Chapter 581: Five Snaps

Of all on the ship, Sinbad was the only one that hadn’t received a beheading yet but his came just as swiftly as the others, hacking down at his neck without mercy.

His head dropped to the ground with a dull thud as his body dropped as well, both twitching repeatedly just as a multicolored goo emerged from the stump of his neck, making its way over to the detached head.

With Ulysses unable to make a move on either of the enemies they faced, Alex found himself alone against the onslaught of a crazed ghost and her serpentine sidekick.

His condition was also not the best as he struggled to fight against the howl of despair that, for some reason, continued to emanate from Udele, filling up the entire space.

Tyrant clawed at the space he was in, intending to erase the space Alex was in, only for a time bubble to suddenly erupt from the depths of the Night Rose that once served as Udele’s flagship and, later on, her Origin.

Time within the bubble was slowed down causing Tyrant’s attack to move at a quarter of its intended speed.

Udele’s attempt at another beheading also slowed though it did not stop in its goal of relieving Alex’s neck of his head.

Meanwhile, within the ship’s depths, Humphrey had transmuted Ana’s hair, utilizing it as a medium to manipulate time for a brief period, long enough for Alex to recover from the damage to his psyche.

Gritting his teeth, Alex muttered a low thank you as he snapped five times in quick succession while shifting positions, unaffected by the dilated time within the bubble.

First, Mindscape quickly took hold of his mind, serving as a shield against the howls of despair.

Second caused his body to take on an illusory form that resembled the night sky.

Third, Chains of Twilight also manifested with several chains that switched between black and white light moved toward Tyrant.

The remaining two were just about to manifest when the bubble burst and Tyrant’s attack shaved off a portion of the Night Rose while Udele’s guillotine dropped like it never slowed.

Alex found his thoughts disoriented for a moment but he held on to the images in his mind, willing them into existence.

Tyrant saw the chains long before they could come close, and he was just about to let them pass through his void armor only to recall that they had once held him down, resulting in the unfortunate predicament he found himself in the last time.

Learning from experience, he immediately pivoted, teleporting away from his position while creating a spatial hole that sought to drag Alex into a different space.

Before he could complete the action, he sensed something causing him to instinctively dodge again, but as fast as he was, the shockwaves that followed from the sudden emergence of the White hole were enough to send him flying as he could barely control himself, his void armor cracked from the violent attack.

Meanwhile, the chains Tyrant had dodged, rushed at Udele, taking advantage of her madness to encircle her before she could realize their danger.

They wrapped around her, preventing her from making a move as several runes manifested about her and released black and white light that sought to erase her very existence.

Udele!

Tyrant imprinted dragontongue directly into the space they were in as he teleported over only to be met with the final gift Alex had prepared.

Eternal Night unfurled without warning, entrapping them all as Udele could no longer hold absolute control over the space they were in.

With the presence of the domineering night sky, Tyrant felt an intense threat to his life causing him to flee without hesitation, ripping a rift through space and escaping as quickly as he could, leaving Udele behind.

Clicking his tongue, Alex could only let him go as he knew that he didn’t have the facilities to stop Tyrant if he wished to flee.

He focused instead on Udele, undoing his ethereal form as he watched her form turn fainter by the second.

Soon, her wails ceased as her form dissipated completely with a lone object falling into the sea below, laying to rest the corrupted Undead Wheel Mystic.

Letting out a relieved sigh, Alex sensed something causing him to turn just in time to watch Sinbad get back on his feet after suffering what should have been a permanent death by beheading.

Alex noticed what looked like slime around his neck but he chose not to ask about it as he understood that there were things better left as secrets.

"Are you alright?" Alex asked with Sinbad nodding.

"More or less."

"She’s dead."

"That much I can tell."

Raising a brow, Alex remarked. "You don’t seem to be happy about that."

"Should I be?"

"I don’t even know anymore."

Sinbad chuckled. "Thank you for your aid."

"I would have died if I didn’t do anything so no need to thank me."

"Perhaps, perhaps not, but you did indeed save my life and for that, I am grateful. I promise to repay this."

Alex didn’t bother to respond as he took down Eternal Night, allowing the crimson of the space they were in to once again illuminate the Night Rose.

"You should get going. It won’t be long before the relic will regain its former consciousness." Sinbad intoned.

"And you?"

"I have unfinished business here." Sinbad simply replied, unwilling to explain further.

Alex raised a brow but decided not to ask anything else as he made to leave.

Just then, Sinbad called out to him. "Orion."

"Hmm?"

"Tyrant won’t give up so easily. His control over the Domain of Space makes him a troublesome match, especially in the Azure Seas. Be careful."

"Sure thing," Alex remarked before taking his leave with Ulysses quickly following after him.

Though an anticlimactic end, Alex was just thankful to be done with the unnecessary fights.

He had come for Ana and had ended up nearly dying.
