Chapter 350: Teachers Meeting
Chapter 350: Teachers Meeting
"How is the situation in the north?" A blonde-haired middle aged woman, donning glasses and a gown, inquired while seated in her office.
"Troublesome. The Beastmen have activated the barrier over Thebes, making it difficult to try infiltrating."
The response, seemingly from a male, came from an orb placed on her table, glowing with a rather dim light.
"Any idea of the situation in the city?" the blonde-haired woman inquired, her gaze transfixed on the sight her floor-to-roof window provided her with which was an expansive view of a portion of the academy.
Yet again, the voice replied. "No, not yet. We have attempted divination but the barrier has proven difficult to get through. The others are contemplating a head-on attack."
"Do you know how powerful Aragon is, Smiley?"
"... I understand, Mouthpiece. We will exercise caution."
Nodding in satisfaction, she remarked. "Good enough. You may attempt a head-on attack if you think it necessary but remember that this isn’t war and even if it was, we cannot afford a war on two fronts. The Eastern Highlands are already baring their fangs."
"I understand."
"Now then..."
Knock...knock
The blonde-haired woman shifted her attention to the door while addressing the orb.
"Keep me updated with the situation."
"As you wish, Mouthpiece."
With that, the orb went completely dark after which the woman remarked. "Come in."
The doorknob was turned and a young lady walked in, wearing an attire that bore semblance to a wizard’s cloak.
"Meredith, what is it?" The woman inquired.
Meredith quickly replied. "It’s the Headmaster, professor. He has called for the attention of all relevant staff to the auditorium for an announcement. It sounded urgent."
The woman raised a brow before nodding. "Alright then, I’ll be there shortly."
"Mn."

"An excellent analysis, Mr. Draco. Please have your seat." Alex remarked with the addressed student, a blond-haired boy with an arrogant disposition smirking as he took his seat.
The assignment that Alex gave yesterday had been done by most and based on Alex’s understanding, Draco had the best answer out of the lot.
"As Mr. Draco said, to know if one is part of the natural or supernatural is indeed difficult as the feeling of what is natural and what isn’t can be quite vague at times. For example, a spider being able to make webs can be considered supernatural if we say that what is natural is whatever humans are capable of. Same if we tried to make it so that what is natural is what humans and animals are capable of. What about plants?... So what can be considered supernatural?"
Alex took a moment to let his words settle, even giving a chance to anyone who still wished to answer the question.
None spoke though a few seemed poised to know his thoughts and so he obliged.
"The supernatural involves bending the natural laws of the world, causing changes that would lead to a noticeable diversion from what was to create a new version of what is. So this means, that what does not conform to the natural would be considered supernatural. Does that make any sense?"
"Yes sir." Came the unanimous response.
Satisfied with the response, Alex moved on to the next topic he had drawn out in his scheme.
"Now then, we understand what mysticism is and how it relates to what we are familiar with. So the next question is, how did it come about?... Did it just appear out of thin air or does it have a history?... Any answers?"
A hand went up.
"Yes, Ms. Lena."
"It does have history."
"Indeed it does, but as with all things that are so old, it’s difficult to pinpoint its exact history. What is known is that it has been around since the 1st era and has grown ever since. Some origin books claim that mysticism originated in Emet while others claim that it originated in Argent. They offer great arguments as to why their claims are correct and considering the fact that Argent and Emet usually struggle between themselves for who has the record for the oldest civilization, I doubt we may be getting a resolution to that argument any time soon."
A few chuckles escaped the students’ lips with Alex turning, intending to delve further into the topic, unfortunately, he was interrupted as a familiar face barged into the classroom, her gaze quickly landing on Alex’s figure.
"Uhmm..." Alex stared at the maid, unsure of what to make of the disturbance only for her to speak up, her tone devoid of most if not all curtsy.
"Your presence is needed at the central auditorium, professor. The Headmaster has called all relevant staff for a meeting."
Alex furrowed his brows but nodded anyway. "Understood. I’ll be there shortly."
"I’ll be waiting outside."
With that, the maid left, as abruptly as she came in, leaving Alex slightly peeved.
Letting out a sigh, Alex turned to the class. "Well then, it would seem, we would have to continue the class next time. Before then, I would advise you to read up on available books on mystical history. I look forward to having a more interactive class with you all next time we meet. Class dismissed."

The carriage ride was silent, punctuated with the regular chill of Farfouth and occasional student chatter.
Soon, they arrived at the central auditorium, which while being quite large, with enough space to contain more than a thousand, was already quite rowdy as the lecturers and professors answered the call of the Headmaster.
Of course, the topic remained on Professor Albus and how overnight he had turned from a renowned scholar to a wanted fugitive.
Most had already guessed that the impromptu meeting had something to do with that and so were only waiting to hear what the Headmaster would have to say about the situation.
The air which was already quite cold, became even more so for Alex as several professors glared at him while throwing subtle jabs at his expense.
As they got to their seats, isolating Alex in the process, the Headmaster finally arrived in the company of a few other aged professors who were all a part of the school administration board.
