Chapter 65: Chapter 63: Not for Eating_1

The fishing rod wrapped around the black spear pierced through the vampire’s chest, and when it reached the heart, Zheng Yichen felt a subtle feedback as if piercing a water balloon; the bubble burst, and blood gushed from the wound.

Just as with the previous vampire, Zheng Yichen directly extracted one-tenth of the blood, feeling somewhat regretful; he really wanted to drain it all.

Stretching his neck, Zheng Yichen looked at the others; some had left behind a vampire, some had only injured the swift-moving monsters, while also sustaining some injuries themselves.

These vampires weren’t so easy to deal with; their speed was too fast. Zheng Yichen, relying on the strength of his bulletproof vest, was unharmed, but it was different for the Hunter-Demons; their armor could reduce some damage, but the vampire’s sharp claws could still penetrate it.

This was under the premise that Zheng Yichen was here. Without Zheng Yichen, they would’ve faced even more vampire attacks at once.

This wasn’t a game; taking hits meant losing blood, and facing so many vampire attacks, one could easily lose their life with a moment’s inattention.

Just now, each of them faced attacks from at least three vampires, and that wasn’t all the vampires attacking together.

So far, fewer than five vampires had been killed in this wave.

Zheng Yichen glanced at the wound. Where he was wounded felt as if poisoned, with a strong burning sensation, and the injured spot had started to swell slightly.

The injuries of the Hunter-Demons were more serious than Zheng Yichen’s. While his injury was swelling, theirs were severely swollen. Apart from the difference in the severity of the swelling, what was common was that all their wounds were bleeding profusely.

"Catch!" Raymond threw a medicinal pill to Zheng Yichen. As the pill flew through the air, a vampire suddenly leaped out, attempting to intercept it, but was immediately hit by a Crossbow Arrow connected to a sturdy rope, which had barbs on it.

The hit vampire screamed, trying to retreat to the cover of the trees, but the Crossbow Arrow and the sturdy rope hindered its escape.

Raymond yanked the rope with a grim smile on his face, dragging the vampire back, while Zheng Yichen, holding the medicinal pill, sank into thought, "Mom said not to carelessly eat things given by others..."

Zheng Yichen took out a can of hemostatic spray from his waist pack and sprayed it on the wound on his arm. The blood flow from the wound clotted, proving the efficacy of Hazy City’s hemostatic spray.

The other Hunter-Demons crushed the medicinal pill in their hands and smeared the filling paste inside on their wounds. Even though blood was still flowing, the swelling of the wounds eased.

"..." So it wasn’t meant to be eaten.

The battle continued. The vampire’s wave of attacks had not achieved the desired effect, but instead, several of their kind had perished. The fate of the vampire that Raymond shot with the Crossbow Arrow was sealed once it was pulled back.

It was promptly beheaded by Raymond with a single stroke. These creatures had strong Life Force but still couldn’t survive without a head.

Afterward, the frequency of the vampires’ attacks decreased. Howling sounds began to fill the forest. At first, the noise wasn’t much of a problem, but as the sounds continued, the howling gradually became irritating.

Zheng Yichen himself didn’t feel much, but it was different for the most seriously injured Hunter-Demon in the team. His eyes, red with rage, charged toward another Hunter-Demon on guard against vampires. He grabbed a pouch on his body and yanked it hard, setting off an explosion that engulfed both Hunter-Demons.

The one holding the pouch was blown to pieces on the spot, while the other was severely injured by the close-range blast.

The explosives of this era were not so powerful, but a close-range explosion was still quite deadly.

John, witnessing the scene, immediately flew into a rage. He took a pouch from his waist and threw it at his feet. As the built-in string inside the pouch snapped, the contents activated, releasing a smoke that was not dense but quite pungent.

Sounds of wooing mixed with a few uncontrollable coughs rose from the woods.

Raymond, holding a short crossbow, raised his hand and shot at the treetop. The rope attached to the Crossbow Arrow instantly tightened, pulling down a vampire hidden in the trees, whose heart Raymond split open with one strike.

The wooing sounds completely quieted down.

"Did those vampires run away?" Zheng Yichen glanced at the Hunter-Demons, one dead and one severely wounded. He gained a new understanding of the vampires’ spells, which, although somewhat ordinary and without any flashy effects, were undeniably effective!

"No, they’re just hiding," Raymond shook his head. Those vampires were very crafty. With one dead and one severely wounded on their side, the vampires had already gained a significant advantage. The rest would just continue to look for opportunities to influence them.

Dealing with vampires was particularly challenging because of their unique vision, allowing them to maintain the upper hand in various environments. Coupled with the influence of vile spells unique to vampires, they were confident they could continue to pick them off, even if it meant losing some of their own.

"Once the effect of the smoke bomb wears off, the vampires will make their move again." Saying this, Raymond hesitated briefly before taking out a bottle, "Everyone, get ready. It’s going to be a tough fight."

As he spoke, he smashed the bottle in his hand, and a faint smell of blood spread out. The previously silent and invisible vampires, as though triggered, emerged with ferocious and crazed expressions, furiously attacking Zheng Yichen and his companions.

There were about twenty in number. It was safe to say that all nearby vampires had been drawn out.

Zheng Yichen immediately grabbed the weapon left by the dead Hunter-Demon, a longsword. Holding the sword with one hand and an unextended fishing rod with the other, he fought against the frenzied vampires, blocking simply and fiercely exchanging blows.

Zheng Yichen was not versed in advanced combat techniques. He blocked what he could and endured what he couldn’t. Fortunately, they had banded together, and although the vampires’ attacks were frenzied, they still covered for each other.

Vampires had strong regenerative abilities and not many deadly weak points, but piercing their hearts meant they were no longer a threat.

In this fight, Zheng Yichen felt his body burning with pain from scratches. A vampire had bitten onto his arm. Zheng Yichen dropped the longsword, gripped the vampire’s neck with his arm, and with a twist, tore off its head.

The still-twitching body was kicked away as he smashed the head onto another vampire. The fishing rod then pierced through the vampire’s heart.

In the brief and intense fight, the number of vampires was reduced to less than five, but all the Hunter-Demons had sustained injuries.
