Chapter 602: A troublesome bunch indeed
Chapter 602: A troublesome bunch indeed
Considering all that had happened, Alex was inclined to believe that he was being led by the nose by the ones Ulysses called the Three Ring Bazaar.
Of course, though he felt that his guess was spot on, it brought about a very important question.
Why did they go through such a convoluted method to get his help in fleeing the city?... Why did they rob him in the first place and most importantly, how did they find out about him to even conceive such a plan?
The questions continued to mount, leaving him with two options.
It was either he got to the bottom of the current situation or he let things continue the way he’d planned.
One promised to be a time-wasting venture, while the other, though dangerous, seemed quicker.
After much thought, he muttered. "We’ll let things be."
"But they stole from us," Ana grumbled with Alex replying.
"I know."
"So we’ll just let them go?"
Taking a deep breath, Alex replied. "No, but let’s leave the city first. We’ll figure out what to do next."
"Are you sure about this?"
"No." Alex calmly replied, quite aware that he was taking a huge gamble with his decision.
Just then, Eucleides raised his head, meeting his gaze for a moment before flashing a respectful smile.
"Go after the girl." Alex calmly said, addressing Ulysses. "Find out what you can."
"Alright then."

Ulysses took steady steps forward, his gaze zeroed on the back of the woman he felt connected to.
He had followed her as she took food supplies to the storage within the Skyrunner.
Seemingly noticing his presence, she froze before slowly turning to regard him.
"Who are you?" Ulysses asked.
The girl stayed silent prompting Ulysses to ask again.
"Who are you?"
She slowly reached for her lips and then touched her ear, signaling that she could neither hear nor speak.
Ulysses went silent and for a moment, felt bad for the young lady.
Letting out a sigh, he intoned. "I’m sorry for bothering you."
Then he turned to leave only to pause after taking a few steps.
Why did he leave?... He knew sign language so he could have used that to communicate.
Immediately, he had a premonition, causing him to glance back, but the girl was already gone.
Blinking in confusion, he struggled to come to terms with what just happened.

Once the Skyrunner was loaded up, it was easy for Eucleides to start up its steam core, allowing it to slowly rise into the air.
At the same time, Alex snapped, utilizing Nightwalker on a larger scale encompassing the entire ship.
And so, they left the ironworks and slowly made their way toward the city walls, which were guarded by the City Watch, the most respected law enforcement division within the city, second only to the Naval Fleet.
The ship continued to soar as he glided out of the city before finally, it had escaped the confines of Pheripolis, allowing Alex to catch the first glimpse of the wilderness, which took up a whopping sixty percent of land in Henos.
That night, the Skyrunner began its journey towards the Boundary.
***
Alex expected the Bazaar to pull something since they had long since escaped Pheripoli airspace but meeting an empty airship after two days of flight was not one of them.
"Where’s everyone?" Ana inquired in confusion before asking a more important question. "And how are we still in the air without a pilot?"
Ulysses replied while scrutinizing the helm. "It might have something to do with this."
As he spoke, he pointed at an inscription etched onto the wooden surface with a tiny piece of ceramic at its center.
"What is it?" Alex inquired as he approached.
"An enchantment. One very similar to the same one I created to protect our coins." Ana replied.
Letting out a sigh, Alex asked. "Are we still on course for the Boundary?"
"More or less," Ulysses replied.
"And how long is the enchantment going to last?"
"As long as we need if I’m being honest. The base material radiates divinity which means it comes from a divine being."
"Alright then, that’s all I need to know. Keep watch, the moment things start getting troublesome, we’ll have to find a way to keep the ship on course."
"Noted."
And so, Alex returned to his room, closing the door behind him before climbing into bed only to pause as he heard a familiar crunch.
Frowning, he moved again only to hear the same crunch.
Immediately, he pulled the bed cover only to find it filled with gold coins.
Completely confused at how this was possible, he paused as he noticed two notes written in Kantoj placed on the pile of coins.
One had the same enchantment that Ulysses had pointed out on the helm with a small ceramic piece while the other had a few words written on it.
Since he had already discarded the body he assumed before, he was unable to decipher the more, so he made his way back to the cockpit to find Ulysses, who was surprised to see him back again so soon.
"What does it say?" Alex inquired with Ulysses, perusing it for a moment before replying.
"Nice doing business with you. We take twenty percent so you can keep eighty. Look forward to meeting you again. Signed, Pierrot."
Scratching the back of his head, Alex remarked. "You were right."
"About?" Ulysses asked.
"The Three Ring Bazaar." Alex intoned with a resigned look on his face. "They are a troublesome bunch."
***
"They are heading to the Boundary. Don’t you think we could use them to sneak in?" A young lady, no older than 22 asked with a head full of brown hair.
She wore a veil obscuring most of her face, revealing a pair of beautiful brown eyes.
Eucleides replied. "Khanna is not so easily fooled. Don’t worry, let us trust in the Lord’s plan. All will work out in the end."
"If you say so, but is there a need to return the money?"
"Indeed." Eucleides intoned as he reached for his face and pulled it off, causing his form to dissipate like dust, leaving behind a flamboyantly dressed individual with a quarter mask on his face.
"Hmmph." The lady pouted causing ’Eucleides’ to chuckle.
"Oh come on, why so serious?"
