Chapter 203

"What did you promise Charles Carrington, anyway?" Layla Lowell changed the topic as she took a bite from her food. "He has agreed not to hold me accountable for damaging his car and even offered me installments to pay it back."

Folks say a car is like a man’s wife, and she had wrecked his car beyond recognition. She was genuinely curious as to how Chloe Collins had convinced him.

Chloe’s response was the same as the one she gave the night before: "You will find out after the exam."

Just as Layla was about to speak, she saw Chloe gaze intently over her shoulder.

Following Chloe’s gaze, she turned to see Wanda Wesley standing by the window, wiping her sweat with a tissue.

Nearby, a group of male students was mocking her plump figure.

"Gosh, these people..." Layla gritted her teeth.

Wanda Wesley acted as if she hadn’t heard. She ignored them from beginning to end, threw her trash away after wiping off her sweat, and walked out holding a newly bought cold drink.

"How come she isn’t angry at all? This will only further embolden those guys." Layla was perplexed.

Chloe didn’t respond to her remark, her eyes still fixed on Wanda’s neck.

Wanda had thick, long hair that covered most of her neck.

It was hot earlier, but after wiping her sweat, Wanda tightened her hair and covered her neck again.

Chloe’s sense of unease was only growing.

The first class after lunch.

The alarm just rang, Chloe and Layla walked into the classroom leisurely only to find a chair was fallen in the aisle.

There was no one else in the classroom at the time.

"Who did this?" Layla walked over and casually picked up the chair.

Arriving at her desk, Chloe stared at the competition preparation material on it.

She remembered she had left the material open before she left.

But now, it’s closed and neatly placed.

Picking up the material, Chloe was quiet and apparently deep in thought.

-

Raine Nolan spent her lunch break reading through the competition material and was somewhat dazed due to the photos. However, she found the material very helpful, and now she was nearly 100% sure that she was going to win the competition.

Having Chloe’s resources was not an issue.

What Raine had, Chloe might not. For instance, diligence.

She had been in the competitive chemistry class for a while now, and she was very familiar with the question style. Now with Alexander’s resources, she didn’t feel overwhelmed by Chloe.

Nicely enough, she was going to use this chance to wipe away the humiliation of getting a lower score than Chloe in last month’s chemistry test!

At the moment, no other classmates were in the classroom, so she put her phone down and went out to relax.

Inside a very quiet teaching building, the music from the campus loudspeaker sounded especially crisp and pleasant.

Leaning against the railing, she was deep in thought of how to eliminate Cherry’s bias against her.

Just then, noises of a heated dispute was coming from somewhere and she looked over in that direction.

Confirming the location based on the noise, she quietly crept to the staircase leading to the sixth floor.

The sixth floor was where the teacher’s office was located — were some teachers arguing?

As she approached, she cautiously peeked around the corner to see Mia Nolan crying and loudly yelling at someone inside a room.

"You were picking her over me! I now suspect she is your biological daughter! What am I to you, huh? For all these years, did you ever prepared separate meals for me? I ate whatever you ate, but what about Chloe Collins? Ever since she came to our house, you’ve been buying groceries and cooking according to her preferences, even telling me to be accommodating to her! Why should I? Huh?"
