Chapter 611: The Artisan’s plot

"Stand down." Alex calmly said as he turned to face Ana and Ulysses.

"But..."

"It’s over now, we are allies." Alex intoned, taking a moment to glance back at ’Khanna’ who confirmed the relationship with a casual nod.

"But still..."

"Nothing else matters apart from taking what we need and leaving. So let’s focus on that."

Ana and Ulysses exchanged looks before finally they withdrew their hostility.

"Now then, if you are done, it is paramount we leave quickly as time is of the essence." ’Khanna’ remarked while retrieving an empty vial which she then tossed toward Alex.

"Sure thing," Alex replied as he caught the vial. "Lead the way."

Nodding yet again, Khanna turned and waved her hand, causing the table behind her to part in two directions with the ground below doing the same as well, quickly revealing a set of spiraling stairs that led to somewhere below.

"Come with me."

Saying that, she made her way down with Alex following closely behind, along with Ana and Ulysses; together, the group descended the stairs.

Dhuhtia stared at the brass chains holding him down.

Even with Khanna weakened, they remained strong.

It would take several years before they would be weakened enough for him to tear through with his dwindling strength and there was no way to recover his strength to a reasonable level.

Khanna had made sure of it.

At this point, she was siphoning any worship directed at him, serving as both The Goddess of Automation and the God of Blacksmithing.

The hateful bitch!

His red eyes glowed brightly as he picked up the incomplete sword on the anvil before him.

Even though it was only fifty percent done, it was already radiating a power unlike any other.

The materials used were of the highest quality, ensuring that the end product would be even greater than what those fools in Salem paraded as a GodKiller.

Unfortunately, he would have to use it now else there would be no other way to do what he wished to do.

And so, he moved, using the bladed edge of the sword to strike down on the chains holding him hostage within his divine kingdom.

He struck with a vengeance unlike any other, using the years of captivity to fuel his rage.

At the height of it, he struck one last time and in response, the chains fell apart, freeing him at last.

But Dhuhtia felt no comfort.

No, he knew there was still much to be done.

He wouldn’t be satisfied with just running, not when the opportunity to deal a heavy blow to Khanna was before him.

With that thought, he wielded the incomplete GodKiller and began his journey, not toward Cinerath as he knew he was no match for Khanna even as she was wounded and in dire need of help.

But there was another, a different deity that would surely be able to wreak havoc if set loose.

And that deity was currently trapped underneath Iron’s Keep, sealed within an incomplete divine kingdom.

The journey to their destination was a short one, with ’Khanna’ distorting the distance needed to reach there, ensuring that they reached it rather quickly.

It was a large cave with the insides shrouded by ominous shadows.

At the entrance into the cave was a dessicated corpse placed upon a pedestal with a longsword in its embrace.

The corpse gave off an aura that immediately caused all supernatural effects to become obsolete in its presence while the blade radiated intense bloodlust, leaving one unable to concentrate as their senses were slowly eroded by madness.

"What is that?" Alex couldn’t help but ask, feeling rather apprehensive about the corpse.

"That was once the body of the most feared mortal man in Eventide. His power was great enough to fell cryptid rulers and threaten gods. It is because of him that the Goddess of Magic was able to win the war against the Harbinger. He is also the reason for her death. He possesses several titles. Dragon Slayer, Bane of Gods, Immortal King. An illustrious man indeed."

Following Khanna’s respectful explanation which was rather surprising considering she was talking about a mortal man, Ulysses intoned.

"I think I know who that is. You call him the Immortal King but most historians know him as the Mad King, Thaddeus Quraishi."

The aether seemed to react to the name as it trembled subtly, leaving everyone slightly tense.

"There is a reason I didn’t say his name, young man. It would be best if you don’t say it as well." ’Khanna’ warned with Ulysses chuckling awkwardly.

"My bad."

Letting out a sigh, Alex intoned. "So we have to get past it?"

"Indeed. The key you possess is a talisman that allows you to enter the cave without the corpse reacting."

"I reckon you have tried to enter in the past." Alex intoned only to be met with a smile from ’Khanna’ that didn’t quite reach her eyes.

"Let us focus on the task at hand."

Nodding in agreement, Alex gestured for Ana and Ulysses to hold his hands before making his way toward the cave entrance.

’Khanna’ stayed back, her gaze focused on the unmoving corpse of the Immortal King.

"Aren’t you coming along?" Alex inquired just as they passed the corpse without issues.

’Khanna’ shook her head. "There’s no need. Retrieve the drop of water and we will part ways."

"Alright then, we should be back soon."

Saying that, Alex turned and continued into the cave, quickly getting swallowed by the darkness.

Letting out a sigh, Khanna walked back to the stairs and waited there.

It was a land rife with the corpses of several creatures ranging from cryptids to mutants to humans with a river of blood flowing unimpeded.

A foul smell lingered, causing even a deity to grimace in disgust.

At the center of this desolate landscape which served as a pseudo kingdom to a particular Demigod, Dhuhtia found who he was looking for.

A mighty six armed Asura that stood at over three feet with sickly blue skin was chained down with no chance of escape.
