The tide surged forward with maddening screams echoing across the landscape as dastardly things rushed forth with a singular purpose; destruction.

A resounding boom followed as the spear went past the darkness after which it completely disappeared.

"He knows he is outmatched. He would only be seeking death if he stays." Henry intoned.

"Do we go after him?" Lionel questioned with Robert remarking.

"From what I could tell, he seems to be a newborn Daemon."

"Which means no Celestial Form or Title."

"Then what are we waiting for?... This is the best time to take him down." Charles remarked.

Aiden spoke up at that moment, his gaze zeroed on the dark curtain. "Beyond that curtain would be his stage. The danger would be unprecedented."

"Which is why we go together. We cannot afford to allow that bastard to manifest a Celestial Form else we’d have to go the extra mile to bring him down." Lionel pointed out.

"Hah." Aiden let out a sigh. "All in agreement to go beyond the curtain?"

Vorigan led the Monarchs back to the valley within the Eastern Highlands that started it all.

"I have no brother, Show yourself!" Vorigan declared while scrutinizing the shadowy figure within the red fog.

"Brother, do you not recognize me after so long?"

As the other Monarchs, save for Vorigan, exchanged looks with one another, wondering who the voice belonged to, the shadow suddenly took steps forward.

Vorigan gestured for them to stay their hands just as the shadow stepped into the visible range, revealing a familiar face.

"Elijah," Vorigan muttered with a bitter expression.

"Indeed, brother, it is I. I have returned just like they promised."

"Who are they?" Vorigan questioned.

"They are known by many names, but they all represent one will, brother, the Will of the Abyss."

Vorigan closed his eyes as he muttered. "What did they promise you?"

"Power, brother, they promised me the power to overthrow the human race once and for all. To return to the peak of the Dark Ages when we reigned supreme."

"Is that why you allowed them to turn you into this... thing?" Vorigan asked.

"What do you mean brother?... Do you not like my appearance?... What is wrong with it?"

"Look for yourself."

Blinking in slight confusion, Elijah looked at his hands to find that they were decayed and covered in patches of flesh with maggots and worms slithering in and out of them.

But that wasn’t all, as his stomach had been torn apart, with his innards spilling out to form a necrotic leg while his normal legs fused into one appendage.

"Brother, what is happening to me?" Elijah questioned in a fearful tone. "Why do I look like this?"

"You doomed us all, Elijah, for that, I cannot forgive you. But for thinking about our race even now, I shall do you the ultimate favor and rid you of your misery."

"Brother," Elijah muttered softly before nodding. "Thank you."

Out of a Spirit Portal did the Basilisk emerge and upon gazing at Elijah, the Duke slowly turned to stone.

"Did you meet the Dark Lord, brother?" Elijah inquired just as the stone got to his neck.

Vorigan paused before ultimately nodding in response. "I did."

"Was he as the prophecy said?"

"... Yes."

"Ah, that’s good to hear. Live well in paradise, brother, live well."

With that, Elijah was completely petrified and a moment later, his body shattered into dust.

Alas, the Monarchs didn’t get a chance to mourn the old man as Maxius sensed something at that moment.

"Ambush!"

A mocking tone echoed at the same time. "Too late."
