Chapter 343: Resumption

Chapter 343: Resumption

/2 days later/

It was in a dark musty tunnel covered mostly in moss and mushrooms.

In such a dreary place meant for subterranean creatures, a gold light illuminated a portion ensuring that none came close.

On getting closer, one would discern that the light came not from a conventional light source, but rather from a series of crisscrossing lines akin to a spider’s nest though instead of white, easily cut and made by spiders, these webs glowed with a faint golden light, looked difficult to cut and most importantly was made by a dragon who was currently letting out a tired sigh while stuck at the center of the weaving.

"I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so many before," Ana muttered weakly as she took a moment to study the number of webs about her.

It easily surpassed ten thousand and as she reached out to the empty air, it increased yet again with more golden threads appearing between her fingers.

The creation of the threads was putting a strain on her but she didn’t seem to consider taking a break as she finally took out the last of the threads.

Then, exerting her will on the aether resulted in a pair of golden scissors as well as a needle and even a board appearing before her.

Taking a deep breath, Ana prepared herself for the next step before slowly reaching out to take the needle.

As the golden threads floated into the needle, she reached for the board and immediately began to weave a beautiful tapestry from the golden threads about her.

Humming a tune to keep herself entertained, Ana soon intoned. "Let the story begin."

The Imperial Academy of Cance officially resumed with both returning and new students making their way into the illustrious establishment, excited for the new school year.

The once silent school grounds were soon filled with life as the students moved to their dormitories to sign in with some of the first-year teachers making themselves available to assist the newcomers in fitting right into the school system.

The first week quickly passed with not much happening, apart from perhaps the orientation organized by the professors in charge of the first years and the announcement from the headmaster’s office, establishing the fact that the school year would be the tenth since the last inter-school games and so, as was customary, the games would be held again with Cance serving as the host for the exciting events.

Considering they were still settling in, the school administration agreed to start classes officially on the third week as they took the time to sort out the class lists and also ensure the scheme of work penned down by the professors that would be teaching the kids, were up to standard.

Since the heads of department usually had to scan the schemes of their subordinates before sending them to the school administration, Alex found himself immediately swamped with work as he spent even the weekend, reading through the files placed on his table before sending them across to the relevant bodies for final evaluation.

He hadn’t even had the time to complete his own scheme but knew that a complaint would only cause the disdain sent his way by most other professors to increase manifold.

The news that he had gotten to the post of Head of Department for Finalists had not been received well so it’s not like Alex didn’t expect the negative response but regardless, making it worse could cause problems later down the line.

Regardless, as he completed looking through the last few files, Alex immediately decided that he would be getting an assistant.

He feared that before he’d even get a chance to get to the Order, he would be exhausted from all the schoolwork.

In any case, after the first two weeks came to an end, the third week quickly began, and that signaled the beginning of classes.

Alice, as a finalist, was quite proud that she had managed to make the cut for the Elite class despite being the daughter of a fallen noble.

It was known that to enter the Elite class, one had to be part of the top 50 best-performing students in all 8 subjects taught in the academy, and even then, other factors were taken into consideration, including background.

Admittedly, it was difficult and just the sheer amount of work she had to do to get to where she was would make any average person break down but Alice was different.

The image of her father, disgraced and relieved of his position as Baron was still etched in her mind.

She had sworn to herself on that day that she would push herself to the brink to ensure she entered the Elite class and pass the tests to be qualified to attempt becoming a Mystic.

As long as she could do so, then it wouldn’t be long before she would make those who framed her father pay.

The option to use other means to achieve her goal had cropped up but she didn’t wish to go the route of a criminal.

Her father had always taught her to be upright and nothing would make her go against his teachings even as he was a broken man now.

Shaking her head, she sought to get rid of the thoughts by considering other matters like who would be heading the Elite class.

Professor Albus was a known man in the academy.

Said to be an incredibly brilliant scholar, he was quite highly ranked amongst the TruthSeekers, managing to make a name for himself in the genetic studies of Mutants and their uniqueness.

She looked forward to learning from such an illustrious man and perhaps even becoming the best student in the class though that would be undoubtedly difficult considering the names that had joined the class with her but Alice wasn’t one to back off even when faced with insurmountable challenges.

If the mountain was that big, then she’d just have to get better climbing equipment.

So with confidence, she stormed into the classroom in Block 5-A which was supposed to be where the Elite class was to gather only to be met with unexpected news.

"Professor Albus got fired."

"What?"
