Chapter 40
After sending Theodore away, Chloe Collins headed back.
As she passed the front yard of the main building, she happened to see Cherry Foster leading a servant into the main hall.
While lifting her skirt, she instructed the servant behind her, "Be careful with those! These are the great Primordial’s works from the past six months. You’ll be in trouble if you damage them!"
Chloe stopped in her tracks, her eyebrows slightly furrowing.
The great Primordial’s works from the past six months?
Heh.
She shook her head and continued on her way.
After going through the arch, she arrived inside Alexander Foster’s separate residence.
In a family-sized basketball court, Alex leaned against the net wall, occasionally throwing a ball far away for the Samoyed to fetch.
Chloe stared at his back for a while, thinking that he wouldn’t return to his room anytime soon.
So, she shifted her gaze and stepped into the building.
While walking, she steadily took off her hearing aid, casually tied up her black hair, zipped up her clothes, and completed a series of movements cleanly and efficiently.
Upon reaching the second floor, she turned on the anti-eavesdropping device in her pocket, which would instantly scramble any hidden cameras.
This time, she headed directly to Alexander Foster’s bedroom and entered the bathroom.
As soon as she removed the hearing aid, various noises flooded her ears. She could only focus on one area, listening intently.
The noise from the basketball court showed no signs of moving, which assured her.
With that in mind, she quickly turned on the bathroom light and examined the entire room.
It looked ordinary.
A series of men’s products and an excessively large bathtub.
She pressed her ear against the wall adjacent to the next room and, as expected, noticed something wrong.
She was sure the wall wasn’t solid in the middle.
Next, she bent down and pressed her ear to the floor, listening for a while.
There was nothing unusual in the first half, but when she approached the area surrounding the bathtub, she heard a faint buzzing sound.
It was similar to the sound of the sea in a seashell.
Following along the edge of the bathtub, she slowly felt around.
Suddenly, she touched something.
A smile spread across her face in an instant.
She had found it.
But the next second, her smile disappeared as she looked towards the bathroom doorway.
Unfortunately, she saw a stunned Robert Foster there.
The two looked at each other: "..."
One was crouching next to the bathtub, feeling around, while the other was crouching outside the bathroom door, sticking his head in to look inside.
The difference was that the bathroom was brightly lit, while the bedroom only had a dim orange night light on.
Under this contrast, Robert, no matter how you looked at him, gave off a sneaky vibe.
Upon being discovered, Robert pretended to be calm and stood up, "What are you doing?"
Chloe regained her composure in a second and slowly straightened up.
"Looking for something."
"You’re looking for something too?"
Chloe slowly walked towards him, her lips curving in a faint arc, "Too?"
Her eyes shimmered with uncontainable confidence, without a trace of guilt, naturally assuming dominance.
Robert didn’t bother lying, "I’m looking for my brother’s car keys, so what?"
He was the only one in the family without his own car, which was quite frustrating.
There were so many cars owned by his brother that borrowing one was perfectly normal!
However, his brother refused to budge, so he had to find the keys himself.
"So, what are you doing in my brother’s bathroom?"
Chloe glanced towards the door but remained silent for a moment.
Two seconds later, Alexander’s tall figure appeared at the doorway, looking at the scene with indifference.
Unaware, Robert continued to ask, "Come on, what were you doing touching my brother’s bathtub?"
Upon hearing this, Alexander’s eyes deepened as he stared at Chloe.
Chloe glanced at Alexander and then at Robert before softly saying, "Just having a look."</p
