Hunter of the Evernight -
Chapter 580: Evolved
Chapter 580: Evolved
Victoria was the only one who returned to the room after a few hours.
Elena and Arwen, though still present, had decided to allow her to face her bonds alone.
If it turned out that she had failed, turning them into monstrosities, Victoria didn’t wish to have anyone else lay eyes upon them and she swore to put them down alone.
Her steps were slow as the alchemical pots came into view.
The earthen pot stood broken at one end with its contents spilled out and Opal nowhere to be found.
The metal pot, on the other hand, appeared malformed, like how metal would appear when subjected to high amounts of heat,t, with its contents having evaporated and Mirren also nowhere to be found.
Taking a deep breath, Victoria called out to her bonds softly. "Mirren, Opal... are you there?"
There was no response, merely a soft whimper that caused Victoria to imagine the worst-case scenario.
With her one good arm, she was prepared to fight as she took the last step, fully entering the basement they’d utilized for the making of the concoctions.
She heard the whimper again, causing her to glance to the side; there she found her bonds, both huddled in a corner, away from the dim light within the room, almost like they didn’t wish to be seen.
But Victoria had no issues as she gasped in shock at the transformation that had taken place.
Mirren, the Kitsune, had undergone a remarkable transformation.
No longer was she a small fox, and instead, she seemed comparable in size to a Beast Wheel Mystic transformation, but that wasn’t all, as her tails were no longer three but just one flaming tail.
Her fur burned with a brilliant blue incandescence that captivated her in an instant, leaving her mesmerized.
"Miss, am I scary looking?" Mirren suddenly asked, causing Victoria to snap out of the reverie.
It was then she realized that the change wasn’t just physical as Mirren’s control over soul fire and illusions had merged into one form, the blue flames that served as her fur.
Looking at it would immediately cause a person to be trapped in an illusion that they weren’t careful, and that didn’t change the fact that the flames itself was deadly.
It remained to be seen if it were just soul fire or if it had evolved to become like Alex’s Embers or Arwen’s death flame, but regardless, it seemed to hold promise.
At this point, Mirren was no longer just a Lesser Spirit, she had evolved to become a High Spirit with the potential to become a Great Spirit.
"Miss."
"Ah... No Mirren, you look wonderful." Victoria remarked excitedly.
"Really?... I don’t look big and scary?"
"Absolutely not," Victoria replied before shifting her gaze to take in Opal’s changes.
Though the Feline had not increased much, his size-shifting from being comparable to a mere housecat to that of a lynx, his changes were just as substantial as Mirren’s.
Instead of two, he had eight eyes, almost reminiscent of an arachnid, each one twinkling like crystals.
His fur had also changed as instead of hair, they had turned into several miniature hands capable of both autonomous movements and controlled movement.
He had also grown to become a High Spirit with the potential to reach Great Spirit status.
Seeing that both had emerged successfully, Victoria shifted to a different matter.
"Are you experiencing any changes up there?" As she spoke, she gestured to her head, referring to mental problems.
As the main ingredients had been the essence of other living creatures, it was expected that there was a risk of having her bond personality overwritten by the dead Spirits.
Mirren nodded. "But it’s manageable. It’s Opal you should worry about, he is having a bit more difficulty than I am."
Victoria quickly understood that since Mirren’s main ingredient was just an egg, the Spirit didn’t have a fully formed consciousness to pose any danger, unlike Opal, who had to battle with a Weaver.
"Come here." She gestured with Opal rushing into her arms.
She’d have to be careful with him in the coming days to ensure that he would come out of the mental battle victorious.
But for now, she basked in the fact that her strength would no longer be a problem to consider.

Tyrant struggled to fight back against the assault of Alex and Sinbad, finding it rather difficult but still able to stay away from immediate death, buying enough time for his ally to regain herself.
Howls of anguish escaped Udele’s twisted form, not because she was in pain but instead, as an attack.
It was disorienting with a corruptive factor that caused Sinbad to grunt in displeasure as he dropped to his knees, being the most affected of the group.
Bluefish scales covered his skin, and fins had begun to appear as he reached his hand out in a certain direction, almost like he was calling for something.
"Damn it." Alex cursed as he immediately snapped, with black and white light moving to devour the group.
Tyrant wasn’t about to let that happen as at risk of losing his tail to the black hole, he exerted his Authority over space, causing Alex’s teleportation to not work as intended.
Alex’s expression turned sour as he glared at the sea serpent.
Just then, Alex felt a sharp pain on his neck causing him to immediately snap.
The next moment, he was beheaded as another Alex quickly outlined himself.
Gagging uncontrollably, he fell to the ground and found himself also subjected to the howls of despair.
The others were not spared as Udele’s guillotine descended on each one without warning.
Humphrey was already prepared as he teleported, not out of the ship, but further into the ship, away from Udele’s sight.
Ulysses was not as lucky as his head dropped before he could even react, leaving him headless.
But instead of falling dead, his body staggered for a bit before proceeding to pick up his head and attach it back, leaving Tyrant speechless, his eyes widened in utter disbelief.
