Chapter 90
The school ended at noon.
Diego Willis came early to the back door of Class 18, waiting for Chloe Collins to come out.
When everyone else had left, he saw Chloe Collins sitting alone at her desk, looking at her phone.
Diego’s heart softened, as he couldn’t bear to see a girl without friends.
Usually when he saw her, she was walking alone without any company.
It seemed that, due to her status as a transfer student, not many people wanted to walk with her.
Boys couldn’t get close to her.
And girls were afraid of being overshadowed by Chloe Collins.
He happily walked over to her and asked, "Chloe, want to have lunch together?"
Chloe noticed him sneaking around a long time ago but didn’t look back.
At this moment, she still didn’t look up, her thumb skillfully controlling the game on her phone.
After a while, she asked, "What are we eating?"
Just as Diego was about to speak, someone suddenly walked in from the front door.
Robert Foster glanced emotionlessly at Diego, then said to Chloe Collins, "We’re going to visit my grandma. My mom said this is the key to our house; you forgot to take it."
He placed the key on Chloe’s desk.
"Thanks," she said.
Robert nodded, about to leave, but suddenly took two steps back, his gaze turning to Diego, "Are you--trying to pursue her?"
Diego’s face turned red, and he subconsciously puffed out his chest, "Yeah, what’s it to you?"
"Tch." Robert rolled his eyes.
Diego was dumbfounded, had he just been... mocked?
While the two of them stared each other down, Chloe had already stood up and left.
Diego didn’t pay Robert any mind and quickly followed her.
Robert chuckled and walked next to Chloe, deliberately getting closer to her.
Diego, on Chloe’s left side, begrudgingly also moved closer.
Robert continued to get closer, and Diego followed suit.
Suddenly, the two of them bumped into Chloe at the same time.
Chloe Collins stopped.
Her calm gaze looked at them as if they were idiots.
Only when the two of them obediently stopped getting closer did she continue walking.
Diego frowned, "Robert, don’t tell me you’re interested in my goddess too."
Robert shrugged, "No, I just wanted to teach you a lesson."
"What?"
Robert didn’t speak. He looked left and right, then picked up a stone and put it in Diego’s hand. "Figure it out yourself."
Diego examined the frog-like stone in his palm, suddenly realizing something, his color changing, "Hey, what do you mean by that?"
He caught up with them.
The three of them walked together to the school gate.
Several cars were parked under the trees along the roadside, spaced a certain distance apart.
The one closest to the school gate was a Rolls-Royce.
Raine Nolan was about to get in the car when she saw Chloe and the others.
Two boys with noble and privileged backgrounds stood on either side of Chloe, like her guardians.
The three of them attracted many gazes.
"Raine, why aren’t you getting in yet? After we eat, your father still has to rush back to the company. Come on, get in," Rosalind Taylor said from the car.
Tristan Collins also looked up, his powerful aura emitting an invisible pressure. Just a look from him could make Raine tremble with fear.
Raine lowered her head, not daring to look at him, and whispered, "Cousin, Dad, should we invite Cousin Chloe for lunch too?"
Tristan Collins’ face suddenly darkened, his gaze fixed on that slender figure in the distance.
"Call her over."
These words were unexpected for both Raine and her mother, who both looked at each other in surprise.
"What are you waiting for?" Tristan said in a deep voice.
Raine hurriedly responded, turning and running towards Chloe Collins.
