Chapter 168: The Chemistry Competition Questions are Different

After arriving at school and finishing the first two math classes, Keith Grant used the three-minute break to extend the class.

"The preliminary round of the Chemistry competition is next Saturday morning. There are five students from our class participating. I hope you all make it to the next round, but don’t be too hard on yourselves. After all, there are only five spots in the finals, and the twenty-five students in the competitive class are not pushovers. Just treat it as an extra exam experience, with a focus on participation. The main priority is still to review for the college entrance exam."

After talking about this matter, she mentioned some other things before slowly announcing the end of the class.

As soon as she walked out of the classroom, the literary committee member turned to Chloe Collins and asked, "I heard you’re participating too. How confident are you?"

Chloe was reading a new batch of comic books when she heard this. Without lifting her eyes, she calmly turned a page and replied, "We’ll find out when the results are in."

The literary committee member wasn’t surprised by her response, so she continued speaking: "Other than you, those participating from our class are Layla Lowell, Anders Spence, Wanda Wesley, and Edwin Jones."

She looked around and said, "Among so many people, it seems like you’re the only one not nervous - they’re all reviewing their books."

Chloe adjusted her position and said, "Yeah."

The literary committee member said, "Let me give you a heads up - every year, only those in the competitive class make it to the finals. Basically, there’s no chance for those not in the competitive class. You’d better be prepared mentally, so you won’t be heartbroken later."

"Barbara Puckett, did you forget about her perfect score in Chemistry in the last monthly exam?" A male classmate interjected.

The literary committee member raised her eyebrows: "That’s different. The competition questions and college entrance exam questions are very different. The competitive class has said that good grades in regular exams don’t necessarily translate to good grades in competition questions. There have been cases like that in the past. Those in the competitive class train daily and are very well-prepared."

At this point, she frowned, "Yesterday I went to the competitive class to find my friend. I heard them ridiculing other students who signed up, saying that they’re just there to accompany them. Their tone was so contemptuous - as if being in the competitive class puts them on a pedestal above everyone else."

"That’s normal. School history has proven that non-competitive class students who sign up for the competition are just there for company." The male classmate shrugged his shoulders.

"Enough." Suddenly, a male voice interrupted them.

The two turned their heads and saw Anders Spence next to Chloe with furrowed brows and a gloomy expression.

There were some Chemistry competition materials on his desk, and it seemed like he had been working on a lot of them quite studiously.

The literary committee member and male classmate didn’t dare to continue talking.

Diego Willis happened to walk in with some snacks just then and laughed when he saw the scene, "Anders, I noticed you’ve been very diligent since you were assigned to a different class. How did you suddenly change your mind?"

Anders glanced at Chloe, who was quietly reading the comic book next to him, and simply said, "We should be studying in senior year."

Diego blinked, "The way you say that makes me feel so guilty. It seems I need to step up my game too."

After that, he turned around and placed a bottle of drink on Chloe’s desk, smiling, "Have a drink. It’ll wake you up."

Chloe gave him a look and directly refused, "No need."

Before Diego could say anything, Robert Foster leaned in and took the cold drink away, opening it to drink right away.

"Hey, you..."

Robert glanced at him, "You’ve got guts."

Diego was confused, wondering what he meant by that.
