Chapter 694: So it’s dead!?

"Should we be worried?" Alex asked, feeling rather tense at the odd appearance of the newborn deity.

The Fixer scrutinized the unmoving entity for a bit before replying. "... I don’t think there’s a need."

"Why?"

"Even though it has a physical body, you must understand that the growth process of a deity reflects the concept of three which symbolizes completeness."

"Perhaps you can skip the mystical lecture and get straight to the point?" Alex suggested while still cautious, wondering why the Broken Saintess hadn’t made a move yet.

The Fixer let out a sigh. "The growth process of a deity is in three stages; first, it is born as a phantom which represents the pneuma. Then, it grows to become a Demigod, basically creating a Soma for its pneuma to inhabit. Then finally, it ascends, imprinting its Avatar on the Aether."

Alex paused, as he quickly understood what the Fixer was trying to explain.

"So you are saying that skipping the process of creating a pneuma before a Soma isn’t a bad thing?"

"It is, not just for us." The Fixer remarked. "Judging from the negative emotion it gave off, I am led to believe that a Devil aided its birth, forcing it to skip a fundamental level and in the process, shortening its lifespan."

"It won’t live for very long." Elena chipped in from the side with the Fixer nodding in agreement as he took a step forward.

"Give or take, seven days... or at least, that should have been how long it would last."

"Should?" Alex raised a brow.

"My attack has significantly reduced its lifespan."

Victoria muttered. "The explosion?"

"It was a weapon meant to significantly injure the Jester, a Demigod on the road to ascending. To a newborn deity, it would be enough to kill it instantly."

Alex pursed his lips as he glanced at the unmoving body of the Broken Saintess.

"So it’s dead."

"Not yet." The Fixer replied. "From what I can tell, it has a bit of life left in it though it’s insufficient to do anything."

"... Unbelievable." Alex breathed out as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"What now?" Elena asked as she shifted her attention to Alex. "You planned on using it, right?"

"We have to figure something else out," Alex replied, clearly pissed at the outcome.

He’d hoped to use the Broken Saintess as a weapon against Decad but now that plan was completely ruined.

Taking a deep breath, he glanced at Elena. "Head over to check on Ana then get back to the Abyss."

"Alright." Elena nodded, taking a step back before she asked. "Will you be alright?"

Alex nodded. "Don’t worry, I’ll figure something out."

"Alright then."

A moment later, Elena was gone with a golden flash announcing her exit.

"Summon the Witch of Fables." Alex suddenly said, catching Victoria off guard.

"I’ll work on summoning Vessina. Let’s hope that we can still make something of this."

"Understood."

As Victoria went about her task and Alex prepared to make use of the summoning circle she’d drawn, the Fixer came to sit beside him.

"Time is not on our side." He said, prompting a glare from Alex.

"If you have another way to get Excalibur back from Decad, speak up. If not, shut it."

With that, Alex returned to pulling up the specifics of the chantings needed to summon Vessina.

But then he paused as he heard someone else chanting it.

Looking up, it turned out to be the Fixer.

It didn’t take long before the aether began to ripple and two pathways began to form.

One led to the Spirit World, and the other to the Infernal Palace.

The Western wall of Nysodosia was on the brink of being breached when Elena arrived at Ana’s location above the clouds.

Below, the battle against the many-faced fallacy continued unabated.

"Uhmm..."

"You are back," Arwen said enthusiastically as she rushed to embrace Elena.

"What’s going on?" Elena asked.

"It’s a long story," Nadia replied, still focused on the situation below. "I think it’s getting tired."

"Let’s move," Ana suggested as she got to her feet with Nadia doing the same.

Elena blinked repeatedly, still unsure of what to make of the current situation.

"Any chance you could help us kill a Divine Fallacy?"

"What is..." Elena trailed off as though she had no knowledge of what a Divine Fallacy was; it took no less than two seconds for the corresponding knowledge to flood her mind, disorienting her for a moment.

"Are you alright?" Arwen asked with Elena nodding as she messaged her temples.

"Yes."

Taking a moment to regain herself, she intoned. "So, a Divine Fallacy?"

"Yes."

"Do you have a plan?"

"It’s mostly weakened so I believe with the right moves, we could finish it off."

Elena furrowed her brows. "Why don’t you just allow the people fighting it now to finish it off?"

"And compete with them for whatever is left after?"

"When did you guys become robbers?" Elena found herself compelled to ask.

Ana snorted. "When they decided to shoot cannonballs at us."

"... Can someone please explain to me what’s happening?"

"No time," Nadia said. "We have to make a move now."

Elena let out a sigh only to pause, a sudden thought coming to her at that moment.

"You said the entity down there is a Fallacy, right?"

"According to my astute observation," Ana replied.

"Ah." Elena nodded. "Give me a moment."

Before the ladies could ask why, Elena disappeared, leaving them stranded.

"Can everyone please calm down!?" Alex said as he stood between what was essentially a rock and a hard place.

On one end was the Witch of Fables, a Greater Spirit that ruled over the Fog regions of the Spirit World, and on the other end was Vessina, the Devil of Pride and ruler of the first floor of the Infernal Palace.

Both were in a faceoff, with their Authorities slamming against each other like bulls in a bullfight, causing not just the earth but the aether to tremble in response.

Perhaps it was not Alex’s brightest idea to summon both entities at the same time in the same location.
