Chapter 576: Settling for mutual destruction

The battle between Tyrant and Ana quickly reached a state of redundancy as the former found himself unable to escape the time loop Ana had imposed on herself as she jumped into his jaw, trapping the both of them in a dance that was destined to continue forever.

For Tyrant, it was an unprecedented situation.

For four thousand years, he had not felt the effects of time, utilizing his control over space to create something akin to a suit of armor with infinite space around his immediate vicinity with no time within the armor.

This was the reason behind his insane longevity and why Ana could not have been able to harm him any other way.

But who would have thought that she would be daring enough to use her own body as a virus to invade Tyrant’s space, ensuring that time would end up affecting him even as he was within his spatial armor?

Now, he struggled, hoping to find a way to resolve the situation but try as he would, there was nothing in his extensive arsenal honed over thousands of years that could have prepared him for a suicidal dragon of the temporal alignment.

Meanwhile, for Ana, she had sometimes wondered what would happen if she ever came across another living dragon like her.

She’d considered attempting to assert dominance, befriending them, perhaps considerations towards restarting the dragon race if they were male and the like.

But to kill them... that had never crossed her mind but of all things, that was what she had to do given the circumstances.

She could flee, but Ana had a feeling that Tyrant would never let her go, and perhaps in that feeling, there was a hint of truth.

Resolving things now was the only way and even as it hurt her to do so, she had no choice if she wished to survive.

Of course, mutual destruction wasn’t normally the way someone contemplating survival would take but there was no other choice if she wished to put down Tyrant.

She could tell that the void armor about him would not be easily broken through and perhaps only Alex would have a chance of getting through it with his strange Abilities but that was only if he could catch the sea serpent off-guard once again and considering Tyrant, Ana has a feeling he wouldn’t allow himself to be caught in the vicinity of a black hole once again.

Just then, Udele arrived within the space, still in her ghostly form, and upon seeing Tyrant in distress, did not hesitate to establish her domain over the entire space.

She might not be able to put a stop to the loop, but she would be able to bestow death upon the source.

That was one of the many Abilities she could utilize within her world.

Like a sadist, she took the concept that made her an Undead Wheel Mystic and made it into a feature of her world.

As long as she locked onto the target, she could behead them after fifteen seconds, with the act of beheading being completely unavoidable if the target remained within her world.

Just as the guillotine over Ana’s head was about to drop, streams of compressed water shot out from different angles, striking her and Tyrant at the same time.

Both let out cries of agony with Udele quickly evading the improvised water cannon, but not before taking a degree of damage.

Tyrant, on the other hand, had no means to escape and so could do nothing but let out cries of agony as the water cannon ignored his defenses.

Udele naturally knew who was responsible for this and so didn’t hesitate to act to plug the holes where the water was coming from, but even more, holes appeared, and just like that, she found herself stuck, struggling to plug the holes while Alex created even more of them.

At her wit’s end, she was prepared to settle on mutual destruction, only for a black hole to appear right beside Ana and Tyrant, warping space-time and freeing them both from the loop.

Once free, Tyrant didn’t hesitate to flee to Udele’s side while Ana looked on in confusion, her eyes already displaying signs of madness.

Alex emerged from the walls like a phantom, accompanied by Humphrey who was ready to transmute and teleport should Udele try to behead them.

"I don’t plan on allowing my companion to lose her mind, and I’m sure you don’t want the same for yours. Once again, I extend to you a truce. Accept it for both our sakes."

Udele went silent, seemingly pondering how best to handle the situation.

She could tell that mutual destruction was all that remained should she force a battle with Alex at such a critical stage and Tyrant should have figured this out as well.

Under current circumstances, the best choice was to let them go for the time being and focus on assimilating the Palace.

When she reached the new heights of power unseen, then she could aid Tyrant in hunting Ana down.

In the long run, it only benefitted her so there was no reason to refuse the current offer for a truce.

Just as she made her decision on the matter, transforming back into her pirate persona in the process, she felt something within her causing her expression to shift.

Alex’s expression shifted as well as he sensed something.

Humphrey asked with Alex’s expression falling further as he muttered. "Ulysses."

As Udele let out a cry of agony, Alex didn’t hesitate to undo Night’s Embrace, returning full control of the Drowned Palace to Udele but this was not to her benefit as it meant that the changes happening to the relic would only affect her.

Within moments, the once docile relic revealed its malevolent nature and with Udele still connected to its core, she was naturally corrupted by it, quickly losing her mind to the waves of despair that washed over her.

What the hell is happening?

Humphrey questioned as Alex grabbed a disoriented Ana and snapped, teleporting the trio back toward the crimson space brimming with the essence of destruction.
