Chapter 555: Making a slight detour
Vissarion remained in place, staring down the monstrosity as it looked down with intense malicious intent.
Its reptilian eyes flashed with a somewhat hypnotic glow that left Vissarion entranced, his heart beating rapidly as he felt himself engulfed by a certain sensation too strong to ignore.
Seconds passed before the serpent turned away and dived back into the sea allowing Vissarion to let out a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, his aura as a denizen of the Storm Wheel, empowered by the blessings of the Goddess on the ship, served as enough of a deterrent to the serpent.
He didn’t dare think with his meager strength as a 3rd Advancement Mystic of the Storm Wheel also known as a Rainmaker, that he would be able to contend against a fully grown Sea Serpent.
"Are you alright captain?" His first mate inquired as he rushed over.
Vissarion nodded. "Yes."
"To think that even Sea Serpents are bothered by the storm."
"Whatever has caused this tempest is no friend of the sea." Vissarion stated plainly with a slight grimace.

It wouldn’t be until several long hours later that the tempest would finally calm down with the lightning forest in the distance disappearing as quickly as it appeared, leaving hardly a trace that there was ever such a phenomenon.
The dark clouds dissipated and the heavy rains finally abated, allowing the Lightbringer to be seen once again, serving as a welcome relief from an otherwise troubling experience.
Finally freed of the violent waves of the sea, Vissarion didn’t hesitate to order for a full speed ahead to avoid getting involved in the aftermath of whatever had caused the storm.
Alas, it wasn’t even up to a day later when Athena was confronted by yet another anomaly as Vissarion walked into the communication room to find the place steeped in tension with the crew members frowning deeply.
"What’s the problem?"
"Our telegram caught a signal."
"From where?"
"Captain, it’s the Enclave." The first mate reported with a slight grimace.
"Why are they contacting us?" Vissarion inquired.
The first mate shook his head. "I believe it is a cry for help."
"A cry for help?" Vissarion furrowed his brows as he couldn’t fathom the Enclave asking for help on its home turf.
The first mate stepped forward and handed over the piece of paper that had been printed by the telegram, allowing Vissarion to peruse its contents.
Alas, there wasn’t much to look through as there was only one thing written on the paper and it was a cry for help.
"Captain, what do we do?"
Vissarion pursed his lips as he pondered for a bit.
Just as he was about to respond, a beep was heard, signaling that the telegram had received yet another signal.
Vissarion walked over and personally took out the printed paper.
"Captain what does it say?"
"It’s a bunch of coordinates."
"This..."
"Take this to the navigation room and correct our course, we are heading over." Vissarion intoned as he handed the second paper to the first mate.
"But what about the passengers?... Would they be happy to learn that we are going off course?"
"Don’t worry, I’ll speak to them, just do as I’ve said for now."
"Understood."
With that, the first mate left to do as he was instructed while the other crew mates dispersed to return to their tasks, leaving Vissarion to ponder how best to break the news to the passengers onboard.
Meanwhile, below deck, Alex and Ana were seated in their lodging, the latter of which was currently in deep meditation on the bed with her Will exerted, resulting in the aether moving in accordance to her wishes.
Alex stayed silent at the corner, seated on a rocking chair while indulging in some tea to help with the nausea he was experiencing.
It didn’t take long before Ana opened her eyes to regard him.
"So?"
"Just like you and Nadia, I can’t read Ulysses fate." Ana calmly intoned.
Alex didn’t seem too surprised by this as he intoned. "I’m guessing that’s the perk that comes with being an Error."
"Do you think it’s something to be happy about?... For the Will of the World to allow such discrepancies means that either it is growing weaker, too weak to maintain the Tenets of Order or the end of the world is close, both of which aren’t exactly to our benefit."
"Which is why I say that we have little time left. At least you understand now why I must hurry."
Ana harrumphed but didn’t give a response as she wasn’t naive enough to not understand Alex’s point.
But that didn’t mean she was about to agree with him just yet.
"Anything else?" Alex inquired, unwilling to waste time on that.
Ana nodded. "I read my fate since you and Ulysses are dead ends."
"And?"
"There is danger but within the danger... therein lies an opportunity, at least, from what I can tell."
"An opportunity for you?"
"Seems like it."
"What do you think?"
"I can’t say, at least for now, but I am inclined to find out but I fear it might be a bit of a detour from our original destination."
Pursing his lips , Alex pondered for a moment before inquiring. "Is it soon?"
"I believe the events leading up to the danger are already in motion."
"Then it’s fine, let’s get it done quickly and continue on our way."
Ana revealed a look of surprise as she inquired. "Are you serious?"
"Of course. If it is indeed an opportunity for you, then it won’t hurt to check it out. But we’ll leave the final decision up to fate. I’m guessing we can’t change that, right?"
Ana nodded. "More or less."
"Then it’s fine. But we would have to prepare for the best case scenario."
"That would be best." Ana nodded in agreement.

The dining hall of Athena was once again filled with the elite passengers aboard the ship, most of whom were disgruntled to have been suddenly disturbed.
"Captain Vissarion, I hope there is a reasonable reason you have forced my wife and I away from our chambers. I would have you know that none of us enjoy having our sleep disrupted." A middle aged man that looked to be in his sixties and was dressed in sleeping attire, remarked in Razan with a heavily accented manner that marked him out as a denizen of Kastarus.
Others voiced similar complaints with Alex and Ana standing at a corner, watching the proceedings with mounting interest.
Vissarion cleared his throat as he replied. "Ladies and gentlemen, I must apologize for the sudden summons but please do understand that I did it for a very important matter."
"And what exactly is this matter?"
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, we would have to make a slight detour, away from our intended path."
