Chapter 747: Mother, save me!

She had lived for fifty years and of those fifty, she had spent the last five as a Daemon, crossing the threshold between the 7th Lock and the 8th Lock in a display that caused many to regard her as a worthy successor to her mother’s bloodline.

From then until now, she had never known defeat and even now, as she lay on the ground with a missing arm, scars all over her body and a bleeding wound at the center of her chest, Sayda did not wish to know it.

"How dare you!" She lashed out with pure Authority and though it was not at the level where she would completely dominate the aether to prevent anyone else from being able to utilize it due to her injury, it was definitely enough to send everyone around her flying, including Alex.

For a moment, even the perpetual snowstorm ceased, revealing the others that were hidden in it, all of whom were covered by Arwen’s flames.

Sayda clenched her jaw as she got back on her feet, clearly enraged by what she considered as the utter disrespect.

She didn’t bother with words at that moment, her only desire being to devour everyone at that moment.

And so, she once again transformed into her Celestial Form and parted the mouth that ran from her torso to the end of her stomach.

Alex immediately snapped, causing a white hole to appear, however before it could explode, she devoured it and the devouring power only grew, seeking to swallow up even reality as well.

However, just then, there was a golden glow and Elena moved everyone into a separate dimension while Sayda continued to devour everything.

Of course, even this separate dimension was not safe as Sayda’s devouring swallowed the lines that existed between the two dimensions.

"She’s pissed." Ana breathed out while struggling to calm herself, quite aware of how close she was to having everything taken away from her.

"What now?" Nadia asked, also similarly frightened only for Elena to cry out.

"I can’t hold out for much longer!"

As it was, the dimensional barriers she’d set up were already revealing signs of breakage.

"Let me handle it." Ulysses suggested.

"Ulysses no!" Ana immediately said only for him to respond.

"Don’t worry, I’ll be fine." Then he added, "And even if I’m not, I trust that you’ll be able to bring me back."

He had a smile on his face as he spoke, even though deep down, he was absolutely terrified of what he was about to do.

Everyone glanced at him and after a moment of silence, they nodded in agreement.

Alex grabbed Ulysses and immediately tossed him outside the barrier with Elena’s help before snapping to conjure Eternal Night which served as a second layer of protection.

As for Ulysses, he floated hopelessly towards Sayda and was devoured in an instant.

Clearly unsatisfied, Sayda increased the intensity of her devouring, which began to affect Twilight itself as numerous cracks began to appear on the fortress walls.

In that moment, all she saw was red and all she wished to do was devour the bastards that dared to make her feel pain.

Nothing else mattered, nothing at all... ba-dump.

The next instant, she stopped devouring as she felt something growing within her like a tumor which made no sense.

Her stomach was infinite which meant in theory, it could never be filled up.

Even if she were to devour the entirety of Eventide, she would still not be filled up, which meant that whatever was growing within her was abnormal.

Naturally, she was quick to discover the offending party who turned out to be Ulysses.

The insane bastard had broken Ana’s temporal seal over the Everlasting.

Though the entity was currently unresponsive due to having its immortality taken away, it still served as a connection between Ulysses and the Lord of Flesh and Blood, which in short form meant that, Ulysses could partially manifest the corruption of the First Class Otherworldly with the corresponding Authority, of course at the risk of losing his sanity and turning into a glob of bloody flesh.

Sayda screamed in terror, well aware of what would follow should she not take care of the insane man she’s accidentally devoured.

Without hesitation, she tried to spit him out but Ulysses had no intention of leaving so quickly.

Instead of just a glob of flesh, he had opted for a much better alternative, a tree and a tree had roots and currently, those roots had dug deep into Sayda’s seemingly bottomless stomach, corrupting her from the inside out.

Immediately, the Daemon was swept up by whispers from the Abyss, unintelligible ravings that came directly from the Lord of Flesh and Blood, which drove her to the brink of insanity in mere seconds.

However, she did not plan on losing to the madness of the Abyss as she went ahead to rip out the portion of her stomach that Ulysses had taken root in before tossing it out in a desperate act to save herself.

Then, she turned to flee, not even waiting to see the end of Ulysses and the others.

In that moment, her desire for self preservation was at the forefront and only when she was certain of survival would she dare to make any further moves.

Alas, of those that came for her, none wished to let her get away and so, they all acted at the same time.

Nadia denied the phenomenon of weakness amongst members of Constellations while Elena conjured a dimension around Sayda which was swiftly broken through and Ana slowed her time down for as long as she could, allowing Alex to rush in with a snap and without mercy, behead Sayda.

A spring of liquid aether spurted out of her now headless body before it dropped to its knees and collapsed to the ground with a thud while Sayda’s head rolled to a stop a few meters away from the fortress gates.

Surprisingly, despite losing her head, Sayda remained alive and her eyes looked towards the sky as her lips parted, allowing her to cry out.

Mother, save me!
