Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Let Her Rely on Her Own Abilities
Chapter 224
Mia Nolan pulled a smile, "How do you expect me to believe you? My mom has been so good to you, and you even gifted her such an expensive birthday present. You’re just trying to please her! Now, she favors you more than her own daughter!"
She pointed her finger forcefully at the ground, accusingly.
Chloe Collins’s expression remained calm, her gaze looking down at her, and said indifferently, "If it makes you that uncomfortable, fine, I won’t bother her unless I have to in the future. I don’t want to say anything more. Believe it if you want, and think whatever you want if you don’t. If there’s ever a second time for drugging, I won’t show any mercy."
She coldly withdrew her gaze and turned to walk back.
Mia, feeling conflicted, called out, "Wait!"
She took a few big steps towards Chloe Collins, looking up at her, "Give up this Chemistry competition."
Chloe burst into laughter, "What?"
Mia took a deep breath and said, "Consider it an apology for what happened in the computer room last time. You made me lose face in front of all students, and I haven’t settled scores with you yet. Besides, after all the help from my mom over these years, it’s time to make amends."
Chloe looked nonchalant, "What does that have to do with the Chemistry competition?"
"If Raine scores higher than you in this competition, she can return to the Collinses. I just want to help her."
Chloe laughed, speechless, and stared at her for two seconds.
Then, without saying anything, she passed by and continued walking forward.
"Hey!" Mia was furious!
Chloe stopped, her cold gaze sweeping over her, "If she wants to defeat me, let her do it on her own merit."
With that, she walked to the staircase entrance and suddenly paused, her eyes looking at the door panel against the wall.
Her hand gently pulled the door.
The door swung open due to inertia.
Raine Nolan, who was standing against the wall, closed her eyes, not daring to face the sunshine.
Chloe scoffed, then turned away her gaze and went downstairs.
Mia looked at Raine in astonishment.
"You’ve been here since then?"
Raine walked over with a straight face, "Who mentioned me?"
Mia looked at her in disbelief, "You’ve changed? Huh, I was just speaking up for you, and now you have the nerve to blame me?"
Raine glanced elsewhere impatiently, then looked back, "I didn’t mean it like that. I just think you should be more careful. Why did you let her discover you?"
Mia furrowed her brows, "I don’t know, how did she find out? I’m so unlucky!"
"Anyway, I’ve made things clear with her now. If she dares to take my mom away again, I won’t be polite!"
Raine didn’t want to talk about it, "Never mind, I don’t want to talk about it right now. We have an exam tomorrow, I have to go."
"Raine! Raine, wait for me!"
Mia hurriedly followed after her.
A few seconds after they left, two heads slowly emerged from behind the big boxes that were left on the rooftop.
Cherry Foster blinked, looking at the now empty staircase entrance, then turned her head to Anders Spence, "Is this a palace drama?"
Anders Spence was also puzzled.
They were just here to have lunch and got forced to watch a play.
Cherry sat down, holding her lunchbox with both of her hands, her eyes full of confusion, "So, did Chloe get drugged by Mia Nolan?"
"The attempt failed, she found out, and that led to the argument just now. It seems Raine was also involved," Anders replied.
Cherry’s face turned gloomy, her eyebrows furrowing.
"Let’s eat," Anders handed her a meatball.
"I don’t want to eat anymore, I have no appetite."
Both of their lunches had grown cold.
