Hunter of the Evernight -
Chapter 529: Armory of god
Chapter 529: Armory of god
The southern outpost was on high alert having gotten wind of the happenings in the east.
The Enforcers went about their task with increased fervor, preparing to move out at a moment’s notice should the situation take a turn for the worse at BlackWatch.
Of course, this didn’t mean that the outpost was to be abandoned,d, and so a fair number would still be left behind to ensure nothing untoward happened during this critical stage.
It was in such a tense atmosphere that a figure appeared in the barren land, her features partially obscured as she made her way over to the gates of the outpost.
Her steps were measured, each one causing the aether to ripple despite no attempt to exert her Will.
A beautiful and alluring smile adorned her lips as she stopped several meters away from the gates before muttering softly. "It’s almost over."
Her eyes flashed with excitement just as she was about to take another step forward only for a voice to reach her.
"Who’s there?... State your identity and business!" It was a watchman and he seemed to have a companion.
The woman replied. "I am Sayda and I am here to collect my prize."
A moment later, she unleashed her domain.

A series of sonic booms shattered the eerie serenity of the now-corrupted Eastern Highlands as the Family Heads coordinated among themselves to deal with Obadiah.
Damn you!
Obadiah cursed as he tried to devour Aiden with a sea of darkness but a swing of his blade destroyed the attack, causing yet another sonic boom that left the Abyssal Daemon less than pleased.
Sure he hadn’t gotten a Title or Celestial Form yet, but why the hell was he struggling against this bastard they call the Battle god?
He had nary a trace of divinity nor did he wield a Godkiller, yet Aiden somehow managed to keep him busy, allowing the rest to go about their business.
Obadiah could already tell from the movements in the aether that they were trying to seal him due to their inability to kill him.
Silver linings appeared at different angles, slowly but surely taking the form of a cage that would suppress Obadiah.
At the same time, close to the boundary of the dark curtain, Alex was on his knees, his back hunched over as he coughed up blood.
"What the hell?" He couldn’t understand what was happening but he had a feeling it was nothing good.
He could feel his heart racing and the rest of his organs seemed agitated for some reason.
Before he could speak again, he coughed up even more blood only to watch as the ground absorbed the blood, resulting in the growth of a plant colored with a bloody shade.
Feeling something wet trickle down his cheek, Alex touched his ear and pulled his palm back to find that he was also bleeding from there.
Just then, Alejandro muttered with a worried expression. "Merely a result of its essence."
"What?" Alex asked in a hoarse tone.
"Find a means to protect yourself, Hunter, the essence pervading this region is suffused with excess life. It won’t be long now before you turn into a tree."
Alex came to a realization at that moment only to cough up more blood.
His vision turned blurry and he felt strength leaving his body.
Within, his body had already begun to succumb to the proliferation of cells, which resembled an aggressive type of cancer.
Taking a deep breath, Alex snapped twice in quick succession with the last bit of strength in his body, allowing him to activate two Abilities in quick succession.
The first was the manifestation of Humphrey, who seemed slightly surprised by the change in scenery, followed by the transformation of Alex’s body from physical to something ethereal with black and white light undulating in a wave-like manner.
In this state, Alex found himself unaffected by the proliferation of cells considering his current state had no cells to speak of.
Of course, this meant that he wouldn’t be able to utilize any other Abilities unless he turned back to normal but given the current state of things, it would result in a situation worse than death.
Just the thought of turning into one of the trees on display in this twisted land left him shuddering in despair.
Truly, the horror of the Abyss was unparalleled.
Meanwhile, Alejandro raised his body temperature to an all-time high, resulting in a state where his cells were constantly dying and regenerating, a temporary measure to deal with the rather troublesome situation.
Alex glanced at him and asked. "How long can you maintain that state?"
"As long as possible."
"Would it impede your strength?"
"By a fraction."
"Then it is of no consequence," Alex remarked before turning to Humphrey. "Can you take us to that large tree?"
Humphrey gazed at the towering tree before slowly lowering his eyes.
Are you sure?... I would advise against doing so. Though it is indeed in a dormant state and is merely an appendage, even a dormant 1st-Class Otherworldly limb is still much more powerful than a 2nd-Class Otherworldly.
"If it were that simple, the bastard the Family Heads are fighting wouldn’t need to be in such a precarious state. I reckon the Otherworldly isn’t in a state where it can act like Eternal Winter." Alex intoned.
Alright then, I shall take us there.
With that, Humphrey transmuted the wind, using it as material to bend space which he then utilized to teleport them to their destination.
Obadiah, sensing the movement, tried to act but Aiden was quicker.
A silver blade flashed, slashing past Obadiah’s cloak of darkness, causing the darkness to recede with a silver flame clinging tightly to it.
Obadiah cursed upon seeing this as he once again focused on Aiden.
"Don’t even think about it," Aiden warned.
Gritting his teeth, Obadiah unleashed Miracles in quick succession, hoping to remove Aiden from the equation once and for all, but the Battle God stood ready, the illusion of a weapons vault that seemed to reach the heavens appearing behind him.
The Armory of god, the greatest power of the Battle god was revealed.
