Chapter 698: Just trust me

The appearance of the black hole caught all those who saw it off guard, but just as quickly as it appeared, it disappeared, leaving all perplexed at what had caused such a strange phenomenon.

Meanwhile, Alex stood somewhere far away, his expression revealing his displeasure to once again see his Ability disrupted before it could make a difference.

"Are you blind?" Ana couldn’t help but ask while pointing at the body of the many-faced fallacy, which was mostly covered in Quillion.

The presence of the Quillion, though weakening to the Fallacy, also ensured that no supernatural attacks would work against it.

It was both a boon and an annoyance.

"Who said I planned to take it down with that?" Alex shot back though he couldn’t lie that a part of him wished that the singular attack would have put an end to the creature.

"Then what?" Ana asked with Arwen speaking up.

"Uhmm guys, it’s looking at us."

And indeed, the many-faced fallacy had its attention drawn toward them even as its central face was still pointed toward the Nysodosian wall.

"Do you think it will come?" Alex asked.

"Doubtful," Ana replied. "Unless I transform."

"It’s interested in you?"

"For some reason."

"It might have to do with why it’s like the amalgamation of several mutants." Nadia chipped in from the side.

The attention of the many-faced fallacy soon shifted from them, uninterested in their presence as it moved to climb the Nysodosian wall, causing cracks to swiftly appear on the wall.

"What do we do?" Elena inquired before adding. "If it gets into the city, it would be difficult to take it down."

Taking a moment to ponder, Alex spoke up. "Ana, can you weave while transformed?"

"I wouldn’t have thumbs." Ana casually replied while gesturing with her thumbs, earning a pointed look from everyone present.

"Ugh, no." She said, rolling her eyes as she did so.

"Alright then," Alex said as he took a step forward. "Nadia, deny the presence of bad luck in what we are about to do."

"What?"

"Elena, Victoria, I need the blueprint for a maze."

"Uhmm..."

"Ana, transform."

"What about me?" Arwen asked.

"Can your flames affect Quillion?"

"...No."

"Then you’ll step aside for now," Alex remarked before proceeding to address the others. "Ladies, let us begin."

Exchanging looks with one another, they made their move.

Ana swiftly transformed, turning into a towering dragon as she took to the sky before proceeding to unleash a breath towards the many-faced fallacy.

Surprisingly, the flames were not extinguished, causing Alex to recall that a dragon’s breath wasn’t a supernatural phenomenon... it was simply that, a breath.

"Keep doing that!" Alex exclaimed in excitement just as Nadia uttered a spell in deviltongue.

Denyen.

The next moment, a terrifying screech echoed across the valley as the Fallacy once again turned its attention towards them.

This time, it didn’t ignore them as it turned away from Nysodosia and let out another screech, charged at them, its attention focused entirely on Ana who didn’t let up on her breath for a moment.

"Done!" Elena and Victoria shouted at the same time, having replicated the blueprint of the maze owned by the Weaver they had killed in the Spirit World.

Taking a step forward, Alex snapped, and following the blueprint they formed, several walls forged of grey ice emerged, creating a maze that was comparable in size to Nysodosia.

The many-faced fallacy found itself trapped, but it did not seem to care as it continued to make its way toward Ana, charging right through the maze until it was at the center, only for Alex to give an order.

"Change back!"

Ana swiftly did as instructed while Alex snapped like a maniac, creating more ice walls while ensuring that they towered over the Fallacy by several meters.

But it didn’t stop there as he willed it to converge into a dome with several layers.

This only served to infuriate the Fallacy as it began to crash around like a bull in a china shop, destroying the ice walls with reckless abandon.

Meanwhile, the people of Nysodosia were taken by the sudden appearance of the ice structure that had somehow managed to trap the Fallacy.

As the earth trembled, a result of the Fallacy’s chaotic movements, they couldn’t help but wonder how much longer before the ice structure would fail and it would regain its freedom.

And so, the question arose, what then?

"Should we just leave it in there?" Ana couldn’t help but ask as she came to stand beside Alex.

"Don’t worry, I’m well aware that tiring it out is not a valid plan." Alex calmly replied.

Judging from the amount of Quillion on its body, he could guess that it had already gone through an incredible amount of cannon fire, yet it remained active.

"Then what?"

"We wait... for all the Quillion to be shaken off."

Ana frowned as she seemed to realize what he was hoping for. "But that’s the only thing allowing us to use our Abilities. If it recovers its Authority, the aether would be its to command."

"Just trust me," Alex said as he slowed down his breathing while perspiration covered his forehead.

Everyone was tense as the tremors seemed to serve as a countdown.

After almost three minutes, the tremors slowed before finally... they stopped.

"Is it over?" Arwen asked.

"No," Alex replied. "Ana, transform back."

After saying that, he proceeded to snap before taking to the skies.

Once he was sufficiently high enough, he willed the grey ice away, causing it to swiftly disintegrate into crystalline particles, revealing the state of the Fallacy.

Perhaps the most worrisome aspect of its appearance was the lack of Quillion on its body, all of which had been shaken off during its chaotic struggle within the maze.

Its body was filled with cuts of various sizes but none of it mattered as they swiftly healed.

Following that, it unleashed its Authority, taking over the aether and repelling all other Wills exerted on it... including Alex’s own.

Alex immediately began a free fall but he did not panic as the Fallacy charged for a transformed Ana, seeking to devour her.

Alex unleashed Nyx’s Authority, causing the Fallacy’s Authority to be repelled while also drawing its attention away from Ana.

A snap followed and then, a blinding white light emerged right above the Fallacy, ripping it in two.
