Chapter 586: Dimensional Foyer?
Saint Hadrian’s Basilica was in an uproar as the 13th Gate returned with appalling news.
Not only had they failed to subjugate the Dark Cloaked Devil, but they had also lost their leader, an illustrious Mystic that had served the Only One God piously.
But that wasn’t all as the 13th Gate brought along the frightening news that the Dark Cloaked Devil was being supported by not one but two Sword Saints of the Warrior Wheel along with a Vampire Monarch.
Having confirmed that the monster plaguing the northern cities was a Devil Wheel Mystic carrying out a trial, it was difficult to believe that the Family Heads of Zion would support her, considering the bad blood between the Warrior Wheel and the Devil Wheel.
Of course, though the priests and bishops present in the hallowed Basilica were shaken, Archbishop Benedict the Fifth remained unshakable as his expression remained thoughtful, pondering the reports of the 13th Gate.
"Did they not try to chase you?" Benedict inquired as the Keepers knelt before him in the main council hall of the Basilica.
"No, Gate Master Frederick ensured that they wouldn’t, giving up his life for our sake."
"I see, so that’s how it is," Benedict remarked as he stroked his chin.
"Your grace, I say we send out the other Gates along with the Kastarusian army. I don’t believe that two Saints would be able to face off against such a force." One of the bishops remarked, with several others agreeing with him.
Benedict shook his head, maintaining his calm as he replied. "Do you know about the War of the New Age, Boniface?"
"... Yes, your grace." The bishop, Boniface replied with his head down, realizing he had let his emotions get the better of him.
"And you are aware of how it ended?"
"Indeed. Our ancestors in the faith fought valiantly, hoping to liberate the people of Emet from the pagan cult that is the Order of Duality. Unfortunately, at the last moment, the heretics conjured a force so demonic that our people were forced to retreat."
"Indeed." Benedict nodded before adding. "And the force they summoned were in fact, Mystics of the Warrior Wheel."
The silence that followed was deafening as all present listened to the calm but authoritative voice of the Archbishop.
"Do you understand why I am saying this?... The Mystics of the Warrior Wheel are monstrosities that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Unfortunately, I did just that."
"Your grace, you couldn’t have known about them, please do not blame yourself." One of the Keepers remarked with Benedict shaking his head.
"No, my son, it is as I have said. The Devil Wheel Mystic parading in Northern Kastarus could have attacked Khucia or even Coswell, but she chose Kastarus of all. Is it because we are weak?... Of course not!... This is Zion’s way of attacking us before we attack them."
A series of gasps escaped the lips of the faithful, with some quickly speaking up in search of guidance.
"What do we do, your grace?"
"No, none of you are worthy enough to face those heretics of the sword. I shall go ahead and confront the enemy."
"Your grace, you cannot!... It might be a trap!"
Benedict chuckled as he replied. "Perhaps, but that is only if they can catch me in it."
Saying that, he addressed the Keepers. "Send a dove to the palace."
"Yes, your grace. Who shall be the recipient?"
"Regent Flores. Inform him that is it time to serve the country well."
"As you wish, your grace."
As the Keepers rushed to carry out the task assigned to them, Benedict addressed the rest of the council. "Do not fear, my brothers, this is but a storm that shall pass."
Spreading his arms wide as though embracing the world, he chanted. "May the Only One God illuminate our path."
And in response, the council members arose from their seats and chanted back. "May the Only One God illuminate our path!"

Arwen awoke from her slumber, breathing heavily as perspiration trailed down her forehead.
Once again, she’d had the nightmare where she found herself in a land covered by green flames with a skeleton screaming at her.
So far, she’d had it a total of five times, each time forcing her to abandon sleeping as it felt too real to ignore.
Unfortunately, so far, she hadn’t been able to figure anything out, same with Elena, and with Victoria having gone on a training expedition with her newly evolved bonds, there was no one else to ask for an interpretation.
Letting out a tired sigh, she got out of bed and put up a finger, causing a green flame tongue to appear.
Seeing the flame, a partial smile settled on her lips.
Considering how terrifying the dream was, the presence of the flame helped calm her.
In recent days, she’d discovered that she was growing more proficient in using the flame.
Comparing her past self to her current self, Arwen was confident that she would be able to defeat her past self without breaking a sweat.
And it was all because of the green flames.
Her eyes reflected the emerald glow, and for a moment, she found herself entranced by it, only to be shocked out of it as her bedroom door was flung open with Elena walking in with a triumphant look on her face only to pause.
"Uhmm..." Arwen’s gaze alternated from the door to the frozen Elena before she inquired. "Any reason you just assaulted my door?"
Snapping out of her reverie, Elena replied with pride. "I have decided on a name for the... thingamajig I’ve been working on."
"... You can’t be serious." Even Arwen found her statement incredulous but Elena didn’t seem to understand why as she remarked.
"I’m absolutely serious. You and Victoria have said that my naming sense needs work, so I’ve been working on a name, and I finally got it."
Arwen parted her lips to say something but then paused, opened them again, and then paused before finally intoning. "Alright then, let’s hear it."
"I call it... drum roll please." Elena remarked with Arwen rolling her eyes before proceeding to conjure a skull and bone from the green flames after which she knocked them together, producing a percussive sound.
Elena’s eyelids twitched momentarily before she regained herself enough to speak up. "Dimensional Foyer!"
Arwen facepalmed a moment after.
