Mother Li was taken hostage by Suizi and was led out of the house.

All the way there, Mother Li had tried pleading and reasoning with Suizi.

Suizi ignored her, only tightening her grip on her hostage whenever Mother Li attempted to escape. She used the icy chill of her gun to intimidate Mother Li.

Mother Li had hoped to encounter someone along the way, someone who could help her to subdue Suizi.

Suizi walked behind her. Mother Li could feel her fatigue as her grip on the gun weakened several times.

The gun wasn’t extremely heavy, but it wasn’t light either, especially for Suizi who was heavily pregnant. Even holding it for a short amount of time was enough to tire her arm.

"Suizi, you’re going to be a mother yourself. Shouldn’t you do some good for your unborn child? I’m old. Aren’t you scared of retribution for how you’re treating me?"

"If the world’s good and evil depended on karmic retribution, your son would be suffering in the eighteen layers of hell right now."

Suizi responded indifferently, her cold voice seeming to come from a different world altogether.

"Pointing the gun at others is a wrong thing to do, but there is no one left in your household," Yu Jingting responded instinctively, not even bothering to think properly.

He didn’t bother to listen to Mother Li’s excuses, his sharp eyes resting on the tear stains on Suizi’s face.

"What happened?"

"Li Youcai kidnapped Jiaojiao and threatened me, asking me to go up the mountain alone."

Suizi was held by Jingting, her previous agitation slowly fading away. Leaning against him, she regained some rationality, and her voice became much softer.

"It’s got nothing to do with me –" Mother Li’s words were cut short by a chokehold from Yu Jingting.

"See that? My wife never wanted to harm you from the beginning. It must’ve been your offensive words that enraged her."

Yu Jingting usually teased Suizi, sometimes playfully rough, and would even give her a nibble when in a jolly mood, but he dared not provoke Suizi, because when she was truly angry and rendered speechless, she would start fighting.
