Alejandro was perplexed as he spared a glance at Alex, having felt something change within the peculiar human.

It was a brief feeling, one that caused him to wonder if it was his broken mind playing tricks on him.

Regardless, he chose not to pay much attention to that thought as there were more important things to worry about.

So he closed his eyes and felt for the minds of his fellow countrymen, hoping that they were okay.

Thankfully, due to him shouldering most of the burden, the other Beastmen were relatively unscathed, though the younger ones may be in need of serious attention if they were to ever fully recover from the horrors they’d experienced.

Seeing that the situation was salvageable with no real loss, Alejandro couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened had Alex not come when he did.

Perhaps, this would have marked the end of the Beast Wheel.

Just imagining such an outcome caused him to tremble though he was quick to catch himself as this was hardly the time to ponder useless thoughts.

So, he tossed the what-ifs aside and focused on the current situation, which caused a certain question to spring up in his mind.

Furrowing his brows, he glanced up at Alex to find the human in deep thought.

"Alex," Alejandro called out, snapping Alex out of his thoughts.

Alex glanced at him, maintaining silence while his eyes seemed to be sending across a message.

"You cannot be serious."

"Damn it!... Alright then, Hunter."

"Hmm?"

"Why are you here?"

Letting out a sigh, Alex replied. "It doesn’t matter, it’s already too late."

"What do you mean?"

"There’s a conspiracy involving my sister and I needed your help dealing with it. Unfortunately, she’s gone now." Alex muttered in a bitter tone.

"She’s gone?"

"Unfortunately. I’m guessing they are back at their base."

Looking him over, Alejandro intoned. "You don’t seem too sad about losing your supposed sister."

Alex paused, taking a moment to glance down at his palms before raising it to run through his hair.

"I want to feel something... but it’s difficult. I’ve died today already, Alejandro. It’s difficult controlling my emotions."

"You’ve died?" Alejandro furrowed his brows.

Shaking his head, Alex intoned. "That’s by the way. I’m going to need your help getting her back."

"Where is she?"

"Where the fighting is toughest," Alex replied.

Alejandro paused. "At such a time when the madness of the Abyss abounds, I need to be here with my people."

"They will be safe underground."

"My people are a proud race."

"You owe me!" Alex suddenly lashed out, his breathing quickly turning uneven as he glared at Alejandro.

Trying but failing to calm himself, Alex muttered in a lower tone. "You owe me."

"... You’ll need to give me some time." Alejandro finally conceded.

Alex nodded in agreement. "That’s fine. I need some time to recover as much as possible."

"Not just days, Alex, my mind is in a terrible spot. I’d need weeks at least to heal properly."

"We don’t have that long."

"Hastening the process could lead to hurting myself and my people. I cannot allow that."

Alex intoned. "What if I helped?"

"How could you possibly help?"

Alex took a deep breath before proceeding to snap.

Then, he approached Alejandro, causing the Rey to wonder what he was planning.

Once he was close enough, Alex stretched out his hand and gestured for Alejandro to take it.

"What happens if I do?"

Letting out a sigh, Alex replied. "For a time, you shall bask in the blessings of the black moon."

"I want to assume you know what caused that to happen," Alex remarked, pointing at the ice castle in the distance.

"It’s the work of a 1st-Class," Finn replied, having managed to recover himself well enough to put his mask back on.

For now, the two, despite their differences, had decided to work together to deal with whatever had birthed the ice castle.

In any case, Alex grimaced as he wondered what state Albus and Rose would be in as the state of the town ahead somewhat reminded him of Townsend.

"How long has it been like this?"

"We received word two days ago."

"We?"

"My sister and I aren’t the only ones."

Alex nodded. "I see. So what happened?... You guys came here to investigate?"

"Unfortunately, we had no idea what we were walking into until it was too late."

"What happened?"

"We saw it. There’s an Abyss Wheel Mystic in the city. He somehow managed to allow a 1st-Class to step through from the Abyss into our world for a time and we unfortunately walked in on it."

"It took control of your mind after you’d seen it?"

Finn nodded. "Unfortunately, my kind are weak against mental assault as we have no real way of resisting apart from pure force of will."

"That is not something you share with a stranger."

"You saved my life, I do not consider you a stranger."

Alex shook his head. "Is the 1st-Class still in there?"

"No, I can’t feel it any longer," Finn replied. "But since it has appeared once before..."

"It can always appear again." Alex completed the statement, recalling the events that happened in Townsend.

Back then, if not for Nyx, he would have lost to the Mother and now, he was about to go through a repeat.

With the odds as they were, he couldn’t help but wonder; was he up to the task?

"Please let me go." Emily pleaded with tears in her eyes as the blind nun dressed her in a pristine white dress with a veil that covered her hair.

The blind nun smiled as she came to stand before the teenage girl.

Taking hold of her hands, she intoned. "I know it must be frightening, but take heart in the fact that you have been chosen for a glorious purpose, my child. You have been chosen to carry the Savior. Through you, salvation shall be brought to mankind."
