Chapter 267
Chloe Collins froze, her thumb unconsciously pressed the hang-up button.
She put down her phone and picked up a porcelain doll on the bedside table to play with, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
How did he know she was going to sleep?
What was even stranger was that after talking with him on the phone, her chest was filled with a kind of subtle feeling, full and indescribable, like...floating on a cloud.
She turned over and her thumb unconsciously started to fiddle with the porcelain doll’s eyes.

The next day, in the afternoon.
Chloe Collins had the villa cleaned thoroughly, inside and out. This kind of deep cleaning was done once a month. When she was home, she would do some basic cleaning, which didn’t include washing the windows.
She didn’t like doing housework and didn’t enjoy cooking or cleaning, but she loved eating.
So, after the cleaners finished, she ordered lunch to enjoy slowly in the courtyard pavilion.
The neighbors had been quiet for the past couple of days. She overheard that they had gone to visit relatives and wouldn’t be back for a week.
With them gone, the surrounding area became very quiet.
She couldn’t help but look at the villa across the street. To be honest, she missed the candy from there.
Thinking about this, she felt her meal even more tasteless, so she went to the wine cellar to get some alcohol to drink.
After consuming too much alcohol, she ended up lying in a hammock under a tree.
Dappled sunlight fell on her face, and she instinctively used a hand to cover her eyes, slowly falling asleep in the comfortable autumn breeze.
A blue convertible abruptly stopped under a big tree at the crossroads. Inside, Sophia Spence wore sunglasses and a woven straw hat. Her hair shone with a faint reddish hue in the sunshine, and all her hair was parted to the sides of her face to cover it as much as possible.
Not long ago, she had followed Alexander Foster here but was afraid of being discovered, so she didn’t dare to follow too closely. As a result, she lost track of him once they entered the neighborhood, not knowing which house he went to.
After circling around for a few minutes, she saw Chloe Collins and quickly hit the brakes.
Actually, she wasn’t sure if it was her, but she had been paying attention to this girl recently, so she was very sensitive to her silhouette. Seeing something similar, her mind would become alert.
At this moment, she took off her sunglasses, got out of the car, and walked behind a tree to take a closer look. She could make out the girl’s face, even though her eyes were covered. She recognized her at first sight—it was Chloe Collins!
The words that Raine Nolan said that night had set off alarm bells in her mind. After mulling it over for a long time, she decided to verify it personally and then make further plans.
At Master’s birthday party before, she had suspected that there was something unusual between these two. However, Cherry Foster had denied it, saying that Master forced Alexander Foster to take care of Chloe Collins, so she let her guard down.
Because of this, she couldn’t bring herself to like Chloe Collins. Moreover, her brother warned her not to provoke Chloe Collins, which made her feel even more uncomfortable.
Who was Sophia Spence afraid of?
From childhood to adulthood, she had always stood out among her competitors, never losing!
It was no different with Alexander Foster.
Because their families were close, she and Alexander Foster knew each other from an early age. When they were little, her mother would tell her that she should marry Alex when they grew up. This idea had been ingrained in her mind for more than a decade. She had never considered marrying anyone else. Marrying Alexander Foster was an obsession that had seeped into her bones.
But it seemed that Master wasn’t very fond of her and always arranged blind dates for Alexander Foster. This had always bothered her.
Before Alexander Foster went to study abroad, they had a good relationship, seeing each other almost every week. But after he returned from studying abroad, they had grown apart.
Likewise, Alexander Foster had taken over the family business, devoting himself entirely to it, leaving her with even fewer opportunities to see him.
So, little by little, the distance between them grew.
