!
Was he happy or not?
Was he thinking that raising two babies at the same time would be too stressful?
Suizi was lost in her thoughts.
Then, she saw him smile, radiantly.
